Thank you for adding me. We bought SSR site unseen too. We went to the Boardwalk to do the paperwork though, that was in 2004. I would love to try some other resorts one day but my 14 year old loves SSR and refuses to stay anywhere else! What a little Disney snob I am raising![]()
We live in the Poconos so it is a long drive but we have a great time doing it. The ride home not so much
We should meet up while we are down there! I have never met a fellow disboard member, that would be so much fun!!
I'm sure your son would love some of the other resorts too. Maybe you can take an afternoon in your trip to go explore some of the others? Just a thought.
We've been to all the Disney DVCs except Wilderness Lodge (although we stayed in a regular room there) and honestly, we love them all. They each have some great bonuses and we've just been so surprised by how we like them all. Boardwalk is probably my least favorite, only b/c of the lack of elevators at the ends of the building, so when you come from the parking lot with a stroller you have to go through the main lobby each time. Made it a lot of extra walking.
Beach Club is great for walking to Epcot and of course the huge, wonderful Storm along Bay pool.
Our 2 favorites are AKV with a Savannah view, Kidani and Bay Lake Tower.
But SSR and OKW are great too.
The way I see it, we'll always try for our two favs -- AKV and BLT, first but if they aren't available, then it's no problem.
We used to go to a church camp every summer in the Poconos! It's called Pinebrook so I'm somewhat familiar with the area.
For our January 2012 trip, I organized a Dismeet at the DHS EMH-PM Dance Party and it was a great time. The kids could dance away and us moms had a brief time to chat. Then everyone went their own way. The EMH was not busy at all and we walked right on the rides afterwards. (You can see some pics from my TR below, if interested). We met up with 3 families and had just missed one of the families by a few minutes. It starts at 7pm and goes until 10pm. I was surprised that my 2yo and 6yo stayed up for the whole thing (but we did take naps earlier in the day).
We plan to do the dance party again so this may make a great dismeet and it's early enough that people can plan to be in DHS that day, if they wish and don't have PH.
