*********OFFICIAL January 2015 Thread - COME CHECK IN!!! ***************

Is SM better and smoother in DLR? If so, I may have to add it to my list! LOL I too am looking forward to some rides at night! When we were in DW in 2012, we were never on any rides after dark, just shopping, eating and resting after the sun went down. I fully intend on trying for RSR and BTMRR after dark!!

SM is definitely smoother at DL. Do the goat trick on BTMRR. It really works!

They took out the old track and replaced it with a smooth, cool track. I like the side by side seating better.

Back in 79, 85 and 95 when I rode SM at WDW I didn't seem to mind the coaster at all. Oh to be young again.

I do have to ride on swings prior to our trip to work on my vestibular system so I can ride SM and California Screaming and not get motion sick. It works well for me.

Did I say I love being in my 40's!

But do your eyeballs still work pretty good??? This is where the hubby & I feel our age now that we're both in our 40s. Our eyeballs seem to have decided they're retired. LOL!

How accurate is the rehab list on Touring Plans if it's not listed on the DL automated system or website?

Welcome!! Can't wait to hear what you have to say about PPH, since we are staying there for the first time shortly after you leave.

It will be our first time staying there. We ended up getting a good price on a club level premium view room, so I am super excited!

We did the Surfs Up! Breakfast there this past weekend and loved it! We'll be doing that again for sure. The shortcut across the street through the GCH made the trip into the park really quick and easy.

No kidding, it took everything I had not to lose my lunch on Space Mntn. I seriously need to remember to bring Bonine and Sea Bands on our next trip. As a kid, I could ride anything, but not anymore!

I think it's pretty darn accurate, IMHO. Perhaps someone else thinks/knows differently? This is my first time at DLR.....so I am kind of new to this too!:)

Those refurbs are a bummer. I'm going for the race so I know crowd levels will be higher than usual for January. I'm actually a little shocked what with the race that they wouldn't push back some of those refurbs a week.

Hi! We just made our reservations to check in at the DLH on January 5. I thought we were going to have to stay off property but with the military discount, we were able to afford staying in the "Disney Bubble"! It will be me, DHusband and DDaughter, 8. I will be 6 1/2 months pregnant at the time, but we wanted to take a trip with DD while she is still an only child. This will be our first visit to DLR but we have been to WDW several times before we got stationed on the west coast. I am soooo excited. :cheer2:

Thanks so much for adding us to the front page! WooHOO! We had to change our dates because of hubby's work schedule. We're arriving at the GCH on 1/28 and checking out on 2/1. I'm sooooo psyched! 2nd trip!

I've been on the fence about getting a Photopass+ for this trip. I think I will. It's my big brother's first trip. I should!

So excited been reading these boards for about a month and finally got our plans finalized. :yay:

We (Me, DH and DS) will be in California Jan 24th - February 3 will be at DL Jan 25 - 30, staying first 3 days at the GCH which was my dream - finally locked it in with the new discounts and the orbitz additional 15% discount, and then the last few days at a Marriot.

We are celebrating tons of stuff - my 50th birthday (in December) my sons graduation from college also December, and DH & my 25th wedding anniversary Jan 19th. So we decided to make a big trip this year, we've been to WDW 3 times as a family and this will be the first trip to DL/California. We are big hockey fans so we planned our trip to see our beloved Blackhawks play against LA, Anaheim and San Jose during our 10 day whirlwind trip. Our last 3 days will be up in San Francisco doing some sightseeing just to round out the trip. I just can't wait

Excited for our family trip to Disneyland Jan 4-9! It will be myself, DH, DS20, DS22, DD24 and her brand new husband (11/30/14). Six of us total in a two bedroom villa at Grand Californian. It will be the first time back to DL since we moved out of California 16 years ago. And the son-in-laws first trip!

I'm starting to freak about about the ever changing refurb info released by DL as reported on Mouseplanet. (seems to be the most reliable info, unless there are other site more reliable than Mouseplanet that I don't know about). I wonder when some reliable info will be available. My dates are prety firm ( within reason) but i just want to know some firm refurb dates. It's so frustrating, since DW releases info so much sooner than DL. The park hours I can wait for, I just would like to know what I am looking at for refurbs sooner, rather than later. DL makes it harder to plan your dates around refurbs that are important to me.

We are actually holding up buying our airfare. The refurbishments, for the most part, we can deal with. It is the refurbishments plus the marathon crowds that concern us. We changed our dates to include SW weekend because I believed most of the refurbishments would begin after MLK day. Specifically HM that usually reopens then.

I am surprised that they would not consider the marathon and holiday crowds. Especially for the first year of Star Wars.

We go every January, so refurbishments are nothing new to us. It was always worth it to have such low crowds. Some of our favorite Disney trips have been DL in January. Crossing my fingers that the list dates change.

This is exactly what confuses me. Especially since most of the refurbishments start just a few days before the sw marathon crowds. I would think it'd make sense to push those off just a few days. Hopefully at least a few rides are pushed back.

Do you think the crowds will be awful?

I may have missed something -- I only looked at the first page of the thread and skimmed the last couple of pages -- but where did the info come from to say that Haunted Mansion would be closed from 01/12/15 - 01/22/15? I'm talking about official Disney sources -- not fellow (unofficial) Disneyland discussion boards/fan sites like Mouse Planet or MiceChat.

I'm just wondering if I missed a new development somewhere along the line (as I have been busy with my Halloween and Holiday/Christmas threads).

I ask because the holiday season ends after 1/6/15, and Haunted Mansion Holiday usually closes right after the last day of the season, so that it can get de-holiday-ized in time to reopen by mid-month-ish (at which point It's a Small World Holiday then closes).

In this Disney Parks Blog from August, Pam Brandon says, "There’s plenty of time to take it all in – Haunted Mansion Holiday goes through January 6, 2015."

Is HMH now staying open through Sunday, 1/11/15?

Okay I booked Paradise Pier with the new offer yesterday. A theme view room from January 31-February 4th.
Got an email from Orbitz today and so am canceling the DL booking and going with the same room with Orbitz. Saved me $175.
