Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

I'm scrolling through this thread and seeing some great advice given but I don't think that I've seen the following two-part question answered(if it was and I missed it, sorry)

We have late dinner ressies at WCC in August and I'm wondering what is the best/easiest/fastest way to get there. We'll be either be coming from one of the parks or from POR where we'll be staying.

When I say late ressies, I mean 7:50PM so the other part of my question is what would be the best/easiest/fastest way to get back to our resort(POR)?

Also, I read somewhere that we can walk from Epcot to ESPN Club. Is this true? If so, how long is the walk and would we be better off using a different means of transportation?

If you're in a park, just take the WL bus from that park. If you are at POR, take the bus to MK and then take the boat over to WL. For a 7:50 ADR, I would leave a park by 7:15. From POR, I would head out by 7. To get back to POR, you have a few choices. If there is a park that is still open, and in August there should be several, take the bus to the open park from WL and then transfer to the POR bus from there. If MK is open (and it should be open fairly late in August) that would be the easiest park to get back to..just take the boat. Or, you can take the bus to DTD, from WL, and then either a bus, or the boat back to POR. If you aren't in any hurry, the boat ride back to POR from DTD is very pleasant.

To get to the ESPN Club is incredibly easy. Exit Epcot at the International Gateway...back door to WS. You will find it between England and France..it's pretty obvious. Walk out, follow the sidewalk up a small incline, take a left over the bridge to BW and you'll see the ESPN sign on the left as you walk around the bend. It takes about 7 mins. You can also take a boat from the Gateway....it will go to BW. The ride itself is about 5-6 mins but you could face a 20 min wait for the boat to get there.

Hi all! I hope that you can help me out (and I am sure that you can!) We leave tomorrow heading to disney. We will be driving. I will have an infant as well as a 7 year old and 4 adults. Here are my scenarios that I hope you all can shed transportation light on :)

We will be staying at the CSR. I need the best directions/travel plans as outlined below:

CSR to MK
MK to GF
GF to CSR

CSR to AK
AK to Shutters
Shutters to CSR

CSR to Epcot
Epcot to Kona
Kona to CSR

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There are Disney buses from CSR to all of the parks, so that takes care of your morning trips. Buses start about 6:30 a.m. and run about every 20 minutes or less. If you're going to a breakfast before the parks open, the buses may be running about every 30 minutes, so allow a little bit extra.

For dinner, there's a bus from AK to CBR for Shutters. From MK you can choose either the Monorail or a boat to GF. From Epcot you'll take the Monorail, but you'll need to change trains at the TTC.

Heading back to the resorts is a bit more complicated. There are no direct buses; you need to change at an open park or at DTD.

GF to CSR and Kona to CSR, you can take the Monorail to MK and get the CSR bus there up to about an hour after the MK closes. If it's later and DHS is still open, take a bus to there and transfer. Or if Epcot is still open, take the Monorail to TTC, change to the Epcot train, and get the bus at Epcot.

Shutters @ CBR to CSR, the best transfer points are DHS or Epcot. You could also consider a taxi, as the 2 are fairly close. You can request a taxi van that holds 7 passengers.

DTD is the last choice for transfers, as it always seem to take longer, and it's a fairly slow ride from DTD to CSR.

Of course, you can also drive everywhere. Parking is free since you're staying at a WDW resort. Just be aware that you will have to take the tram and then the Monorail or ferry boat from the MK parking lot to the MK.

Ok thanks:thumbsup2 Just to be clear, when you say "take the boat" where exactly would one stand to board said boat at MK? This is our first time staying at a resort that has boats and we've never boarded any boats in MK to go anywhere.

The MK boat docks are right outside the main entrance, directly opposite the security bag checks. They are clearly marked. If you need specific directions, any security or other Main Entrance cast member will be able to help you.

At WL, the boat dock is way out back, to the left of the pool. Just go down the hallway past Artist Point and follow the signs.

Hi! I posted this in my PTR but I'm not sure if I'll get any response there so I wanted to bring it here if you don't mind :) ..... And if it helps with my questions, we will be staying at ASMo.

Ok....So please someone help me on the bus schedules!! I am so confused. I've been pouring over 100s of posts and websites trying to figure out how to get from place to place.

My questions:
Buses DO run directly from park to park, right?!? Just NOT from resort to resort?? Like... I can go directly on a bus from AK to HS... or not? A previous post says that there will be no direct bus if I go from AK to HS at 2:30pm, so I'm confused now. Please forgive me!
And what about going from Epcot to DTD? Will I have to transfer buses at a resort? And if so, would it be worth the time to maybe go via bus to POR and then take the relaxing boat ride to DTD?
Also... We have an ADR at Chef Mickey's at 7:35a... Will I be able to catch a bus early enough to make it there or would we be better off driving?

Thanks in advance for any help! I keep reading different things from different people and it's all confusing me.

1. Yes, there are park to park buses....as long as the parks are open. The only difference in parks is that if you are heading to MK, from DHS or AK, you will take a bus that will drop you at the TTC. From Epcot, you would take the monorail to the TTC. Then, you can either get to MK via the monorail or ferry.
The reverse is also true if leaving MK and heading to another park....have to go across to TTC.
All other park to park buses go to the same area the resort to park buses go.

2. No buses between DTD and any parks. IF you are at Epcot and want to head to DTD, I would exit Epcot at WS, via the International Gateway and walk over to BC and hop on their DTD bus. But, if you're at the front of Epcot, just go back to POR and take the boat...very relaxing.

