Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

I'm looking at how to get back to AoA from The Wave around 9-10 pm, when MK is closed? Go mono to Epcot then Bus to AoA? In general how long after the parks close to buses to resorts run??
Thanks
Generally speaking, the park buses run for at least an hour after park closing. Just head to any park that is still open. If the parks have all closed within the past hour or so, take the bus to DTD and transfer to your resort bus from there.

Let me apologize in advance if this has been asked... this is quite a huge thread!

We're staying at POR. We're planning to go to DTD for dinner at T-rex one night but then I was thinking about maybe heading over to the Boardwalk to walk around in the evening. DTD is too crowded and crazy and we have never been to the Boardwalk. Is there a way to get to the Boardwalk from DTD? I'm assuming one of the resort buses might take us there... (Sorry I'm new to Disney transportation! We've always rented a car in the past.)

From the Boardwalk how do we get back to POR?

Also what is the best way to get to Chef Mickey's from POR for breakfast?

Thanks!!

You can easily take a bus to BW from DTD....all the resorts have busing to/from DTD. To get back to POR is a bit harder...if there is a park still open when you're ready to leave BW, just take the bus to that park, and then the bus from the park to POR. Or, you can take the bus back to DTD, and then the boat back to POR...that would be my choice. Or, you can take a cab from BW to POR.

To get to Chef Mickey's, just take the bus to the MK. You can then walk over to the CR and Chef Mickey's....about an 8 min walk. Or, you can ask the driver, when you board the MK bus, which is faster to the CR, the monorail or walking. sometimes the driver will offer to drop you off right at the CR!

Hi All!

My hubby is going to do the exotic car experience while we are there in Feb. and he would like to book it for the first session @ 8:00am because he doesn't think he'll be able to withstand his excitement if he had to wait through the day!!!! How do we get from AOA to the speedway at that time in the morning?

Thanks for your input and sorry if this had been asked before.

At that time of the morning, I think I'd just spring for a cab..... Someone should be along to tell s if there are any other reasonable options. I have never been to the speedway, but have heard there is a bus that goes there, not sure at all of any details though.

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards App, please excuse any typos or autocorrects!

They have a van that picks up at the TTC.

When you call for the reservation, make sure the van is available for that first session, and ask what time he needs to be at TTC. One hour before that time, take the bus to MK, and then the Resort Monorail to TTC. First bus should be leaving around 6:30 to 6:45, and the Resort Monorail opens at 7, so he could be at TTC as early as 7:30.

When boarding the bus at AOA, he should tell the driver that he needs to get to TTC. The driver may offer to drop him off there (but don't count on it.)

If the bus hasn't arrived, say ... 40 minutes before the time he needs to be at TTC, he may want to grab a cab as Plan B. But expect the cab fare to be close to $20.

Thank you very much for the info! Knowing my DH he will probably forgo the early morning course for the possibility of a little more sleep, but then again we will be in Disney and as we all know different rules apply!!! Thanks again!:thumbsup2

I'm guessing we're probably just going to take a cab, but, just want to see if we can do it by bus if we choose to. We're planning to see Bob Jackson at the River Roost and will have a rental car, but, don't want to drive since we will probably imbibe a little! I'm thinking if we were to go the bus route we would bus from POR to DTD and then transfer to AK Kidani Village bus? Sound right?
IMO it will take forever to do that and probably better to just taxi it.......

AKV Kidani to Cape May dinner at Beach Club...

Would it be easiest to go to the Animal Kingdom park & then take a bus to Beach Club? Or transfer at DTD? Last time I swear the bus driver took the longest way ever to DTD from AKV Kidani! We could always drive as well!

You could head to DTD, but it's going to take you a long time. I would just take a cab...much easier.

Or, you could hop on the bus to DHS and then boat or walk to BC for dinner. If it's late when you are done eating, then either get a cab, or take the bus to DTD and transfer to the Kidani bus there.

I have a conference that starts at 7:30am-12pm at the Yacht Club from 12/28-12/30/12. I am staying at the AKL.

I know I can take the bus to DHS and walk to the Yacht Club. If DHS opens at 8am or 9am, what time does the bus service start? I've read that the bus service starts at 6:30am; does it change depending on what time the parks open? Is the 6:30am start the same for all the parks?

Also what is the approx cost for a taxi ride to the Yacht club?

Thanks.

Bus service from the resorts to parks starts at 6:30, but an hour to make the trip might be pushing it. A cab would cost you about $20 and would be well worth it.

This will be our first time to WDW (12/12/12-12/24/12) as well as my very first post on the boards. I've been trying to plan and map out the World, but am getting a little overwhelmed with how big everything is and have no idea how to get around. It will be 5 of us: myself, two kids (11 and 13) and both my parents are handicapped on ECV's. We are also staying at BLT. If anyone could suggest the best way to get around it would be greatly appreciated. We will not have a car.

Day 1 (arrival day no park, just exploring)
Check in at BLT
Lunch at Beaches n Cream
8pm ADR at Narcoossees

Day 2 (AK)-only 1 parent w/ECV is joining us @ this park
8am Wild Africa Trek tour: what time should we leave? Are there busses that early even though the park doesn't open till 9am? We are going to MVMCP that night with both parents (2 ECV's), but will just walk from BLT.

Day 3 (DHS)-only 1 parent w/ECV is joining us @ this park all day

Day 4 (EP)-both parents w/2 ECV joining us @ this park all day

-Another day we need to get from BLT to the Sleigh Ride at Fort Wilderness with both parents on ECV's

We also want to spend one day touring the grounds and looking at decorations at the various resorts. Any suggestions on a tour route and which resorts we must see for this with both parents on ECV's?

