I wonder what made Nikki's father kill Jessica?

From what I understood, it seems he was an abusive drunken father. I think one of his beatings went too far.

I see him as collecting the pieces to make a whole. Like the watch in the beginning, something about the parts being from a different country or something like that?

Anyone else notice the "eclipse" light effect when Nathan was told about his wife?

Sylar....oh I saw him as "seeing" into the heads of the emerging Heroes...much as he did into a broken or near broken watch and seeing what was different. Somehow he was able to take the part of Denis (What was his name?) mind/power/soul and incorporate or absorb it into himself, without recognizing his own inate power. He has a great potential of super villian.

I really liked Niki's past. Her fractured psyche holds her power. I like.

Hiro. Oh my Hiro. Seeing your heart broken in such a sweet way...You are such the Hiro.

Next week's preview...I am kind of hoping a Petrelli brother is the one killed. Their storyline is and has been, flat to me. Issac was so not in this week's episode, I could almost see him or even Tim (Radiation guy intro'ed last week) getting offed.

Maybe Ando is killed? He's not with Future(hotstuff)Hiro, and FhH is pretty sad, so it's possible...

No, I think it is Nikki's husband. They have showed so many clips of her taking a shot at him, I think it will be him that will be killed off. He does have the powers too, like disappearing into walls or turning invisible or something like that. I think it will be him.

I don't think it will be Hiro because remember he comes to Peter on the train from the future.

I'm new to this comic book geek stuff. Matt, since you are one of the resident experts, can you explain what an empath typically can do? Do they absorb powers temporarily or forever? I know MysteryMachine gave an opinion, but since there was an "I think" at the beginning of the statement, I'd like to know Matt's opinion, or that of other self-proclaimed "geeks."

Okay, I'm about a week behind on this thread, so I apologize if I duplicate what anyone else has said.

In comics, empathy has been more of a psychic power, so to speak. It's the ability to read and sense the emotions of others -- Deanna from Star Trek: TNG would be a better example from television and movies that many might know about.

What Peter has is similar to Rogue from X-Men -- the ability to absorb or duplicate another person's abilities. Rogue requires physical contact but Peter just needs to be in close proximity to the person. On the other hand, Rogue also absorbs the person's memories as well. Peter seems to be able to tap memories to some extent, but not as much as Rogue. In the comics, Rogue fought another character -- Ms. Marvel -- and maintained contact with her for too long and permanently absorbed her powers and memories. Otherwise, Rogue's absorption is temporary. IIRC, it's a 1:60 ratio -- one minute of contact gives Rogue the powers for 60 minutes, and the person she touched is rendered unconscious.

I'm trying to think of a precise term used to describe this power from the comics, but can't think of one, so I guess "power empathy" is as good as anything.

In the fight last week with Sylar, I think Peter could have fought back with abilities absorbed from Sylar if he had known what kind of abilities he had absorbed from him.

Okay, I have to leave for work now, but I'll get caught up when I get home tonight.

In the preview it showed Issac getting off a bus and meeting with Hiro and Ando so I don't think it will be him. Issac "died" at his New York flat. They seem to have a "time is always in motion" way of dealing with the past and future as Hiro moves through them. By changing one aspect of one point in time, it changes the future enough to keep some events from happening (but not all. Hiro can't change that Charlie is ill and thus can't "save her life",)

Last nights episode did not keep my attention too well *sigh*. Sat there going "yea, that's great... but what about Peter and Syler and Bennett ahhhhh!!!???" Loved the intro to Eden though and the explanation of the car crash.

I thought that for sure it would be DL to die next week. Then I got to thinking that if he can put his hand through metal, can the metal of the bullet pass through him without causing any harm? So, I'm not sure.

Maybe they'll introduce a new hero, like Brian Davis next week and they'll kill him off like they did Brian.

Maybe Mohinder's ex-girlfriend has some sort of power that is revealed next week and she is the one that is killed?

This can go a bunch of different ways without killing off any of the main characters.

Sylar is so cute. I really like the actor though he was Tori Spellings friend in So NoTORIous. LOL yes I watched that show.

I'm not sure who gets killed off. I could see it being Nikis husband or even Isaac. If he keeps painting then I could see it getting old after awhile of the Heroes always going to look for what he painted. Of course without him they wouldn't have a jumping off point.

I'd hate to see Pete killed. His hair does drive me crazy too but I see him as so far a main Hero on the show. Of course with the way these shows like to shock us he could be a goner.

I have my money on Radioactiveman dying....Why?

I think they are tricking us into thinking that he is the cause of the "Explosion" but they are going to kill him off so they can further torture us.
I consider radioactiveman a "red shirt" anyway, (dead man getting killed off the show, for non-Star Trek folks).

Maybe Power of Persuasion girl will be killed by Sylar. I think that DL will be saved by Nikki. Jessica will shoot the gun but Nikki will take over and move the gun to the side. Sylar is a real nut job. I'm still trying to figure out Claire's dad.

I forgot to add that I saw that they will have a Heroes marathon on the SciFi channel but I'm not sure when. Anyone catch that? I can't wait to rewatch everything and dissect it all!
