Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Anyone know how to get from the Monorail resorts (either at Grand Floridian or Contemporary) back to the Boardwalk Inn?

A couple of options....head back to MK and just hop on the BW bus. Or, take the Epcot monorail line and then walk through Epcot, but that will require a park hopper. Or, just take a cab if the parks are closed.

Staying at POR August 21 - 28 - this is the first trip for all of us...Im in charge of all planning so want to ge a handle on the transportation routes and times we need to be at the bus stops - we have two older adults (grandparents) and a 3 year old so our speed will be on the slow

Orlando airport using ME to POR - flight arrival 3:25pm what time should we be at the resort...How long does check in take - so what is a good estimate for us to be in our room??

POR to Chef Mickeys 6:55pm ADR

POR to Crystal Palace 8:20am ADR (park opens at 9am but want to walk 'slowly' to CP so we can get a couple good castle shots before the park opens)

POR to Epcot 6:45pm Akershus ADR

POR to Kona 10:20 ADR
Kona to DHS

POR To 50's Prime Time 6:35 pm ADR

POR to San Angel in Epcot 6:45 pm ADR

POR to 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian 6:15 pm ADR

POR to Epcot for Rope Drop 9am park opening

POR to MK for 9am park opening Rope Drop

POR to Chef Mickeys 6:55pm ADR

To get to Chef Mickey's...take the bus to MK and then walk to the CR. The sidewalk runs underneath the monorail line....so, when you get off the bus, follow everyone else but stay to the right and walk along the sidewalk you will see, heading to the CR. The walk will take you less than 10 mins. IF you were to take the monorail, it could be about the same, or it could be longer, depending on how long you have to wait for the car to come. I would plan on leaving POR no later than 6pm.

POR to Crystal Palace 8:20am ADR (park opens at 9am but want to walk 'slowly' to CP so we can get a couple good castle shots before the park opens)
You will be able to get in early, plan to leave POR by 7:30. That will get you to MK by 8:00, with plenty of photo taking oppourtunity.

POR to Epcot 6:45pm Akershus ADR
Be out at the Epcot bus stop by 5:45/6. You will need about 20 mins to walk through Epcot to get to Akershus.

POR to Kona 10:20 ADR
Kona to DHS
Bus to MK at 9:15, monorail or boat over to the Polynesian. Then you can either take the bus to DHS right from the Polynesian or you can walk over to the TTC and take the bus to DHS there. That bus is sometimes faster since it makes no other stops.

POR To 50's Prime Time 6:35 pm ADR
DHS bus at 5:30ish.

POR to San Angel in Epcot 6:45 pm ADR
Epcot bus at 5:30, then 20 min walk back to WS.

POR to 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian 6:15 pm ADR
Bus to MK at 5:15, then boat over to the GF. The boat stops at the GF first, then goes on to the Polynesian. When returning to the MK, take the monorail...it's the first stop.

POR to Epcot for Rope Drop 9am park opening
Leave POR by 8:15am...that should get you to Epcot before 8:40ish.

POR to MK for 9am park opening Rope Drop
Same thing...8:15. You will find lots of other guests doing the exact same thing.
With a 3:25 flight arrival time, you will most likely be at POR by 5pm-ish. The average tiime is about 70 mins, but with the type group you have, you may have a bit longer time. Bathroom stops when off the plane, a slightly slower pace, that type thing. You should be in your room by 6pm, latest.

Hi!
Great thread!
I apologize ahead of time if my questions are repeats.
I have a split stay at the end of July- 3 nights at AKL then 7 at BWV.

1st day- 1st ADR- will be at AK going to Akershus. Should we take the bus to BW and walk in the back entrance to Epcot at WS or take a bus to Epcot? Res. @ 6:25.

Later in the week- date with DH- staying at BWV, dinner reservatios at 8:30 at Narcoossee's. Bus to TTC then monorail or boat to Grand Floridian? Or walk through Epcot to bus or monorail?

Friday morning- 8 AM reservation at Crystal Palace from BWV. What time do we need to get on the bus? To TTC or MK?

Saturday morning 9AM res. at Kona Cafe. Bus to TTC then monorail or bus to Poly? What time for bus?

Thanks for the help!
Karen

If I want to get to DHS rope drop from Pop century, what time should I get to the bus stop

Is there any direct bus from DHS to Animal Kingdom and vice versa?

I want to visit a few resort in half day after having lunch at DTD
Is there a boat from Marketplace to Port Orleans Resort?
Then from POR, do I have to get back to DTD / Epcot in order to take the bus to Boardwalk?
From Boardwalk back to Pop Century, should I take the bus to DTD / DHS and then transfer to Pop.
Instead of waiting for the bus, should I walk to DHS

You could do either, but I would just take the bus from AK to Epcot.

There isn't a bus to the TTC. You should take the bus to MK and the ferry (or the monorail) to the GF.

Friday morning- 8 AM reservation at Crystal Palace from BWV. What time do we need to get on the bus? To TTC or MK?

Be at the bus stop at 7:00. You'll take the bus to MK.

Bus to MK and then ferry or monorail to the poly. I would be at the bus stop by 7:45.

Thanks for the help!

