Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Do the buses still run from OKW to DTD? If so, where do they let off. I'm sure the old bus stop is part of the construction area. Thanks!

Yes, buses run from all resorts to DTD, including the ones that also have boat service.

The one and only active resort bus stop at DTD is the Marketplace bus stop, same place as it's always been. The entrance is near the Christmas Shop.

The PI bus stop was discontinued for construction, but will be the location of the new bus depot after construction is complete.

what is the best way to get from Mk to DTD?

Fastest is probably walk to CR & take DTD bus; or, if you prefer not to take the 1/2 mi. walk, Resort Monorail to CR and bus.

But there are lots of other options:

  • Bus to SSR, deboard at Congress Park station, walk to DTD Marketplace (.27 to .32 mi.)
  • Boat to GF, walk to bus stop (1/4 mi.), bus to DTD
  • Bus to POFQ, walk to boat dock (1/5 mi.), boat to DTD Marketplace
In a nutshell, you can transfer at any resort. The SSR/walking route is probably close to the same timing as the CR route. The routes involving boats will take longer but are more fun.

We have a 6:50 pm ADR at Trails End on Sunday 11/30. We will be leaving from MK and are riding the ferry over. How early should we plan on leaving to get there on time?

What is the best way to get from animal kingdom to Mickey's backyard BBQ? How long does it usually take? Thanks
You can take a bus from AK to FtW. I would allow at least an hour...better to be early than to stress about being late.

I would leave MK by 6. That should be plenty of time.

I haven't read thru all of these pages, so sorry if it was already asked.

I have two scenarios:

1) best way to get to BC from POR then back at night - we will be going to Cape May Cafe for breakfast, walking thru the international gateway into Epcot for the day, then going back to POR at night after Illuminations

2) best way to get to BC from CSR then back at night - this is an alternate plan in the event we change our reservation to CSR instead of POR

I was thinking of driving to BC and leaving the car there since we will have reservations for Cape May Cafe, but upon looking at other Disboards posts, I think there may be a time limit on parking when visiting another hotel. So, I guess I need to figure out the best Disney transportation routes.

Thanks in advance!

From either resort, take the bus to DHS, and then the boat to BC. You can also walk from DHS to BC, but it's over a mile.

The boats start at 8am on mornings when DHS opens at 9, or at about 7:30 when DHS has Extra Magic Hour at 8. If you'll be arriving at DHS earlier than that, tell the bus driver where you are going, and he will contact the dispatcher to arrange for a bus.

In the evening, just exit Epcot thru the main gate and take the bus back to your resort.

So the park opens at 9am, we have C.P. ressies at 8:30 so we need to be there at 8am. what time do the buses start running and will we have to transfer at the ticket center?

Buses start running at 6:30 every morning. The bus will drop you off right at the MK gate.

I would be at the bus by 7:30 at the latest.

What is a good time to plan on leaving Star Island Resort (near 192 & 535) to get to MK RD at 8am (for EMH). I know I won't get into the park after but wanted to see RD & the only day I can is an EMH day.

If I somehow can change my plans to make to a 9am RD, what time should I leave for that? Wasn't sure if morning rush hour traffic in that area would change much from 8am-9am.

I'm not sure about time. However, don't park at the TTC for EMH. They prescreen for EMH eligibility there, and may not let you on the monorail or ferry. You could valet park at the Contemporary, perhaps, and walk to the MK from there. What will you do for the hour after that (just curious :) )?

Thanks, I didn't think about that. What about those who show up early on a normal opening day though..I'm surprised they check in the parking lot when they do it at the gates too when you scan your MB.

If I do decide to go that morning, I figured I'd take the monorail or a boat to check out the Christmas displays in the lobbies before going back to the park.

No issue on a regular open day. No one will hold you back at all.

For EMH- Back in August I was surprised when I drove from Sports to the TTC. They scanned our MBs before letting us proceed to the ferry. They needed a scan or a key card from the eligible non-Disney hotels.

It's *possible* you could convince a CM to let you on the resort monorail and get to MK. I'm just not sure what scenarios they'd accept.

Yes, that is surprising. I just wouldn't think they'd do that, at least not until you enter the park.

You do have a good point about getting on the resort monorail though...if I had reservations for breakfast at a resort that morning, they'd have to let me on. But I wonder if I just wanted to go eat at one of the QS's for breakfast. I was planning on going to check out the lobbies anyway. :)

I might just try to reschedule and go another morning w/no EMH's..it seems a little silly trying to smuggle myself on a monorail just to see a 5 minute show that may or may not even happen. Lol