3. 7:30 am ADR at Chef Mickey's may be harder to do. The buses start running to the parks, for those early ADRs by 6:30. If you decide to take the bus, be out at the bus stop no later than 6:25. You want to be on the earliest possible bus. If you want to leave later, say at 7ish, then you are better off driving yourself. If you take the bus, you can ask the driver which is faster from MK to CR....walking or monorail. Technically, it's faster walking if you have to wait for the monorail. The walk takes about 8 mins...along a very nice sidewalk that runs beneath the monorail line. The driver may offer to drop you at the CR...but they may not as well.

You will find the transportation system at WDW is very easy to figure out and use.

I may have missed this (b/c honestly I didn't read every post on every page), but is there an actual bus schedule rather than just "every 20 minutes or so" like I have read?

There is no published schedule. In most cases, buses are dispatched as they become available.

Just want to make sure that I have this right. We are staying at CSR. To get to chef Mickey, I need to take the bus to MK then I can walk to the contemporay and it is only like a 5 min walk.

Then on our DHS day we are going to cape may. i can walk from there and it is only about 20 mins or take a boat, but usually quicker to walk. Then when we are done is it quicker to walk to epcot and through epcot to take a bus back to our hotel or walk back to DHS and take the bus from their. We have a 530 reservation and DHS closes at 7 so want to make sure I can get a bus. We may stop and look around epcot but not do a whole lot. We have hoppers so it isn't a big deal.

Yep, you've got it right. Take the bus to MK, then walk back to the CR. The sidewalk is very pleasant. Takes less than 8 mins. IF you decided to take the monorail over, yes, the ride itself is very short..about 2 mins. But, you have to walk up to the monorail platform (about 3 mins) and then possibly wait (up to 10 mins) for a monorail to come. So, longer than walking..unless the car is there and you can just get on, with no wait.

To Cape May, you can walk from DHS...takes about 20 mins. Or take the boat....possibly a few mins longer since there is usually a wait time involved. Since you have park hoppers, I would go through Epcot. It's about the same time involved, but it's a more fun walk vs the sidewalk. Besides, if you walked to DHS, you would very likely get caught up in longer bus waits since it is park closing time. I would go throug Epcot.

Hi, everyone!

I've searched through all the pages, but didn't see the questions I need help with (if I've missed them, I'm truly sorry). I just need to be confirm my thought processes with someone else, since this will be my 1st trip to WDW (YAY!!). Any help you all can provide will be greatly appreciated.

1) CBR to OKW (Olivia's) - ADR is for 5:40pm on 05/29 and we'll be flying in around 1pm...I'm thinking it's faster to take a bus from CBR to DHS, then to OKW (I'm trying to avoid taking taxis as much as possible)...is this correct?

2) MK to CBR (Shutters) - ADR is for 5:20pm on 06/02...I'm thinking it's as simple as getting on a bus at MK and heading back to our resort. However, I've come to learn since booking that our resort is so big it's got its own bus line, so what would be your advice on how to quickly get to Shutters?

3) Epcot to DTD (Planet Hollywood) - ADR is for 5:15pm...I'm not sure where we'll be (either FW or WS) by the time we'll have to leave for our ADR...I figure I'll plan it better once I see what's the fastest way to get Planet Hollywood. ;)

4) Lastly, I've seen some posts that even though the busses may start running at 6:30am for early morning, they might not run as frequently that early. We've got three early morning ADRs...can you offer advice on when we should be at the bus stop at CBR? (For these ADRs, I'm not completely opposed to taking taxis, if you think that would be the best option to get us there on time.) They are:
  • CBR to Crystal Palace (ADR is at 8:05am)
  • CBR to Cape May Cafe (ADR is at 8:05am)
  • CBR to Tusker House (ADR is at 8:00am)
Thank you SOOO much for any advice you can provide! This thread is AMAZING!!! :yay:

If you arrive, ontime at 1pm, you should be at CBR by 2:30. Checked in and to room to freshen up...done by 3:30. So, sure, you should be fine. I would either take the bus to DHS and then transfer to the OKW bus, or take the bus to DTD and then the boat over to OKW. Plan on 90 mins to do this..either way.

2) MK to CBR (Shutters) - ADR is for 5:20pm on 06/02...I'm thinking it's as simple as getting on a bus at MK and heading back to our resort. Bus back to CBR...and get off at the at the appropriate stop..probably the main stop.

Exit at the International Gateway by 3:45ish..walk over to BC and hop on the DTD bus there.

CBR to CP...be at bus stop by 6:45.
CBR to Cape May..cab at 7:45
CBR to Tusker House...bus to AK by 6:45am.

Thank you SOOO much for any advice you can provide! This thread is AMAZING!!! :yay:

Hopefully this will help...any other questions, just ask.

With that schedule? Teleportation.

Seriously, you won't have enough time. I would use express checkout, check the luggage at the RAC desk at 7:30, store the carry-ons, and be at the bus stop at 8:00.

Breakfast is still a problem, though. You will need to be back at All star movies by 10:45. Even assuming you are seated on time and you take a cab back to your resort, you will have less than an hour to eat, and you likely won't see all of the characters.

If you can't get an earlier ADR, you could take a cab to the poly and take your carry-ons with you. Then you could take a cab directly from there to the airport. All together it will cost you close to $100.
