*****Official February 2015 Thread! Come check in and chat!*****

We are heading down tomorrow from Vancouver. Rain here = full rainsuits and rubber boots. Do I need to pack this if they are forecasting rain? Or could I get away with raincoats and an extra pair of runners??
WA or BC?

I'm guessing BC because in WA, they wouldn't be wearing raincoats :D If I'm remembering correctly, CA does the slow drizzle type of rain and not the downpour type.

I am guessing since it is just one afternoon of rain in the forecast right now (Saturday PM), it will be more of a drizzle. That is totally a guess though! I am just planning on wearing a sweatshirt and hoping it doesn't pour!

I'm here now and waiting to see what day two will bring for us. We had a full first day and my kids are beat. We started in DCA and made it in time to be there for a good view of rope drop. We were able to ride RSR twice, meet Lightening McQueen, have a snack at Cozy Cone, Ride Luigi's and Mater's Junk Yard all before 11! Then we watched a CM who is family perform in Olaf's snow fest. We took a break back at PPH after that and then
For those lucky souls who are already in the park, can anyone confirm if the midway games next to TSMM are open or closed? There is a Goofy Fishing game, a Bullseye horse racing one and one more.

Thanks!
Yes, they are all open :)

Yay, thank you so much!

My day is looking up...Today I got a call from a very wonderful customer representative from Cheesecake Factory...long story short she is replacing my 75.00 giftcard that never came and appologized that the company who Cheesecake Factory uses to send gift cards did not make it right when I contacted them. The rep was more than friendly & I feel much better since I will now be receiving the giftcard I purchased for our upcoming Disney Trip! Thank you Valerie @ Cheesecake Factory:littleangel:

To answer rain questions, we spent about a day and half in the rain last year in Feb. One thing is that it can get cold with the rain, so make sure you wear sweaters/sweatshirts under your ponchos/raincoats. And it really doesn't matter how hard its raining, if you're walking around in it for a lengthy period of time, you'll get soaked if you're not protected. So, for us, its long rain coats, rain boots, hood or rain hats, and warm stuff underneath. The water wasn't as bothersome as the cold, if I recall. 65 degrees isn't bad unless you're wet.

Depends on your preference, I think. When we were there it was raining hard. We got pretty wet - we were wearing normal clothes with sweatshirts/jackets (with a hood). Once the rain stopped we dried off pretty quick. Personally, I would not pack rain coats and rain boots, but that is just me. :)

I found this picture I took in February 2013 when we visited. See the tarp? I wonder if the castle will eventually be covered in one like this?

It's a great day! Just saw this posted in another thread. http://docdar.tumblr.com/post/110081531343/the-castle-is-covered-in-the-original-concept-art YES! It just was covered it something other than brown tarp! :flower1: and to make the day better I got another confirmation from Disney that tarp will be down when walk through opens March 3rd--so my family may see castle afterall. :lovestruc

I really love that! (I mean, for having the castle covered, ya know?) YAY, so glad you can see the castle and walk through it!! Good day is right! :D

I figured I'd mention this because so many are getting revaccinated for measles so in case you want to make other plans - the vaccine for measles currently covers genotype A strain. The measles strain going around right now (as far as I have heard all tested) are coming up as B3 (which is the common strain for international measles). So just as an fyi, the vax may not be as effective or not at all effective against the strain at DL.

CDC announcement on it being B3 - it's in the middle - http://emergency.cdc.gov/han/han00376.asp

CDC genetic analysis, the vaccine genotype is right under where they name all the genotypes. http://www.cdc.gov/measles/lab-tools/genetic-analysis.html

We had rain when we were there in December. It was a delightful day! Not too busy and rides never had more than a 30 minute wait after it cleared up. When it was actually raining a lot of things were walk on. It was also a weekday so that likely played a role too... regardless I would do rainy day again for sure.

In other news.... My heart is heavy. My grandmother passed monday and if the funeral is scheduled this weekend we will be skipping Disneyland. Then kids thankfully don't know about our surprise trip but I was just starting to get prepared to go. I could sure use the trip after the week I've had but such is life.

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear about your loss.

When we were here in Feb 2013, there was a rain event...torrential pouring with hail mixed in!! It was freezing! We usually drive down so we have our winter coats and shoes, but we still gave up and hid in our room for the day. The good thing is when they get these storms they seem to be over with really quick! You can buy those plastic ponchos so if you had a warm hoody under and some water proof shoes you would be fine. It was another hot day here, Sat yhey just said it does not look like it will shower after all, buy by next wednesday there may be some rain.

Amber, I'm so sorry for your loss! My FIL passed on 3 months ago; being able to pull this trip together was very soothing for me. Hopefully you will get to reschedule the trip soon, and it will bring some light to a dark time!

Just.... so.... close.... I can see the pedestrian entrance! But, I'm not going into the parks until tomorrow, so I'll be on the disboards tonight to wile the time away when I'm not in DTD!
