Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Staying at All Star Movies
Check Luggage at 8
Ohanas Breakfast at 9
Check out of All Star Movies at 11
Pick up by DME at 11:30

What is the best way of transportation?
Have to agree with alesia...no way will you have time, even if you use express checkout. You have to get a bus to MK, then ferry or monorail over to Polynesian...that will take about 45 mins to an hour. Eat, which will take you an hour, then ferry or monorail back to MK and get bus back to AllStars....an hour since the buses don't run back to the resorts as frequently as one would like that early. So....if it takes you an hour to eat, you're at 10, takes an hour to return, that's 11, and you need to be at the DME bus stop, at least 15 mins before stated pickup time...that's 11:15.

If you could move your breakfast up to an earlier seating, maybe 8ish, then it might be more doable. You can check your bags any time after 5...I would get to the RAC counter by 6:30, check the bags and then head to the buses. As long as you are done eating by 9ish, you will be fine. You could even take a cab back to All Stars..much quicker.

Is the most direct way to get from DTD to Epcot to take a bus to Beach Club then walk to Epcot? Never been to BC before, so will it be obvious how to walk to Epcot when we get there?

Thanks!!

That's the easiest way. You'll just walk through the hotel, out the back door to the walkway, turn left and keep walking until you get to Epcot. This map should help.

And if the bus also goes to BWI and stops there before BC, you probably would do better just walking from there. It's a couple of minutes longer than walk from BC, but probably less than the length of riding the bus from BWI to BC.

My question is are you able to walk from MK to the Poly?? I know I could take the monorail or boat, just wondering if walking is an option. Thanks

AKL to WWoS?

Also, if running the 5K at AK, will I be able to get a bus BACK to AKV Kidani at 9am(approx)? I know I cannot get one there at 6:30 a.m.....

If you're attending a race, there may be special event transportation between EWWS (ESPN Wide World of Sports) and the host resorts for related events (like registration and the expo.) Check your event program to see whether AKL is a host resort and transportation details.

If not, you will need to take 3 buses to get there by Disney Transport: AKL to an open park, the park to either Pop or one of the All Stars, and finally the bus to EWWS. If AK is open, your best route would be AKL to AK, AK to any All Star, and All Stars to EWWS. If AK is closed but DHS is open, next best would be AKL to DHS, DHS to Pop, and Pop to EWWS. The hours of operation for buses to EWWS vary daily, usually running only during the times that something is going on there; make sure they will be running before you start over there (you can call 407-WDW-RIDE).

You could also take a cab from the resort to EWWS. The distance is only a few miles, so it should cost around $10 at most.

On to your 2nd question: yes, you should be able to get a bus from AK to AKL as early as 7 a.m., or possibly even earlier. Just wait in the designated queue at AK, and the bus coordinator should see you and send a bus. If none shows up within 10 minutes or so, buttonhole a driver and ask them to contact the coordinator; there should be plenty of them around on their way to start the day.

BTW, someone may come along and post that there are buses direct from DHS to EWWS. That service was discontinued 2 years ago.

Thank you. AKV is not a host resort.

We have a ride to the actual race, just not for packet pick up. It is kindof a pain...

Thanks again!!!

Needing some help...

We are staying at Coronado Springs Resort and have a reservation at 7:40AM at Chef Mickey's (Contemporary). We are then planning to go to Magic Kingdom straight from Contemporary.

I know we will have to drive to Chef Mickey's (we have a rental car). But my question comes with getting to Magic Kingdom from Contemporary.

1. Can we leave our car at Contemporary and use the park transportation to get to MK? We would be leaving our rental car there all day.
2. Would it make more sense to just take the car and park it at MK or use the park transportation between Contemporary and MK?

Also - am I right in assuming that parking at our resort, the other resorts, or at the parks is free of charge as long as we are staying at a resort?

Thanks in advance!!!

You don't have to drive - you can take the bus to MK and then walk to the contemporary.

However if you would rather drive, you can either park at the contemporary and then move your car to the TTC or you could just park at the TTC and take the monorail to the contemporary and walk to MK after breakfast (which is what I would do.)

we are concerned about time though. The park transportation doesn't start until an hour before the parks open right? With our reservation so early I didn't think we could take park transportation.

Buses start running at 6:30 every morning.

Really!?!? That changes everything then. Everything I had seen was that buses from resorts to MK (or other parks for that matter) didn't start until an hour before the park opened. I am guessing we will do buses to the parks each day then!

Yep, really!! The thing to keep in mind is that these early buses don't run as frequently as the regular resort to park buses do. So, for a 7:40 ADR at CM's, I would be out at the MK bus stop by 6:30. If you just miss the bus, you could face a 20+ min wait for the next one..sometimes closer to 30 mins!! So, if you get on one of the first buses, you won't be worried about being late.
If you wait until 7ish, you could ask the driver, when boarding the bus, what the fastest way to the CR is...walking or monorail. He/she may offer to drop you there on the way to or from MK. But, it isn't a certainty, so don't count on it happening. I would just be out at the bus stop no later than 6:45.
