Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Does the boat transportation between DHS and Epcot still run after Fantasmic! ends at 8:55PM (even though the park closes at 8:30) ? How long does it take and where do we catch this boat?

Yes, it runs for an hour after the park closes, or the last people are out and gone. BUT....if Fantasmic ends at 8:55, and if Epcot closes at 9, you may have a hard time getting back into Epcot.
The boat dock is off to the left side as you exit DHS. The buses are to the right, parking lot in front of you. Stay to the far left and you'll see the end of the canal. Go down the slope to the dock. Now, the ride to Epcot, from DHS, takes 25 mins. And that isn't counting any wait times for the boat to come in. So, even if you get to the boat dock at 9:15 (it takes awhile to get out of Fantasmic), and you see either no boat, or the boat just leaving? It will be another 15+ mins before the next boat comes..which means you may not get back to Epcot until 10pm!!!
You might want to take the bus over there, or just forget it and get a cab. If you want to take a nice boat ride? Take the boat from DHS over to BW...will be the third stop (just before the boat gets to Epcot), get off there and get a cab back to your resort.

What a great reply! Thank you! So if another option (non-boat) to get back to Epcot is bus stop #7 in the Charter lot of HS? (We just need to get back to Epcot for our off property hotel shuttle)

Yes, except it's no longer #7. I think it's #26, but I may be off by 1. There's an "Epcot" sign at the stop.

So to get from Epcot to MK in the morning, do we take the Monorail to to TTC and then... get on another train to MK? How long does it take? Do we follow this route back? :cool1:

Yes, you can take either another monorail or the ferry boat from TTC to MK.

The Epcot Monorail opens at 8 a.m. on days that Epcot opens at 9. Travel time could be up to 45 minutes.

Is there also transportation from Boardwalk to Epcot at around 9PM?

The fastest way would be to walk - it takes 5 or 10 minutes
This is true, except that you need to get to the front of Epcot, correct? From BW to Epcot you would walk to the "back door" AKA the International Gateway.

Two problems, you would need a park hopper ticket to walk through to the front, and if it is after Epcot's official close time ( 9 PM unless there are EMH that night) they might not let you in at all.

You could walk or boat to DHS & from there get the bus to the front of Epcot. Or just grab a cab from the Boardwalk resort.

Actually, that might not work, since the OP is trying to get to an outside shuttle bus, and Epcot may be closed by the time they get to IG.

If you have entered Epcot during the day, or you have a pass with park hopping and have entered some other WDW park, you can walk to Epcot and walk thru it to the front, but you must get to the IG gate to enter the park before 9.

Otherwise, you'll probably want to take a taxi.

You could also walk to DHS (about 20 minutes) if you can get there while it is open or still emptying of Guests, and then get the bus from there to Epcot. That could all take about 50 minutes.

I'm staying at the wonderful Beach Club. We have reservations for the Gardens of the World tour at the Flower & Garden Festival at Epcot at 9:00 am in the morning. I need to be at the front entrance of Epcot to meet for the tour at 8:45 am. Will they let us through the IG early, say, no later than 8:15 am, in order to walk through to get to the front of Epcot? Is this allowing enough time to get there by 8:45, if they allow us to enter? Another thing I should mention is my mom uses an ECV, and I don't want to break it down, so using a taxi is not an option. I asked at the concierge desk and they called customer relations at Epcot & said it "should" be okay for us to enter early. But the security at IG said they had never let anyone in early except with breakfast reservations. The front desk at BC told me if they didn't let us enter early that they could always radio ahead for us to let the tour know we were on our way. I'm not real comfortable with being told they "should" let us in, and then not being able to enter and missing the start of the tour, which is the main reason I brought my mom to Epcot! I really don't want any mix-ups or delays getting to the front of Epcot for the tour. Does anyone have any experience with this or any suggestions? And I just want to say our first visit to the BC has been wonderful!

That's too early for the boats, but you could walk to DHS and catch the bus from there to Epcot. The first bus leaves DHS around 8:15, and it's about a 10 minute ride to Epcot. Walking time is about 20 minutes; I'd allow 30 to feel safe.

Ask resort cast for directions to walk to DHS. The Epcot bus load zone is right where the walking path comes out in the DHS charter bus lot.

They may let you in by 8:30, but probably not much sooner than that. I would actually ask the CMs at the Gateway the day before!! See what they say. I know I had a tour time of 8:15, but I got lucky because it was an EMH day. Otherwise, I was told I wouldn't have been let in.

Asking at the resort won't mean much...they really have no clue. I really would try to walk over to the IG early in the morning, the day before and see what they have to say. Try to talk to CMs that would be familiar with this time frame.

We have an Ohana dinner ADR on our MK day. Is it quicker to catch the monorail or boat over to the Poly?

6 of one, half dozen of the other. It all depends on wait times. I have gotten on the boat about the same time the monorail left the MK platform. That monorail was headed out of the TTC as we got to the GF. So, the monorail is probably faster to the Polynesian since the boat goes to the GF first. BUT...if the boat is there, and there is no monorail in sight? Take the boat. Besides, it's very peaceful and relaxing.

Thank you, I didn't know that the boat stopped at another resort too, so we'll probably just take the monorail.

We are staying at POR and have a 5pm ADR at Sanaa. I am thinking a taxi is the best way. Any idea how much this would cost (there are 3 of us) and how much time should we allow? TIA :)

Thanks for all your replies to my post. Just reporting back to let you know how our journey to the front entrance of Epcot for the 8:45 tour turned out. We arrived at the International Gateway from the Beach Club around 8:05, no one else around except for the security at bag check. I had worried all week whether we would be allowed to walk through prior to park opening, but security had no problem with it at all. Checked our bags and we went right in. It was wonderful to be able to walk slowly and take pictures of the flowers and topiaries without all the crowds. I think I enjoyed seeing Epcot without the hoards of people and in the early morning light as much as the tour! We took our time and got to the front of the park about 8:35, plenty of time before the start of the tour. So it is possible to enter the park early to get to the front entrance, or maybe security thought two ladies, one with an ECV, weren't much of a threat!
