Official inaugural Tower of Terror 10 miler thread. September 29, 2012

My sister has a silver sparkle skirt. We wanted to match, but they are out of silver in my size? Should I order black or purple? Our shirts are black. Think glamorous guests of The Hollywood Tower Hotel.

Purple!

Sparkle skirts is going to be at the expo. They might have the silver there. Or you could try contacting Leah. She might make one for you in silver. But to answer your question, purple.

In regards to sparkle skirts, I got mine in today. I ordered the sparkle light so I could wear my own compression shorts under. I can definitely see the value to ordering the one with the built in shorts. The skirt actually rides up on me. It's not to small or too big. It just doesn't sit right for some reason. I'm thinking of sewing the waistband of my shorts to the waistband of the skirt to hold it in place. I think that will fix the problem. So now I'm wondering if I should tuck my tech shirt in or wear on the outside. What do most people do? Oh and now I'm ditching the Ursula idea. I'm thinking just Halloween colors. Purple skirt, black compression shorts, lime green bondiband (hoping they have this color at the expo as I already ordered 3 and now don't want to wear any of them). Maybe a glow necklace and bracelets. I think I'll just take my entire running wardrobe and what I wear may be a race day/last minute decision.

I prefer the Team Sparkle skirts, but never tuck in my shirt and I like the way it looks. If you can't find a lime green Bondi Band at the expo, make sure to check out the Hippie Runner booth...they will be there too and I much prefer their bands to the Bondi Bands...they just fit me better...and they always have tons and tons of bright colors and fun patterns. Usually at the expos they have a buy 4 get one free deal for $20...I have a fairly large collection now :) I order from them online from time to time too. I'm glad you mentioned the glow thing...that was on my list of things to get and I totally forgot about it! Will have to hit up the party supply store this weekend and see what I can find. Last year for Wine & Dine I found a clip online that had a bunch of super thin strands of pink LED lights that I wore in my ponytail...that was fun, but I have a black and white theme going for this race, so it won't match this time ;)

:offtopic:, sorry!

but I'm doing a 10k this weekend in Dallas and just received my race packet from UPS...pay attention runDisney...there was a choice of men's or women's cut tech shirt and get this...it's a flippin' Nike Dri-fit shirt :cool1: This might be the first race tech shirt I'll actually be able to get some use out of. I'm easily impressed ;)

The actual email finally went out! My BF just got his...now to see what this igoody bag is all about...:headache:

Need some opinions:

I herniated my disc at L4/L5 and while I was able to run at first, it became so inflamed by the end of June that I had to stop and get physical therapy and a cortisone injection. I was completely banned from running for over 7 weeks. I've been jogging again for 3 weeks and can do five 12 minute miles. Think I should scrap the race? I'll never be able to run 10 by the end of the month, but I was considering doing a run/walk. Maybe alternating miles and running the last two. I'm wondering, though, if I will be alone in doing some walking? Are there a fair number of walkers at these events or will I be all alone?

Oh my...based on what I've seen you'll be in the majority, not the minority. It seems most do a walk/run combination. Please don't worry about that at all!

Hope you feel better. Back injuries are so difficult.

I know of at least 3 people doing run/walk. A friend, my husband and myself. You will not be the only one

My hubby and I will be doing some walking as well. In fact, we'll be doing the same amount of walking as we will be running.

l will be doing a lot of walking as well :thumbsup2 I injured my left knee earlier this summer and I am s..l...o...w...l...y working my way back up, my longest run is 6 miles, so I am just going to do my best and not stress about it. As long as you keep the 16 min/mile pace its all good, we all get the same medal :thumbsup2

I just looked at the igoody bag. It was a let down. What did all of you think?

Have to admit I was underwhelmed! On the other hand, I always felt badly about throwing away all of the paper in the goody bag, so from that angle I think it's a good thing. Just wish there was something a little more interesting in it!

I also noticed that spectators with a Villains Bash Ticket won't be admitted until 10:00. Does that mean we can't take our family members with us on the bus? Or is it just the finish line that is restricted until 10:00? My "chEAR Squad" Mom is 81 years old and I don't want her to have to stand out at the gates for 2 hours! :scared1:

I will be doing a run/walk combination as well. I'm nursing 3 different issues with a foot so I'm just hoping to finish.

I'm run/walking too. I did the Royal Family 5k in Feb and there were many people who walked the whole thing, even some who were walking faster than I was jogging.

Did you notice in the Goody bag there is an offer from the photography people to get $50 for $30 ecard? I emailed to ask a few questions, but that seems like a good deal. I plan to buy two, one for TOT and one for the Princess in Feb.:thumbsup2

Walker here also. Same as runners, what matters to me is that I start the race and finish it. I have trained hard to be a walker and believe that walkers are every bit an athlete as runners just with more time put into completing our race day goal. We are the endurance athletes.

Had I been a runner, my neurosurgeon and orthopedic-surgeon would not have given me the OK upon leaving the hospital to continue my training for the 2011 DL 1/2M, 2011 Space Coast 1/2M and the 2012 Dopey after a bicycle crash that injured my C5-6-7, right clavicle, LTN and put the finishing touches to the issues with my right shoulder that now requires replacement to be resolved.

We walkers are proud of who we are. :thumbsup2

See you-all at the ToT 10 Miler, bib #2184.
