:cheer2: WELCOME :cheer2:

Good for your DS - my DD is 14, and is mostly worried about taking off school (first year of High school, and it will be close to finals) but she is thinking about running the 5K!

My kids will have finals before the holidays, and just be back in school (11th for my son).
But I have already decided they can miss a few days - they NEVER miss school, and this is definitely a 'BIG' deal for us!!

so, I've been run/walking almost four weeks, and I must admit I still hate it as much as I did when I started - someone please tell me it gets better!

I'm on Week 2! :cool1: I'm grateful for my ipod music, I get mentally down, and suddenly here comes the theme from Rocky! :rotfl: cant slow down now!

At the 2010 Marathon, as we approached Cinderella Castle, the royal pages on the balcony were playing the Rocky Theme on their big brass horns. My husband had given me a box set of Rocky movies to watch on the treadmill (we had a lot of snow that interfered with some of our outdoor running), so this was a huge surprise and a big lift for me. What a fun memory!

Have a great day! :)

I usually get this feeling around my 9th mile. By that time during training, if I quit, I still need to figure a way to get home so I might as well keep going and by mile 11 or so, the feeling has gone away. During a race, there's no way I am going to quit--no matter how loud the voice in my head yells at me and asks why I am doing this, again.:goodvibes

On every single race morning, I kick myself for ever thinking it would be a good idea to sign up. But the feeling afterward is worth it!

Yeah, it's like banging your head against the wall. It feels so good when you stop. :)

:rolleyes1 You dont want to know my answer!!
(and yet, here I am - again! I just need to remind myself, I dont like being a couch potato - I really dont!)

Mile 9 huh?
That voice in my head starts yelling about the time I'm putting on my shoes, then when I head out the door, and about 15 minutes into the "run"... why? why" why?

Yeah, it's like banging your head against the wall. It feels so good when you stop. :)

:rotfl2:

In dieting the saying is "nothing tastes as good as thin feels"

I like your quote for running!! :rotfl:

I had to step down from the 13.1 route to the 5 miler route at the recent Boston's Run To Remember!

We got very sick (for two weeks) right in the middle of our training and we were only up to 8 miles. Thought it was best to step back instead of trying to push myself. Glad I did, even the 5 miler was hard

So we registered for another HALF, the RnR Providence so we can get that one in and then start training for our first FULL.

I'm bummed that we had to step down, but better than going out and injuring ourselves because we were not ready and pushed ourselves too hard. Better to run smart!!

IM sorry you got sick, that sucks, but Im glad what you said about running smart, I picked up an injury yesterday, 3,5 miles away from home, Itw as freezing, and I was all sweaty and hungry, took me ages to get home, I was in a foul mood, but i decided no running for at least a week, it feels better today and already Im tempted to give it a little try tom!!! but Im not...definatly!

Hope you enjoyed your run.

We check in for marathon weekend 7 months from today! I'm finally really comfortable with the 1/2 distance. I finished my 5th 1/2 marathon yesterday, and have no soreness at all today! I had to take it easy because it was really hot. I still finished under 2:30, so I was really pleased with the results considering the elements. Now I'm trying to work towards to full distance and get comfortable with that before heading down to conquer goofy!

I hope training is going well for everyone else!

Hi all,

Signed up for the goofy a little while ago and thought I should say hi. I've run the princess 1/2 twice, the donald 1/2 once, and the Boston Marathon twice (as a charity runner). This will be my first goofy -- I'm supposed to walk the half with my mom and sister, and the run the full with my sister as much as we can by then. My mom has never done a race before, especially not a half, so I'm very excited and hope it all works out okay. Good luck to everyone who is training!

MOST DEFINITELY!!! Was able to snag a 2-BR BWV for Jan 5-10 for the race. Called at 9AM EDT and wanted to check on a different resort that was on the list and 2 BR were filling fast. BLT sold out and the cast member indicated that one of the nights at BW had filled in the hours between calls.

Changing from my home resort to my desired resort is always a sign that training is around the corner. Maybe this year I will actually train rather than go through the motions. 6 down – 4 to perfect 10 and a real chance of retirement from Goofy - well maybe

Sounds like fun and welcome to the party.....

Make sure that you train at both paces; walking the half and running the full.

Bummed - couldn't get studio at BCV, BWV or BLT. Not sure what I'm going to do!

That's a bummer! If location is important for the race, could you get a one bedroom the night before and after the race, then move somewhere else where there is a studio available?
