Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Hi!
We are coming down on Friday for the first time in about 7 years- so I'm a little rusty on the Disney Transportation :-) (Plus, i've only stayed at FtW, and we're staying at POP this time... so not sure how the transportation works from there :-)
Here is our plan. What are the best ways to get around and how long should we allow to get from place to place?

DAY 1:
POP Century- AK (meeting a friend who works there) to Epcot, back to POP

DAY 2: POP- AK (again, to see a friend) to MK to HS then back to POP.

mostly trying to get a general idea of how long it will take to get from place to place, so we make sure to leave enough time and everything. Thanks!!

As noted already, you will be taking buses. Your timing will depend on how long you have to wait for a bus. You could find the bus there waiting as you walk up, or you could have a 20 min wait for the bus to come. Most actual rides around WDW are between 15-25 mins.
So....Day 1 you will take the bus to AK from POP. Once at AK, you will take the bus to Epcot, and then the bus back to POP. Plan on about 45 mins for each trip.

Day 2...Again, bus to AK. Then a bus to the TTC where you will then have to take the ferry or monorail to MK. Or, you could take the bus, from AK, to the CR and then just walk over to the MK via the sidewalk..less than a 10 min walk.
To get to DHS, from MK, you either head back to the TTC, via the monorail or ferry, or head back to the CR and take their bus to DHS. There are no buses to other parks at MK....you have to catch a bus to AK and to DHS from TTC. That is the 'parking lot' for MK so to speak.

Hi, so what is the fastest way to get to animal kingdom lodge from both HS and MK? have a boma dinner buffet reservation both nights. Dinners is at 7 both nights so what time would i have to leave the parks by? please and thank you

Take the AKL bus, and get off at the Jambo House stop. There will be buses to AKL at all parks. For a 7pm ADR, I would leave the park by 6.

I have an 8am reservation for Cape May and will be staying at the Pop Century. Then from there we need to get to Hollywood Studios. What would be the best way to get to these places using Disney's transportation? We won't have a car.

Hello
Can anyone tell me what time we should leave Epcot to go to Poly for 8pm Spirit of Aloha show? This will be in the last week of September and we will be taking the monorail.
Thanks

For that 8am ADR at Cape May, I would take a cab from Pop. The fare, with tip, should be right around $10....and it takes about 7 mins. Versus taking a bus to DHS at 6:45am, then walking back to BC, which takes about 15-20 mins depending on walking pace. Take the cab and leave Pop at about 7:35ish.
Then, after you eat, you can either walk to DHS (along the sidewalk that runs beside the canal behind BW, or you can take a Friendship boat. The dock is out across from the back door to BC/YC.

For the 8pm show, I would plan on leaving Epcot by 6:30ish. Early, I know. But I wouldn't leave any later than 7. There is no way to predict how long you will have to wait for the monorail to arrive, so better safe than sorry. It should take about 10 mins to get to the TTC from Epcot. Then, you can either walk over to the Polynesian or transfer to the resort monorail and go the one stop to the Polynesian. You should arrive at the Luau area about 15 mins or so early.

DD thought 7pm would do it but I thought that might be pushing it a bit, 6:30pm it will be ;)

You may be best off getting two cab vans. I can't say for sure what the fare would be. I do know that I have watched other groups, such as yours, traveling around WDW. Some groups do just fine using Disney transportation while others seem to function best when using cabs/vans. You could take your group to MK from your resort, and then take the monorail over to 'Ohana.
You may want to wait until you get to WDW and check at your resort. They may be able to offer another solution...perhaps they can offer transport themselves.

Thank you for the info! So MK doesn't have their own parking lot that we could park in??

If you do a rope drop start time, you will be close enough to walk from the parking lot to where you pick up the monorail or boat (TTC). That saves a few minutes. Sometimes waiting for the tram to load is the longest wait of the day. If you are "inside" the monorail line, you are close enough to walk.

We were there last year and used the buses mainly with no problems ,but had no breakfats ressies . I think we'll cab it as getting 8 ready to go in the morning and then having catch a bus AND a monorail is a bit much !!! The Agency we volunteer for is very generous with providing what ever makes for a great vacation.I plan on taking the monorail from the Poly to MK after !!

How do I get my luggage from POFQ to Coronado Springs (that's the closest convention center, right?) I am willing to move it myself, just don't know how to get there by disney bus

Are you moving from POFQ to CSR? Not sure what you mean by 'that's the closest convention center' question.
If you are moving there, you can have Disney handle the luggage transfer for you. Just hand your bags over to Bell Services and they will arrange for the transfer.
Or, you can just take a cab over. That way you can take care of the luggage yourself.
You can not take all your luggage on the Disney buses...that isn't allowed.

Please help! We check into POR next Friday. We have the deluxe DDP. We have ADRs at these places that I need to know how to get to:

Chef Mickeys
Hoop Dee Doo
Whispering Canyon
Ohana
Spirit of Aloha

We will have our van so if driving is the best option we can do that. I was thinking there is a boat from POR to Ft Wilderness?? Any help appreciated!!!

Driving will be the easiest and the fastest in all cases IMHO.
You cannot get from POR to FW by boat. It's only a few minute drive from POR to the Outpost parking lot at FW, from there you will catch a bus to Pioneer Hall for HDDR.
Your not more than a 10 minute drive from any of the other locations.

Driving is an option. But...if you're going to be in a park, without your vehicle due to taking the bus there, here are some suggestions.
From MK....walk over to the CR for your CMs meal. Takes about 8 mins to walk along the sidewalk.
For HDDR, take the boat...very nice ride, and it drops you right at the foot of the path that leads to Pioneer Hall.
Whispering Canyon...again, boat from MK.
'Ohana....either boat from MK, or the resort monorail.
Spirit of Aloha....same thing, boat or monorail.

While takiing a car can be quicker, sometimes the stress of driving in a completely unfamilier place, and worrying about being late, can be nasty and mar the whole eperience. Heading to MK, from POR, isn't a bad thing.
If you were to be at another park, then just take the bus to the appropriate resert for your ADR.

Ok..Im staying at POFQ in july. We are planning a dinner at mickey's backyard BBQ. What is the best way to return to POFQ?

You have a couple of choices. You could take the boat over to MK...but I'm not sure where the boat is in relation to the bbq. THen, bus back to POFQ.
Or, bus to DTD and boat to POFQ.

Or you can just take a cab.

The BBQ is at the Settlement, west of Pioneer Hall, so it is convenient to the boat dock.