Do the taxi's accomodate ECV's? Was thinking that some nights we would just catch a taxi back to BLT after the parks or should we use other transportation (monorail, bus...)

Sorry so many questions, and thank you to anyone who can help.

Welcome to the DIS boards, and to the Transportation board!!!

So...
Day 1....take a bus to DHS and then boat or walk to YC/BC. Kind of not worth the hassle in my opinion, but hey, it's a non-park day, so why not.
Monorail over to Nacoossess at GF.

Day 2...the buses will start running by 6:30am..every morning. For the 8am Trek, I would be out at the bus stop by 6:45. If you just miss a bus, you will have a longish wait (up to 20/25 mins!!), so be there before 7!!

Day 3...bus to DHS, ECV won't be an issue.

Day 4...monorail over to the TTC, and transfer to the Epcot monorail line. ECVs will not be an issue.

When you get to BLT/CR, you can go down to the dock and see what times the boats to FtW run. I'm not sure where the Sleigh Ride runs from...so that could make a difference in how you get there.

Two ECVs could pose an issue....it will mean you may find yourselves waiting longer than normal since buses hold up to 2 ECVs. There could be someone else with an ECV at your stop in addition to your parents...so plan accordingly if both ECVs are going to need to board. It could take you longer to wait for a bus that can accommodate both parents.

So, with that in mind....I like to ride the monorail and check out the Polynesian (not a huge amount to see here, imho), then the GF. When you get to the MK, you can get off the monorail and take a bus to one of the Epcot resorts...YC/BC/BW/S/D. There, check those resorts out...easily done by just walking around the lake. When you're ready to head back to BLT, just hop on the MK bus.

While at BLT, you should take the boat over to WL and check that out as well...very nicely decorated.

I'm sure there are cabs that will accommodate ECVs. I would go over to the CR, and talk to the CMs there. They can give you advice as to what cabs you should be looking at....then they can call one for you.

Thank you so much for all the advice. It definitely puts me more at ease not having to worry about how my parents will get around. I truly appreciate your time. Thanks again!

We will have a rental car but I also want to experience some of the other forms of transportations available, and use the rental when it makes sense for the days I have planned.

What is the best way to to do the following and estimated times if you know them?

1 - POR to Epcot. From Epcot to Contemporary. From Contemporary to POR.

2. POR to MK. POR to MK

3. POR to HS. HS to POR.

4. Get from Contemporary to Boardwalk. From Boardwalk to DTD. From DTD to POR.

5. POR to POLY and then back to POR

6. POR to AK. AK to Fort Wilderness. Fort Wilderness to POR

Thanks

I love all the advise from this thread and I've been paying close attention to everyone's questions. Now I have one myself! I want to see the Christmas version of Mickey's Jingle Parade at AK....so that starts at 3:45pm. My problem is we have tickets to La Nouba at DTD for the 6pm show. Is it totally unrealistic to be able to see the parade and still make it to DTD? We will not have a rental car.

Thanks for any insight!

Via Disney transportation, you would have to get very lucky to make it, having virtually no wait times for buses from AK to a resort and then from a resort to DTD plus the walk from PI bus stop to La Nouba.

It should be very doable by taxi, but it will cost you approx $20-$22 plus tip.

1.Bus to Epcot. (about 30 mins, depending on wait times) Then monorail to the TTC and transfer to the resort monorail. (about 45 mins). Walk over to MK, take bus to POR (45 mins)

2. Bus, both ways (45 mins each way, again depending on wait times)

3. Bus, both ways (45 mins each way, see above)

4. Walk over to MK, bus to BW (or bus to DHS and walk or boat to BW) (45-60 mins). Bus to DTD from BW (about 30 mins). Either bus or boat to POR from DTD...I prefer the boat. (45 mins)

5. Bus to MK, boat or monorail to Polynesian. Reverse it back to POR (45-60 mins)

6. Bus to AK (30-40 mins). Bus to FtW (30-45 mins). Get over to MK via the boat (or bus depending on where you are in FtW) then bus back to POR (60 mins)

I have given you very ballpark times.....times can vary based on wait times. Plan accordingly. WDW tells us to plan on 60-90 mins between point A and point B. That's at the other end of the spectrum. I usually plan on about 45-60 mins, tops, for most destinations.

If you get to the area, along the parade route, that is closest to the park exit, you might be able to get to the bus stop by 4:30ish...maybe. Then you need to get to a resort....probably AKL since it's the closest to AK. Then, wait for the bus to DTD from there. Then the ride to DTD, and your stop is the second one...West Side. I doubt you would make it in time. If you decide to do this, I would just take a cab, directly from Epcot to DTD..that would allow you to do what you want.

I am looking for some advice on the best way to get to and between parks on Saturday, 11/24/12. We will be driving from Port Orleans Riverside and going to Epcot in the morning and then going to the Magic Kingdom from Epcot for dinner at Be Our Guest. Would it be faster for us to park at the TTC in the morning and take the monorail to Epcot and then take the monorail to the Magic Kingdom? Or would it be faster to drive to Epcot and park in the morning and then drive to the TTC for the monorail for dinner?

If we park at the TTC in the morning and use the monorail how long will it take to get to Epcot and how long will it take to get from Epcot to the Magic Kingdom?

If we drive from Epcot to the TTC how much time will we need to allow to get from Epct to the gates at the Magic Kingdom?

Thank you for your help.

Michele
