Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Staying at WL, best way to get to HS, Epcot & AK and about what time do you have to be on the bus/monorail etc. for rope drop at these parks? Thanks!:thumbsup2

Anyone know if the WL bus from DHS makes any other stops to other resorts trying to plan late adr for 9:35 at WCC after 8:00 fantasmic and wondering if it is going to be possible or not thanks!

IMO the best chance to make it would be to take a cab. You might make it by bus, but everything would have to go smoothly, no waiting for the bus and the bus goes directly to WL.

I wouldn't be that concerned about arriving a little late, at that time you will get a table almost immediately. Every time I've been there it starts thinning out by 8:30pm.

I read on disneys site to take the bus from FQ to DTD and then transfer to another bus to the resort.

Is this option faster then taking the boat from FQ to DTD?

My party consists of myself (41), my sister (33), brother-in-law (34), 2 nephews (7 & 5), and 3 month old neice.

Please help with the fastest transportation option from FQ to the following resorts for dinner:
1. Beach Club-Cape May Cafe
2. Poly-Ohana
3. Yacht Club-Captain's Grille
4. CSR-Maya Grill

Also what is the fastest way to get from MK to WL for dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe?

Thank you in advance for your assistance!:teacher:

Bus is your best bet...actually, only bet. If I want to get to a park for rope drop, get on the bus about 45 mins before park opening. Now...it all depends on how close to the front of the line you want to be...45 mins will get you there amongst the early arrivals.

Fastest??? Always a cab. But I'm assuming you mean using Disney transportation system. So...
1. bus to DHS and then either boat or walk to BC. Walk will be about 20 mins, boat ride itself is about 15-18 mins but that doesn't include any wait times for the boat to come.
2. Bus to MK, ferry or monorail to Polynesian.
3. Again, bus to DHS and boat or walk to YC
5. boat or bus to DTD and transfer to CSR bus
6. I like to take the boat over to WL from MK

You need to allow plenty of time to do these routes. Figure on about an hour tops. It will probably be less but it's better to be safe than sorry. DTD is a nasty place to make a transfer. It seems to be the longest wait-times for buses, both heading there as well as leaving there. You should allow at least an hour or possibly more when using DTD as a transfer point.

Our family trip is fast approching and I need some input from the experts, please! #1-My grandson is four years old but quite small for his age, does DME have child seats on them or do we have to lug one through the airport for him? #2-What is the easiest way to get from CSR to GF?:confused3

1. no car seat usage on DME buses. There are no seat belts, so any car seats would have to be stowed underneath the bus. This will be the case with the regular resort to park buses as well.
2. But to MK and then either monorail or boat over to GF from there.

One last think to keep in mind, and many forget about, always be aware of the park hours before planning how you are going about getting to your destination and then returning to your resort using Disney Transportation. Park hours can vary day to day, especially during the winter months. You may be at the bus stop waiting for a bus to DHS which won't be coming if the park is already closed, and it does close as early as 7pm some nights.

Using DTD as a transfer point is always an option, but as others have said it is probably the least desirable.

Thank you Goofy4Tink!

Watching Fantasmic at DHS, but then want to pop over to DTD for a late dinner. Lead me on, oh wise transportation spirits.

Take a cab, tell driver what restaurant you are going to and he will drop you as close as possible.
Cost approx $10-$15
Time 10 minutes

Otherwise you would need to walk, boat or bus to a resort ( BW is the closest )and then transfer to DTD bus.

cost $0
Time 60-90 minutes

I checked all the stickys and thought there was a cab fare chart.

When we arrive on a Friday, AK will be closing around 5pm. We will be staying at CSR and need to get to AKL for dinner. Is it best to take a cab and aprox how much would it cost? I'm thinking the regular "take a bus to DTD and then AKL" would take forever.

AK may be closed, but wouldn't one of the other parks be open (at least for before dinner). You could avoid DTD by going to one of the open parks and transferring to a bus to AKL. A cab may still be a better option.

It's approx 3.5 miles from the farthest point at CSR to the entrance of AK, that should put the cab fare at $10-$12 plus tip, and take about 10 minutes.

OK, I'm new here, so go easy... but I need some help.

I'm staying at AKL and would like to go to MK for rope drop. When I booked, my understanding was that the disney bus would take me directly to the entrance of MK, bypassing the TTC.

However, when I called the AKL to ask them about what time I should budget for this trip, I was told by a CM that all the buses that I would take from AKL would have to stop at TTC, whereafter I would have to take the monorail or ferry to the entrance of MK. No direct-to-entrance buses.

Can someone clear this up for me?

If I'm not mistaken buses from the other parks to MK go to the TTC and vise versa. Perhaps the CM was confused with buses from Animal Kingdom park.
All buses from resorts go to the MK entrance bus stop, to the best of my knowledge. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

If you wanted to be at MK for a 9am rope drop, I would suggest being at the bus stop at 7:30am just to be on the safe side, worst case is you might be a little early, but that's better than being late.

Thank you for the info - I'll leave early just in case! Looking forward to my first trip to WDW in over 30 years :)

Buses from AKL to MK go directly to MK. BUT..buses from AK park go to the TTC and then you have to ferry or monorail over to MK. Perhaps the CM misunderstood.
For rope drop, it all depends on where in the crowd you want to be. First in line, right up close to the turnstiles? Be out by 7am. Don't mind being in the back of the pack? Be out at the MK bus stop by 8am.
