Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Hey all,

I was hoping someone could offer some advice regarding getting to Boma for breakfast at 9:30 am from CSR. I would really appreciate it!

Thanks :)
Bus to either AK and then transfer to the AKL bus, or head to a park with EMH morning..then take the bus to AKL from there.

I'm sure that this has been answered already--and I tried to find the answer, but would appreciate someone taking the time to answer my questions. Thanks in advance.

We will be staying on International Drive (Radisson). We will be staying 6 nights.

What is the best way to get to the parks? Would you recommend a rental car? Where do we park the rental car? Would we still need to take a bus? Would it be best to park at the park or save money and take a bus as well.....Are there buses to the park directly from Downtown Disney?

If someone could please detail the process and any opinions would be much appreciated.

A rental car is always a good choice when staying offsite. You can drive to the Ticket and Transportation Center (TTC), pay to park there (around $15) and then head to any park you wish. You would take a monorail or ferry over to MK, monorail to Epcot, bus to either DHS or AK. No buses run from any park to DTD.
Or, you can drive to any particular park and pay to park right at that park. If you want to visit two parks in one day, hold onto your parking receipt from the first parking lot, show it at the next park and you can park free.

If you want to be at DTD, you are best served by driving there. The buses from DTD run to resorts, no parks. And the buses don't start running, regularly, until mid to late morning..between DTD and the resorts.

goofy4tink answered your questions, but I just want to say that I wouldn't even consider staying off site without renting a car. Off site shuttles are less than satisfactory and taking cabs will cost you at least $100 per day.

hello everyone :wave2: ok so i am trying to figure out which mini golf is an easier/quicker commute from POP Century and then to DTD.

our plan is to arrive on a tuesday afternoon/evening in oct. and go to DTD at some point after checking in. we want to use our voucher for mini golf first though. i think i would need to take the bus from POP to Blizzard Beach for the Winter Summerland mini golf, or i think i would need to take the bus from POP to the Swan/Dolphin hotel for Fantasy Gardens mini golf. Is that correct?

Then when we are done playing golf, we want to go to DTD to eat and just walk around. Is there a bus going DTD from either Winter Summerland or Fantasy Gardens that doesn't require a transfer (we don't mind walking a little but no more than 15 minutes of walking)? I already know there is a DTD bus back to POP Century, so i'm not too concerned about that.

overall, which of those golf places would you recommend for the shortest and easiest overall commute? Thanks!!! :thanks:

Definitely Fantasia Gardens, because of the difficulty getting from W-S to DTD, especially when BB is closed.

If BB is closed, the only bus to/from W-S is the Epcot bus, and there is never a bus between W-S & DTD.

Hopefully, DHS will be open when you head to FG. Just take the bus from Pop to DHS, and then the boat to the Swan. If DHS is closed, next best choice is bus to MK & bus to the Swan. You could also take a taxi from Pop to FG; they're close enough that the fare should be under $10.

When you are done, walk back to the Swan and take the bus direct to DTD.

I think the monorail to TTC would usually be faster, because:

  • The Express Monorail runs frequently enough that additional wait time is negligible (unless there are more than a train's load waiting), and
  • The bus from CR to DAK stops at BB, which can add 10-15 minutes to the travel time; the bus from TTC goes direct non-stop to DAK

Not a problem at all...guests do that all the time!!!

I usually just walk over to the CR and take the bus from there.
The nice thing about the AK bus at the TTC is that I don't think it makes other stops...I could be wrong, but that's my understanding.

Oh yeah ... I forgot that it stops at 1 or 2 other resorts as well (depending on the time of day.) So it could take 20-25 minutes longer than the TTC bus.

BIG THANK YOU for your advice.

ah, good point about BB being closed...so there is no bus from POP to Swan/Dolphin huh? shoot, i thought that might be the case. unfortunately, DHS closes at 6 the day we arrive, so i don't think i can bus it to DHS and then take a boat to swan. bus to MK is the longest of all the park commutes. not looking forward to transferring buses. also we don't want to spend money on a taxi either, kinda defeats the purpose of using our free voucher.

darn, this is harder than i thought it would be! :sad2: thanks for the tips though! :wave2: maybe we'll just hang on to the voucher for another day, though i am not sure when we would be able to use it since our schedule is pretty full. :confused3

thanks again! :thumbsup2

How long is the bus ride from CBR to MK? DHS? Epcot? AK? Just the ride itself, not taking into account wait times at the resort for the bus (which I know can vary greatly).

Thanks much!!

I always leave about 30 mins to get from my resort to a park. It's usually much shorter, but I like to err on the side of safety. Most of the time, it's going to be under 20 mins.

^ me too.

We plan on spending our first day relaxing and shopping at DTD during the afternoon.....then we'd like to lounge around the Boardwalk area and maybe eat dinner somewhere around there. We have to be at the Beach Club marina by 8pm to board the boat for the Illuminations cruise. What's the best way to get from DTD to Boardwalk? Then is it walkable to get from Boardwalk to the Beach Club/Yacht Club area? This is my only difficult transportation day :(

Easy-peasey. From DTD to Boardwalk just board the Boardwalk bound bus. It may take a while, wait times at DTD are historically terrible, additionally the Epcot area resorts will share a bus, so expect lots of stops.

From Boardwalk to BC is VERY walkable, maybe a 10-15 minute walk around the water depending on your pace.

Yacht Club is close to Beach Club, right? We're there in Dec so I'd like to take in the resort christmas decorations at the same time. Do you think I should allow an hour to get from DTD to Boardwalk? We'll probably hang around Boardwalk then do a quick resort visit to BC/YC before heading to the BC marina. I'm just trying to figure out times.

Yep, Y&BC are sister resorts, right next door to each other, they share a pool area. You should be safe allowing an hour to get from DTD to BW. It may be quicker, but could well take that long.

I suggest getting off at the Swan, which will be the 1st resort stop on the bus from DTD. Then it's a short walk across a bridge to the BW, instead of an additional 12-15 minutes and 4 stops on the bus.

Have to agree....again!! Get off at the first stop and then start your holiday viewing. You can check out the Swan and Dolphin resorts first, then head over to the YC, then BC, then BW. Very pleasant walk around the lake!!