I would be at the bus stop an hour before opening.

Is there any direct bus from DHS to Animal Kingdom and vice versa?

Yes and yes.

I want to visit a few resort in half day after having lunch at DTD
Is there a boat from Marketplace to Port Orleans Resort?

yes.

Then from POR, do I have to get back to DTD / Epcot in order to take the bus to Boardwalk?

I would take the bus to DHS and then walk or take the boat to the boardwalk.

From Boardwalk back to Pop Century, should I take the bus to DTD / DHS and then transfer to Pop.

I would only use DTD as a transfer point if it were the only place open.

Instead of waiting for the bus, should I walk to DHS

I would.

Let me try this again...not sure where my response went to.

For Akershus....do whichever you want to do. The timing will be pretty similar. If you love Epcot, then take the bus to Epcot and walk through. If you prefer something a bit more leisurely, take the bus to BW or YC/BC.

To get to the GF...take the bus to MK and then the boat over to GF. There are no buses from resorts to the TTC.

8am ADR at CP...bus to MK at about 7am.

9am ADR at Kona...bus at 7:45ish to MK, then either boat or monorail to Polynesian.

Same here...trying again, post disappeared.

If park opening is at 9am, be out at the DHS bus stop by 8. If you want to be right in the front of the pack, you could leave even earlier.

There are direct buses that run from park to park. The only park that doesn't actually have a bus stop right there is MK...you have to get to the TTC and then either ferry or monorail over to MK.

Yes, there should be a boat running from POR to DTD. To get from POR to BW, I would take the bus to DHS and then either walk or boat to BW. Then, to return to POP, I would be very tempted to take a cab. It would cost about $10 and take under 10 mins. Or, you can just walk or boat back to DHS and hop on the bus back to Pop there.

There is no bus between Boardwalk and either Epcot or DHS. There is a boat from DHS, which connects with buses to DHS. The boat from Epcot does not connect with buses.

Where will you be when you head to DTD for lunch? There are no buses from any parks to DTD. If you will be at a park that morning, you will need to get to a resort to catch the bus or boat to DTD.

Buses out of DTD take a long time, so you should not go back there to get from POR to BW. Either take the bus to DHS and the boat to BW, or the bus to MK and the bus to BW.

From BW, either walk (about a mile) or take the boat to DHS, and then the bus to Pop. Again, the walk or boat to Epcot will not get you to the Pop bus. If DHS is closed and the boats have stopped running, the bus to MK is the next best free alternative.

How do I take buses from BV Palace Hotel near Downtown Disney to Contemporary Hotel in early morning?

How do I take buses from BV Palace Hotel near Downtown Disney to Contemporary Hotel in early morning?
You don't. The buses running to the resorts from DTD are sparce before 11am. There really isn't any reason for them to be up and running early each day. I would recommend taking a cab to the CR if you need to be there before noontime.
Or, you can walk over to SSR and take their bus to MK and then walk back to the CR. But, it's going to take you awhile to get to the SSR bus stop. You really are better of cabbing it.

When staying offsite a cab or a rental car are definitely your best options. You should call your hotel and ask about their shuttle schedule, but they probably won't start early enough for you.

BV Palace is a DTD Resort, so they have a shared shuttle to the MK which runs every half hour starting about 1 hour before park opening. You'll need to check with the hotel for the scheduled pick-up times.

If that's early enough for you, take the hotel's MK shuttle, which will drop you at the TTC, and then ride the Resort Monorail to the Contemporary. Once you get to the TTC, travel time to the Contemporary should be about another 20-30 minutes.

A few questions to help with our ADR's. We just have 2 booked for our trip in July. We wanted to break up the quick service meals since we are on the QSDP.

We are staying at POR

First we have chef mickeys at 5:40pm. I was planning on boat from POR to DTD then take the bus to Contemporary.

Next we have Kona Cafe at 9:30am. Again I was thinking boat to DTD then bus to POLY.

I Have never done ADRs before so if there are better ways please point me in the right direction. Also how much time do I need to allow to be at the restaurants in time.

Thanks

I think for both your ADRs you would be better to bus to MK and walk or monorail to the CR and boat or monorail to the Poly.
Plan on an hour transportation time.

A good rule of thumb is that you should never use DTD as a connection if it can possibly be avoided. Bus service both to and from DTD is very, very slow. Also, early in the morning it is non-existent.

For chef mickey's you should take the bus to MK and then walk to the contemporary. I would plan on it taking an hour.

For Kona, you should take the bus to MK and take either the monorail or the ferry to the poly. I would plan on it taking an hour and 15 minutes.

And I will chime in to agree about not using DTD as a transfer point. Let's say you take the boat from POR to DTD..you may face a wait of up to 15+ mins, then the 20 min boat ride to DTD. Then, 5 min walk to the bus area, where you could wait for 20+ mins for the bus to the CR to come...at least an hour but probably more.
Or you can just take the MK bus from POR and then walk over to the CR (walk is about 8 mins) via the sidewalk that runs beneath the monorail line.

Same thing for Kona...bus to MK, boat or monorail to the Polynesian.

Just about the ONLY time you want to use DTD as a transfer point is if the parks are closed and there are no other options.
