Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

I am staying at AK and have an appointment at Bibbidy Bobbidy at 9 am. What time do the busses start running to DTD in the morning? And are there busses that go from DTD to MK?
1st bus should be sometime between 8 and 8:30. It may stop at TL on the way. You may want to consider using a taxi to reduce stress.

No buses directly from DTD to MK. After 11am, take the bus from DTD to Contemporary Resort and walk 1/2 mi. to MK, or bus to GF and take monorail. Before 11am, see Transportation cast stationed at the bus stop for assistance.

It's been many years since we've been to WDW and this is the first time we're really eating outside the parks on park days, so really have no clue here.

OK, so I just made an ADR for The Boathouse for 10PM on 11/15/15 and want to leave DHS after a 7:00 Fantasmic. First off, is this too ambitious time-wise? And if not, what would be my best way to go?

Also, what is the best way to make a 7:30AM 'Ohana ADR from AoA? I'm not opposed to taking a cab if it's easier/faster, but I was wondering if taking Disney transportation is feasible. (And if anyone has an off topic insight on the possibility of making a 9AM rope drop after 'Ohana, feel free to add that too :) )

Thanks!!

As far as getting from DHS to DTD, for that 10pm ADR, I would seriously consider taking a cab. Otherwise, you'll have to either take the bus to SSR and then boat or walk over to DTD, or walk or boat to BWV and take the bus to DTD from there. DTD is really pretty close to DHS is you're in a car vs a bus. And you wouldn't have to worry about time if using a cab.

For the 7:30 ADR at 'Ohana, you could take a bus from AoA...but it would be early. You would want to be on a bus by 6:45...they start running around 6:30, but run a bit less frequently than buses do later on. If you decide on the bus, you could ask the bus driver if it's faster using the monorail or the ferry to the Polynesian from MK.....sometimes they will offer to drop you off, right at the Polynesian, on their way out. Otherwise, you'll have to get the monorail or boat over to that area. Or, just, again, use a cab. You could leave AoA at 7, and go directly to the Polynesian.
To make rope drop after eating....you have two choices. The monorail or the small boat. The boat will go directly to MK from the Polynesian..takes about 10-15 mins. The monorail will stop at the GF and then the MK...about the same time. It all depends on how long you have to wait for either one to get to you. If you're done eating by 8:30, you should be able to make it over to MK in time for rope drop..with time to spare.

How do I get from All-star Sports resort to Art of Animation (walking, bus)? I want to visit AoA on my last day. I'd need to be back at All-star Sports at 9a.m. for the Magic Express. Thanks!

The only way you could get from All Star Sports to AoA and back by 9 am is by taxi. I'd do it a different day - maybe take a midday break from a park.

I thought I'd have time to walk if I get up and check out early, maybe at 6am but your idea sounds more reasonable. I keep forgetting that I could leave a park and come back!

I apologize in advance but I am late to this party and did not read all 191 pages on this thread so if I am repeating, let me know.

I am going to MK on Wednesday, August 5 and Thursday, August 6. I am staying the the WL on both nights. However, I am staying at an offsite hotel on Tuesday night August 4. I won't be able to check in to WL before I go to the park at rope drop on Wednesday. For Wednesday, can I drive to the Contemporary Resort and park there and then walk or take the monorail? I am concerned that even if I drive over to the WL, I cannot get to MK early enough for rope drop to be useful. The boats start to late and even the buses seem like they only start 45 minutes before hand. Even for my second day when I am staying at the WL, I am still thinking getting over to the Contemporary by cab and walking or monorail would still be faster.

  1. Can you drive and park at the Contemporary without a reservation for something? If so, what is the cost?
  2. Can you cab over to the Contemporary without a reservation for something? If so, do you need to call a cab ahead of time or are they readily availabe at the WL?
  3. Should I do any of this or just take the bus or boat?

I could be wrong, but I don't think there's a walking path between the All Star Resorts and AoA anyway, and you can't walk along the road.

You cannot walk it at all.

You don't need to do any of this. If you're checking in at the WL that day, you should be able to park at the WL.

The AllStar resorts are way over, towards AK. AoA isn't too far from Epcot. There is no way to walk it.

You can drive to WL, and checkin, at any rime after 6ish. Your room won't be ready, most likely anyway, but you can drop your bags off, get checked in, and take either the boat or bus over to MK. The boats start an hour prior to park opening and the buses start running at 6:30am...every day.
You are entitled to park at the resort you are staying at, for park access. If you feel you have to drive to the CR, then you should plan on valet parking your car there. Or, once you're checked in at WL, which you can do very early in the morning, you can then drive to the TTC and take the boat or express monorail to MK.

If she's checked in at the WL, why would she need to drive to the TTC to reach the MK? She can take the boat or ferry from WL.

Which is what I recommended in the first part of my post. For some reason the OP seems to feel that driving would be the way to go....so rather than driving and self-parking at the CR, I suggested driving to the TTC...as an alternative to valet parking.
In all reality, taking the boat or bus is going to be fastest.

I've read so much conflicting info. I need some help. We have an 8am ADR at CP in MK on 7/8 (Wednesday). We drive and park at TTC. I know the monorail is on a shortened schedule. What is the best way to get to MK for our ADR?

Bus is the best way but if driving, the TTC is open early and you can easily enter the lot by 7am. This gives you enough time to get to MK on the monorail. If the monorail is still on reduced hours (was supposed to end the beginning of July), there will be bus and water craft options available

How's the easiest way to get from Pop Century to Olivia's Café at Old Key West. How long should I allow for the trip? TIA!

Can anyone verify the reported issues with buses picking up at the YC and BC going to Magic Kingdom? I'm hearing (and reading) that BC guests are stuck waiting for long periods of time because the buses are filling up at YC. Makes me want to think about walking over to the YC bus stop instead.
