Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Hi All,

This is our first time staying offsite. We have an 8:30am ressie at Ohana. We then plan on spending the day at HS, after dinner we will be heading to MK to catch the fireworks.

The question is this, where's the best place to park for the day? Or am I better to drive to each location?:confused3

TIA

If you are staying offsite, you'll have to pay for parking. If you drove to TTC and paid for parking there, does that cover your parking at HS on the same day? I'm not sure. I would think it would be good to have your car with you but if anything, you could park at TTC since your night will be ending at MK and starting there as well. You could take bus to HS after your breakfast, or are the busses just for resort goers?

Park at the TTC. You will have to pay to park..about $15. Then, you can either walk or monorail over to the Polynesian. Get to the TTC by 8:00 and you'll be fine walking. Takes about 10 mins, and is a nice walk. Take the tram to the central TTC area, and then go left. You will cross a parking lot area, and then see signage for the Polynesian.
When you're done eating, you can take the bus to DHS from there..or walk back to TTC and take the DHS bus there (this one is direct, while the Polynesian bus makes addtl stops).
Then, take the bus to the CR from DHS..you can then walk over to MK...less than 10 mins. Watch the fireworks and then monorail or ferry back to the TTC.
If you are planning on watching the fireworks from outside the MK, then take the bus, from DHS, to the Polynesian, and watch the fireworks from there. Then walk back over to the TTC, go to your car and head out.

For those wondering....once you pay to park once, you are good to park anywhere else that day. Just hold onto your parking receipt from the first park..then show it to the next parking attendent and you can park free.

Thanks Goofy4tink! That's what I was hoping we can do. I didn't realize the walk from TTC was so close to Polynesian. With 3 kids ages 5-8, do you think 10 minutes is still enough time to walk to Poly?

Does anyone know how challenging it is leaving TTC after a fireworks show?

Are there buses at DTD that go to the theme parks? Or do we have to go to a resort first.

At the theme parks, are their buses to the water parks? How about at the water parks, are there buses to the theme parks?

One day we're thinking about going to DTD for lunch and then returning to the parks. Another day we want to visit winter sumerland mini golf and then head to the parks, or maybe go mini golfing after a day at the parks.

I've been searching, but found conflicting information. Thanks.

With kids those ages, you should be fine. I can walk it in about 8 mins, so anything under 10 is vastly doable!! There can be a ton of people heading out of the TTC after the fireworks. BUT.....if you're at the Polynesian, and you head back over to the TTC right after the fireworks end, you should beat the big crowd. Those people, in the MK, will have to wait for boats or the monorail to get over to the TTC.

No buses between DTD and any park. You have to transfer at a resort.
If you want to do Winter/Summerland, you'll be on the BB bus....there will be buses marked for BB. They may be included with the AK bus...can't remember exactly.
Once you get to WDW you will find everything to be very clearly marked.

Thank you. I've been to disney recently, but haven't been to DTD or the waterparks/minigolf in over 3 years. And I keep seeing posts about how they have removed routes since my last visit (to prevent people from parking free at DTD, or discounted at the waterparks, and then heading to the theme parks).

There are buses between DHS & BB/Winter Summerland, and between Epcot & BB/WSL. The Epcot buses continue to run after BB closes until 11 p.m. to serve night golfers. If you're leaving WSL after BB is clear, you'll take the bus to Epcot & transfer there to a bus to your resort.

There are also buses from BB/WSL to AK until mid-afternoon, and most buses leaving AK after 11 a.m. stop at BB on the way out.

We are planning on having dinner at BOMA at AKL. Any one have a suggestion for the best way to get from the AKL to the CBR on a Monday evening?

A lot of people don't like doing transfers through DTD because they say that the wait for buses for DTD is often very long, but when I have dinner at Boma, it's still early in the evening when I'm done, so I like to spend some time at DTD before getting on a bus (or boat if I'm staying at one of the PO resorts). If DHS is still open, that would be closer, though.

If it's early, transfer at an open park. If it's late you can transfer at DTD, but I would just take a cab.

We have reservations in September for Sanaa and Jiko on two nights. One is for 5:00 and one 5:30. Each of those two days, we will be spending the day in AK and coming from that park by bus to get to the restaurant. After we finish our dinner, how will we get back to the poly?
I checked transportation wiz on my iphone and the suggestions were: 1. taxi, 2. bus to AK and transfer to Poly or 3. Bus to Blizzard Beach and transfer to Poly.
If Animal Kingdom and Blizzard beach close at 5:00, will there be buses going there at that hour? If not, will taxi be the only way back to the Poly?

Check which nights the MK is open till 9pm or later, if they correspond to the nights you're going to Saana and Jiko simply take the bus to MK and then either monorail or boat to the Poly.
If it is a night the MK closes at 7pm, take the bus to Epcot which is always open until at least 9pm and then either bus to the Poly or monorail to TTC and then either walk or monorail to the Poly.
Taxi is always the quickest if you're in a hurry, but it will cost approx $20-$22 plus tip.

Thank you for your help!! :) Both nights Epcot is open until 9:00 and One of those nights MK is open until 9:00! I didn't think of doing either of those options!

What is the best way to get to HDDR from AK and how long do you think it might take? If we decided to take a taxi do you know a ballpark figure of how much it might cost for 5 people? TIA! :)

Does the bus that goes to AK and BB stop at BB on the way to AK AND on the way back to the resort? I need to pick up YES tickets, but we are planning on going to BB our first day.

Buses inbound to DAK stop at BB from about 1/2 hour before BB opens until about 2 hours before it closes. After that, the driver may be able to stop at BB on request, or you may have to go to AK & get to BB on the way back.

Buses outbound from DAK stop at BB consistently starting around 11 a.m., IIRC. Some buses may stop there earlier. If you need to get from DAK to BB earlier, ask any bus driver at DAK, and the driver will contact the dispatcher. The dispatcher should either tell the driver to drop you off, or tell the driver which load zone to send you to to get a bus to drop you off.

Buses between DAK & either AKL or the All-Stars do not stop at BB.

There is a bus from DAK to FtW (it may stop at BB on the way.) Once you arrive at FtW, you will be at the Outpost, which is the guest check-in & parking lot. You will then need to board an internal shuttle bus to the Settlement, where Pioneer Hall, the venue of HDDR, is located. Any bus going to the Settlement will work; the color doesn't matter.

You should be at the bus stop at DAK at least 90 minutes before the time you want to arrive at Pioneer Hall.

Don't know about the taxi. I'd guess at least $20.

What resorts are on the monorail route and what are the hours?
What resorts have a boat to/from a park?

The MK resorts, on the monorail line, are....
Contemporary/BLT, Polynesian and the Grand Floridian. The monorail starts running around 7am, and shuts down about an hour after MK closes.
Resorts with boats to/from a park..
GF and Polynesian share a boat that runs to the MK. Wilderness Lodge/Fort Wilderness share a boat to MK.
YC/BC/BW/S/D are all on the boat route that runs between Epcot and DHS..so two parks are accessible via a boat.

Thanks for the info. Now some clearifing questions

Monorail-- what about party nights, does it run one hour after party closing time or public hours?

Boat at Epcot-- is that at the back entrance?
