Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Thanks for the warning! We arrive Saturday and I was going to drop my husband and sons at DTD while my daughter and I hit the outlet mall, and I thought it would work out well for my husband and sons to meet us back at the YC... maybe not...
It will be OK, but allow an hour to get back to YC. It may be less hassle than you driving into DTD on a Saturday evening and trying to meet up with them; traffic can get pretty bad in the area.

They might shave 10-15 minutes off the travel time by boarding the bus at PI rather than the Marketplace. In the afternoon and evening, all buses from DTD normally stop at all 5 Epcot resorts; YC should be the 3rd one.

And no picnicking on the bus, please.

Good point on the traffic, thanks! We'll have to see what it's looking like right then, I guess.

I had to stop to think what you meant about the picnicking... :rotfl2: I'm sure my guys will be too full on Ghirardelli to be thinking about a picnic on the bus!

Picnic isn't for 'on' the bus silly!! It's for the protracted wait 'for' the bus!!!!

And I agree. If there is no urgancy, then sure, have them take the bus back to YC. I just like to warn posters that it isn't a quick process.

Quick question for all of the experts,
My 1st daughter has a 1100am res @ the BBB downtown disney,
We then have a 130p res @ magic kingdom.
Do you suggest getting on the 1st bus to one of the monorail resorts then going to magic kingdom? any suggestions? Thank you:confused3

That would work. I would actually try for the CR bus...that way you can just walk to MK from there. If the GF bus comes along first, you can take that one as well...the monorail stops at MK right after GF.
If it gets to be about 12:30, and you're still at DTD, I would just take a cab over to the CR.

So I have a cold and I can't think straight- we are doing Hoop
de Doo tonight. MK closes at 6, we are at the late show.

Best way to get to HDDR from AKL and back again?

I would take the bus to Epcot or DHS (whichever comes first), then bus to WL, and finally bus to FtW. (The bus to WL will continue on to FtW Outpost, but it'll be faster to transfer at WL than to take the internal shuttle from the Outpost.) Allow 1 hour 20 minutes.

At Epcot, the WL/FtW bus boards at Load Zone #9; at DHS its #13.

After the show, there should be buses available to the resorts near Pioneer Hall.

WWYD:

We will have 'Ohana reservations for dinner and need to rent a car in the afternoon for use early the following day. We will be staying at POFQ. Our 2 itinerary choices for that morning are BB or DQ.

At first I thought DQ made sense since the car rental hotels are not too far away at the Marketplace. But we're rope drop people and the boats to DTD and water taxis to the Westside get going so late. We would want to be queued up outside DQ by 10:45 at the latest. I've also heard that the bus service from POFQ to DTD is really infrequent b/c they expect you to take a boat.

Would it be easier to do BB in the morning, send the family on a bus back to POFQ while I catch the bus to SSR from BB and walk to DTD? Which stop would I get off at? Is there a better way? TIA!

First boat leaves POFQ shortly after 10 a.m. I think it would get you to DTD by 10:30. The PO boat docks at the Marketplace, so it would be about a 15 minute walk to DQ, which would put you there right around 10:45. Or you could take the water taxi from MktPlace to West Side; not sure whether that would beat walking.

If you're not comfortable with that, the buses start around 8:30. Bus service to DTD from PO is the same as from everywhere else: about every 20 minutes. A.M. buses normally stop at Mktpkace only; you could ask the driver if you could be dropped at PI, but there's no guarantee. FQ is the last stop at PO for DTD buses, but they will stop at TL before DTD in the a.m., so allow 20 minutes travel + 20 minutes wait.

The BB option works, too. If you take the bus to SSR, watch to see if a DTD bus passes in the opposite direction while your bus is traveling between Grandstand & Carousel. If one does, you can get off at Carousel and board it, saving yourself the walk.

What is best route (using Disney transportation) to get from Animal Kingdom to Biergarten?
A. Bus to front of Epcot and walk to back of WS
B. Bus to Beach Club and enter Epcot through International Gateway
C. Wait at AK bus stop for the first bus that shows up (for options A or B above)

By best route I mean quickest and least amount of walking for small kids

It is probably going to be a bit less walking if you take the bus to BC or BW from AK, and then enter Epcot through the International Gateway.
But, it might take a bit more time that way. If it were me, I would take the bus to BW or BC and enter through the Intl Gateway directly into WS and then over to Germany.

Actually it's a longer walk from the bus stop at either the BC or BW to the German Pavilion than it is from the bus stop at the front of Epcot by a couple of football fields, so you're probably better taking the bus to the front of Epcot if you want to save steps.

If you really want to cut down on walking, you can take the boat from FW to Germany. Try the dock to the left of the gift shops (towards Mexico) first; if it's closed, go to the dock near Canada (or just walk the rest of the way),

We are going 11/9-11/13. We are staying at POP ans taking Magical Express from MCo to resort. As far as while we are at WDW, should we take bus everywhere or cabs? And then on the 13th, we need to get from WDW Resort to Port Canaveral. We thought of renting a car, but then how should we get from Port Canaveral to MCO on 11/17! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Help!

I would stick with Disney transportation while at WDW. For Canaveral, sounds like you are cruising. Line up a towncar - you make reservations for pickup at the resort, and they will meet you after your cruise. And you don't have to worry about navigating unknown territory! They charge a flat fee, depending on what size transport you need. I use Tiffany from the airport, and I have seen Port Canaveral on their website.

BUS - The AK to EP bus is much quicker because the AK to BC bus will make four other stops (BB, SW, DO & YC) before reaching the BC

Walking - BC bus stop to Biergarten is 1,320 yds while the front of Epcot to Biergarten is 1,560 yds. This results in only about 4 additional minutes of walking.

Even though the walking part is slightly more; Option A, will take considerably less time, overall.

What is the best route from POP to AK? ANd POP to Polynesian? And POP to Contemporary?
