Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Using Disney Transportation:

Getting from A.K. to the Hoop De Doo Revue for the 6:15pm show.

Take bus to M.K. and boat to Fort Wilderness? What time do I need to be leaving A.K. by?

Any help is appreciated.

Bus to CR, then boat over to FtW. You can take the bus to MK but you'll have to go to the TTC first, then ferry or monorail over to MK, then boat to FtW.
For a 6:15 show, I would plan on leaving AK no later than 4:45, maybe sooner.

Perfect, thanks for the tips. I will report back for any who have a question in the future the rough transit time frame.

I always recommend taking the bus to MK. If you drive, you have to go to the parking lot, either walk or take the tram to the main area, then ferry or monorail over to MK. That takes time. The bus drops you right up close to the park entrance.
Driving to other parks is fine.

If you have breakfast at CM's, you can park right at the CR. But, please don't leave the car there if you are planning on heading to MK after eating. You can park at the TTC, and then take the monorail over to the CR for breakfast, and then you are free to walk over to the MK.

If taking DME back to MCO, you will be given a pickup time of about 3 hrs prior to your flight departure. You need to be at the bus stop, ready to go, about 15 mins prior to the stated p/u time.

Thanks!

Chef mickeys is on our last day - I think we will keep the van so we can drive ourself there and then onto airport.
Do you know how long the waits for buses are from aoa? The bussing is the only part I am a bit worried a bout with a double stroller 4 year old and 8 month old!

I didn't think they were too bad. I stayed there for a night a week or so ago. I know that many people, at all the resorts, were commenting on the slower than normal buses all that week.
Not sure why there was such an across the board issue, but there was. I always figure on leaving my resort about 45 mins before I have to be at a park. That way, if the bus takes up to 25 mins to get to the resort, I still have time to get to the park. It doesn't happen often, but it does every so often.

If you have a car/van, I would take that to most of the parks, but take the bus to MK.

Does a boat go from Saratoga to Port Orleans, or do we have to go to Downtown Disney to catch the boat to Port Orleans?

I believe you have to go back to DTD and get the POR boat from there.

How would they go about split stays in resorts
Many of us do this all the time...one time, I actually switched resorts 5 times!!! You just have Bell Services collect your bags early in the morning when you're switching resorts. They will get the bags to the new resort. BUT....you won't get your bags until late afternoon. Yes, they may tell you it will be early afternoon, but that hasn't been the case for me...always after 5pm. So, if you need to have something available, take it with you.
Then, I head off to a park for a few hours. Around lunchtime I leave that park and go to the 'new' resort and get checked in. Sometimes the room is ready, sometimes it isn't.

Or, you can take a cab to the new resort, and take your bags with you. That way you will at least be able to get at the bags if you need to.

I'm sorry if this was already answered, but I was wondering if taxis go straight from the resorts to any of the theme parks?

Cabs will take you to the main parking lots at AK, Epcot and DHS. You won't get dropped off right at the entrance tho. There are specific areas where cabs are allowed to drop you off. For the MK, you will be dropped at the TTC, then you can take either the ferry or monorail over to MK.

Thanks! I don't mind wherever the drop off is, I just need to get to Epcot somehow. I'll be staying at YC/BC and I need to get to the front gates before park opening for a tour. I can't imagine they'd let us in through the back entrance to walk all the way to the front (and back out!) for this.

I have a 9:20 p.m ADR for Ohana and need to get back to AKL. What is the best way to do this? Last year we needed to get to WL from Kouzzina after parks had closed so we took the bus to DTD then switched to the bus back to WL. Is this possible that late?

Double check and see if it's EMHs that day. You may get lucky!! That was my issue....but I found it was EMHs that day. Otherwise, I would just take a cab over...won't be expensive.

You have two choices...bus to DTD and then transfer to the AKL bus, or just take a cab. I would just take the cab.
Now, I have been very lucky when asking for a cab at some of the resorts. While at the Polynesian, we asked Bell Services to call a cab for us to get back to POR...they took us themselves in a WDW white van. Then, earlier this month, I was at SSR, and needed to get to the International Gateway quickly. I asked Bell Services/Valet to call me a cab. Again, they took me in one of the white vans. Doesn't always happen, but sometimes you get lucky. I do tip them very well though. Normally, I would tip the cab driver $2-3. But, if a CM drives me, I tip close to the amount I expected to pay the cab driver...minus his tip.

Thank you. You have had good luck when asking for cabs. Good to know a range to tip too. Thanks!

Oh definitely! I don't know park hours yet but I'm just planning on worst case scenario right now. Thanks for the little tip about white vans. LOL I'll ask at the hotel the night before and see what they recommend.

I've never been to Disney World before. I'm planning a trip in Sept. and will be using Disney transit instead of renting a car. I have not been able to find any information in regards to how long it might take to get to the parks from specific resorts.

I'm looking at staying at SSR. Any ideas on how long of a bus ride I'd be looking at to get to each of the four main theme parks? For example, I'm not even sure whether to expect a 10 minute ride or 60 minute ride from SSR to Epcot.

I got this information from the PassPorter guidebook:

Magic Kingdom: Direct bus - about 25 minutes

Epcot: Direct bus - about 10 minutes

Hollywood Studios: Direct bus - about 15 minutes

Animal Kingdom: Direct bus - about 20 minutes

DTD: walk/bus/boat - about 15/10/7 minutes

There are 5 bus stops at SSR, and it says in PassPorter that these are the approximate times you will spend in transit from resort to destination, which I interpret as meaning from the time the bus stops at the last stop at the resort.
