I loved this episode! Well, ok, I love all the episodes. I can't wait to find out what is up with Sylar. I was excited just to see asmall portion of his face (eye) Although gross, the way he sliced the cheerleader's (Jackie) head was awesome. I knew Peter would survive because he was with Claire. I wonder how he's gonna get out of the murder rap though. I hope DL is ok.

I don't think Hiro saves her because, she's still dead in this episode. He looks sad in the picture as if he knows he cannot save her.

I'm excited about the 6 months ago episode coming up. I wonder is Jessica the manifestation of of Nikki's dead twin sister or something? I think that we will get a lot more insight in seeing how their powers all began in this one. I guess their (Jessica/Nikki) dad wasn't a good man.

I was wondering the same thing last night.

I don't think he's a traitor. I think he's just being a friend trying to help Claire accept and be comfortable with who and what she is, just as he is comfortable with who and what he is. Part of that is realizing that she doesn't have to be an outsider even if she's not part of the popular clique.

I had a feeling that Claire finding Peter would cause him to heal himself. Slightly predictable, but done well, especially when Claire saw that he is like her. That had to make her think that she's not alone and gave her the confidence to tell her father about her abilities.

No doubt, also, that Peter will be free once Claire tells the police that he saved her life and didn't kill Jackie. I'm guessing she left before he completely healed, giving him the scar Hiro mentioned. Claire's dad may also get involved, and hopefully we'll learn more about his organization.

The main characters definitely need to learn how to use their powers and the value of teamwork, especially Peter. He should have been able to copy Sylar's powers and use them against him (although I'm sure it would be helpful knowing exactly what powers to use). Of course, the best thing about this show is how it shows ordinary, everyday people coping with something extraordinary happening to them.

I don't think Peter knows how to pick which power to use or who has what power if he doesn't know them.

I assumed Peter was able to put himself back together because of his ability to pick up on other's abilities. She couldn't save the other cheerleader.

That's what I said to my friend...he said, "Well, Peter's done for," and I said, "No, he was just with Claire, so he'll be okay." I'm kind of wondering if he has to be with the person directly or within a few minutes to pick up their abilities, or if he somehow keeps them once he's exposed to them

I think the person has to be within area..My guess would be the closer they are the better, faster he absorbs.
He does not keep them.

Event though Peter saw himself dead, he still went on the advice of Hiro. He trusted him.

Of course this calls into question Issac and his fortune telling....he was unable to paint perhaps because he could not predict the future.

Hiro...well I don't know...has ME stumped. Maybe he could not come back as someone said.

I'm new to this comic book geek stuff. Matt, since you are one of the resident experts, can you explain what an empath typically can do? Do they absorb powers temporarily or forever? I know MysteryMachine gave an opinion, but since there was an "I think" at the beginning of the statement, I'd like to know Matt's opinion, or that of other self-proclaimed "geeks."

I'd also like to know how Ando is milking his time in that diner. The waitress kept pouring him coffee over and over. How long can someone sit in a diner without the staff starting to wonder about why they are hanging out for so long?

I can't say with 100% accuracy for all comic book empaths, but as far as I know it's a temporary ability. For example, if you watch the X-Men movie, Rogue only absorbs abilities temporarily. She's a bit different since she needs to touch someone.

I think Isaac can still paint the future, but the painting he did was more pressing at the moment since people were all ready into play with the Claire situation, and Hiro going back in time threw things off.

I think Hiro going back in time and then not coming right back explains how he spoke english to Peter in the Subway.
He had to wait for his powers to happen.

I had assumed that any abilities Peter had absorbed from Claire would be "overwritten" once he made physical contact with Sylar.

I wonder if he can keep more than one ability on a temporary basis. In any event, we knew he would not be any more hurt than Sylar was since they were in contact with each other as they fell.

Still, it seemed to be Claire's abilities that he was using.

Actually Rogue (in the comic book) has, in addition to her power absorbing ability, the power to fly and super human strength. BOTH of these powers she got after a fight with Marvel Girl, whom she absorbed the powers from and then decided to keep! So I don't see why Peter COULDN'T keep a power if he knew how to.

I am really interested to see who Sylar is and why he's doing what he's doing. Also, why is he so powerful. It almost seems like he is keeping the powers of those he kills? Like Peter....

I am intrigued by Isaacs last painting. Who exactly will be the big orange glowy guy with laser beams coming out of his hands? I hope it's Peter.

Hiro...you are so cool! I really want to see when he turns into Samurai pony-tail guy! Poor Ando. Is Ando Japanese for sidekick? I wish He had a super power too.

I'm getting frustrated with the Nikki/Jessica subplot. What does it have to do with the story at all?

I know you didn't ask me, but for know, until his power grows, is very temporary. Empaths...as I understand them, not so much from comics, but other sci-fi types shows...have the power to feel others' emotions...maybe a reason Peter became a nurse, and how he said he KNEW when Nathan had his accident. They can use this ability to feel emotions to use other "heroes'" powers because powers usually are connected to one's emotions(remember how when the radioactive guy got uspset and boiled the glass of water). I for one think Empathy is the coolest power!

Hello everyone. I just saw this thread and have to join. I'm a huge fan and would love to talk "heros" with others.

For one moment last night I thought that Nathan was Sylar. I just about came unglued!! Then they showed him again and it didn't look like him. I keep thinking that Sylar is going to turn out to be someone we already know.

I think Claire just needed to be nearby. If memory serves me right, she came back to check on Peter after Sylar left and that's when he sat up and started to heal.

What I want to know if Peter could use Sylar's muliple abilities if they are near each other. If Sylar can only use one ability at a time could Peter only use the ability that Sylar had chosen or could Peter choose a different one of Sylar's abilities?
