Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

So everyone... I need to know how to get from Epcot to all the other 3 theme parks in the shortest time.

We'll be at Epcot at around 9:20am every morning. How long woukd getting to the other parks take approx.? :s

To MK: Bus to TTC(MK), ferry or monorail to MK - 30 to 50 minutes

To AK: Direct bus - 20 to 40 minutes

To DHS: Direct bus from main entrance - 15 to 30 minutes OR walk or boat from international gateway - 20 to 30 minutes.

To MK...monorail to the TTC, then either ferry or change to the express monorail. Would take about 45 mins.

DHS...bus from front of Epcot, or walk or boat from the International Gateway, but probably not an option early in the morning. Probably about 20 mins.

AK...bus, would take about 25 or so mins.

Transportation times depend on how long you have to wait for the bus or boat or monorail to come..then add in actual travel time.

What is the best way to get from the Beach Club to the Floridian for a dinner at 1900 Park Fare? how far in advance should we depart?

Best way? Cab. Takes about $20 give or take and about 10-15 minutes.

Otherwise, bus to MK & either boat or monorail to GF. Give yourself at least an hour, could take 40 minutes if you hit the transfers with little to no wait, or it could take a hour+ depending on wait times, monorail breakdowns, etc.

Bus to MK, then hop on the little boat that runs to the GF. You should always leave yourself an hour, at least, to get from resort to resort using Disney transportation.
The other thing you can do? Boat or walk to DHS...then take the GF bus.

Or, take a cab. A cab will cost you but it will save you a lot of time.

Thank you! And thank you Alesia.

Are these bus stops easily distinguishable (as which one goes where?)

And do we need to show our disney tickets to get on busses or monorail?

There are signs that indicate where the bus will stop. And the bus itself has a sign on the front and the side indicating where it is traveling to.

You don't have to show a ticket for any internal Disney transportation. Just get on board. :)

Everything will be well marked. Disney is very good about that. I do have to ask though. Where will you be coming from that you will be at Epcot at 9:20? Are you staying onsite, or are you staying offsite and then heading to various parks from Epcot? Just curious. That could make a difference in our answers.

We want to spend some time on the Boardwalk after a day at Animal Kingdom. How do we get to the Boardwalk after we leave Animal Kingdom?

We're coming from offsite and heading to various parks from Epcot. :)

Just curious as to why you wouldn't drive to whichever park you were planning on spending that day at? At the TTC you can get a monorail to either MK or Epcot, and buses to AK & DHS.

Easy peasy, just board the Boardwalk bus at AK. The Boardwalk is a resort, in the evening they have buskers out on the Boardwalk. Several good restaurants there too.

I'm guessing that they're taking an offsite shuttle that drops off at Epcot.

Never even occurred to me! I know nothing about off site.

That's what I was thinking. I saw in another post, on another board, that you'll be taking a shuttle to WDW, from your resort offsite. I think that last one gets there around 10pm-ish.
Here's the issue...offsite resorts/hotels really don't give you the best transportation options for WDW. It isn't going to be easy. So, you need to carefully plan how to get back to Epcot for that last shuttle. IF you're at Epcot and want to watch IllumiNations, watch from the side of the lake that is closest to FutureWorld...I think you might be able to watch from between the two shops that are right at the entrance to WS as you cross over the waterway from FW. Then, you can start heading back to the bus stops as soon as the show is over.
If you're at MK? You'll need to head out by 9ish...you have to get to the TTC and then onto the Epcot monorail. That could take up to 45 mins.
At DHS? Take the bus from the front of DHS to Epcot. You should plan on being at that bus stop no later than 9:30.
AK? The park usually isn't open that late at night, so that won't be an issue.
If you want to head to Boardwalk for the evening? You can take a bus to the resort, or walk over from either Epcot or DHS. Your best bet would be to head there after your AK day. Then, you can spend some time at Boardwalk and then head over to Epcot. If you have park hoppers, that will work. Otherwise, you'll have to head to DHS and take the bus from there to the front of Epcot. Or, just take a cab to your resort/hotel.

Depending on how far your hotel/resort is from each park, you may want to consider taking a cab.

The day we spend at MK, we'll be taking a cab because we want to watch Wishes. If we stay for Wishes, we're definitely missing the return shuttle. :)

So I guess the only issue is the day we're goign to DHS. Thanks for the tip, we'll try to be there by 9:30 for the bus to Epcot. And if we miss the shuttle back to the hotel, I guess we'll just have to taxi. :P

Thank you for all the detailed information! :)

I hadn't even considered the boat to DHS and then GF bus. that's an interesting option....

We may end up doing the cab though. The last time we went to 1900 Park Fare, we were staying at the Wilderness Lodge. It was our first night at Disney - first trip. We were told by a CM at the hotel to take the boat to MK, and then another boat to GF. Well, when we arrived at MK, it looked like it would rain. So, someone in my party said, let's take the monorail. I was trying to not be a total dictator (as I had done all the planning and was dictating most everything we did. I wanted to show that I was flexible) so I went along with it.

Well, the wait for the monorail ended up being like 20 minutes because of some unknown delay, we didn't realize that the loop went the other direction and would have to go all the way around, AND, of course, since it started drizzling, after we finally got on, the monorail stopped halfway to the Contemporary for about another 20 min. At this point, we were late for our AR and I was about to lose my mind.

Finally we arrived, and the rest of the evening went great. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at 1900 PF, but oh my gosh, if the rest of our vacation has gone the way that little traveling had, it would have been miserable!

(luckily, thing improved dramatically thereafter!)

Would I be able to obtain a cab for 6 from BC to GF? Or, would we have to split up into 2 cabs (thus 2x the cost)?

Absolutely. Ask bell services to call you a cab, telling them that you are 6 & require a van. You might have to wait a few extra minutes if a van isn't in the immediate area, but, it shouldn't take too long.
