Official Glass Slipper Challenge Thread

Apparently no Run Disney ticket or room discounts this year. This is from the Run Disney Mom. I was hoping for the discounted two day park hopper they have offered in the past.

So we have similar age running stories. I started running in 2008 and did the 15k Minnie marathon and then at 50 did the 19th WDW marathon and yeah I did it again this year, the medal was just too cool.

I miss the 15k Minnie - I did all 3 of them! I was on the fence about trying ANY full, but the medal pushed me over too!

Ugh. I've been having ankle issues for a little over a week. My left ankle was swollen, but not painful at all. Finally gave in and went to the doctor yesterday. He said I have tendinitis and I should rest it as much as possible for two weeks. Plus ice, elevation and ibuprofen. I've never had any kind of "injury". Very frustrating. I'm curious, do any of you see sports medicine doctors or physical therapists for injuries? Or do you stick with your regular doc? The primary care doc I saw seemed clear on the problem, but I wonder if the most effective treatment, and more importantly best course of action for preventing it from happening again might be better handled by a specialist.

I switched to a PCP who is also a runner. She quickly will refer me to a specialist if the issue the issue needs further treatment. I have found non-runner PCPs just tell me to stop running and frequently misdiagnosed me. Yeah right!

That stinks...especially since they had shown--until today, apparently--that there would be discounted tickets.

Actual exchange:
Me: "My foot hurts when I run more than five miles."
Orthopedist: "Don't run more than five miles."

:furious:

He got quite an earful ;).

Does this burn anybody else up? :furious:

I went on the Moms Panel & saw this answer for myself. These discounts are a big appeal for the weekend for me. I've voiced my dissatisfaction to rD which will probably be met w/ a canned response. Since this info only came out today, for those of us who registered early & are on a tight budget, it feels like a 'GOTCHA!.

specially they jack up the weekend to "peak" rates for the hotel- at least the discounts made everything a wash.
We are making runDisney events too popular! They used to need to entice us with discounts to get us to do it and now they don't need them to get the same sold out results! :headache:

I'm so excited my friend and I got registered! We've got our room all squared away, too! I booked it a few weeks ago through DVC for the weekend and the week after! We're making it a girl's week and my mom and one of her friends or my aunt will be joining us. We're so stoked since we're all such big Disney fans.

Can't wait to see all the awesome Princesses that are showing their Princess Power!

This exactly what I am afraid of. I can handle a week off of all exercise, two will be tough. But I'm afraid the doctor just gave me the standard obvious answer and in the end it might not be the best course of action. If pain (which I now have) isn't gone by end of the weekend I'm going to ask for a pt referral or a sports med doc, changing PCPs where I live is tough, there's a shortage. Thanks for the reply.

Things change...
ticket discounts
date of race...it used to be in March, way AFTER pres. week and I liked it that way. Disney does what they want because we will pay for it.
I wasn't going to run this coming year, I have done all 5, but they added the GSC and they got me.

I had already decided I wasn't going to do parks so the new change doesn't effect me. But the fact I wasn't going to do it again...until the GSC. I have gone from spending $0 to already $288 + I booked a room, add another $600 (hoping for a later discount, they only have rack rate now) and add flight and food etc, etc. So...I guess if one can afford it they do it. Not sure how other do it, but for me I wouldn't even do it if I couldn't pay up front for it. I think I am spending alot of money on myself...I spent over 3 weeks in Spain last fall for about $2000..that was for everything, flight, food, lodging and already I am well on my way to spending that for 4 days. Anyone want to share a room?

Joan would you like me to add you to the hotel list? I can add on there you are looking for a roommate.? Just let me know what hotel. Michele

If a race sells out in a matter of hours... They can pretty much do what they want with rooms and tickets

Can always stay offsite!
