Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

we have more things planned around orlando the day prior than just groceries, otherwise i agree with you. why waste time and money! we also got the car for dirt cheap, unfortunately their office is only open from 8-6. so we're toying with the times we pick up and drop off. i've never been to mk for a full day, i've just been for halloween party, but my understanding is it's best to take a break in afternoon due to crowds and we intend to close out the park at midnight. so this is kinda my plan...hope for the best. thanks so much for your help, excited and nervous to make this a great trip for my family

Where are you renting from? Just curious.

Yes, that's where Budget is located. You should be able to have them take you back to SSR, or you can just walk over to DTD and take the boat, walk, or bus to SSR. Have a great trip!!!!

We returned from WDW 3 days ago.

We stayed at the Contemporary tower building. The bus to Hollywood and Epcot worked out great. The new sign providing bus arrival info was very helpful. The buses were on time, and there were enough of them that we never had to stand.

On the other hand, the monorail was terrible. It was up and running half of the time. It was broken down the day of our ADR breakfast at Cinderella's Castle. We were all dressed up for photos, and because we had to walk in the humid high 80's, we arrived in MK all sweaty with wet frizzy hair, and in serious need of a shower and clothing change. We had to walk back to CR after walking all over MK in the heat for hours because the monorail was still not running.

We were able to use the monorail during the last couple of days of our trip, but the "not knowing" whether the monorail was working, and the lack of CM's with current monorail information was stressful and frustrating.

I truly hope the monorail refurbishment is completed during the next two years so that it is done by the time we return to the World. If not, I won't waste my money on a monorail resort until it is completed.

Is it the resort monorail that is undergoing renovation? Is the monorail linking MK to Epcot unaffected?

We have a 8:05 breakfast at BOG. Staying at AKL- so when should we be at bus stop for MK bus?

For an 8:05 ADR, I would be out at the MK stop no later than 6:45. The buses start running around 6:30, so if you miss the first one, you should be fine with the next bus.

How long should I plan on it taking to get from Poly to AK and from Poly to HS? Thanks.

Always allow an hour. To Studios, you share a bus with the Contemporary and the Grand Floridian. To AK, you normally share with the Contemporary only.

It takes about 25 minutes to get to AK from the Poly and about the same to get to Studios as you have to stop at the GF.

No, sorry, that's changed.

DHS, AK, & DTD are all the same now: one bus for CR & WL, another for Poly & GF. AK bus usually stops at BB as well, so I would expect 30-35 minutes from Poly when BB is open or opening within 1 hour.

Also, off-topic for this OP, but just FYI, CR-WL buses mostly stop at CR first in the a.m., and almost always stop at WL first in the p.m.

Figures. I have been away too long.

Well, the allow an hour is still right. If you just missed the bus a 20 minute wait with a 25 -35 minute ride makes an hour a good reference.

We are staying at All Star Sports 9/4 to 9/7 and we have a 9pm reservation at Narcoossee's on our arrival night. What's the best way to get there and about what time should we leave. We will have our car but prefer to take Disney transportation. Thanks :-)

Hi All:

Thinking about morning mini-golf at Winter Summerland, then heading to DTD for lunch. I've seen the suggestion to take the bus from BB to SS then walk. Would it make any sense to take the bus to CSR, which is just down the road, and then bus to DTD?
TIA

Since there isn't direct transportation between resorts, it would be faster to drive, but if you want to take Disney transportation, take the bus to MK then take the monorail or boat to GF. Allow 90 minutes.

Take the boat from MK, if it's running. The boat dock at GF is practically at Narcoosee's door.
