*****Official February 2015 Thread! Come check in and chat!*****

I read that Canadians cannot order from Von's which is unfortunate. Not that I would want to order much, but it would be so much more convenient than taking a taxi to Walmart or Target to get $20-$30 worth of staples for a child and adult.

I tried to look on the Von's USA website but, got redirected to the Canadian site so could not see any information about ordering from Von's. Any tips from a Canadian who has used them? I have read about using the Zip Code of the hotel, but also read that one needs a credit card issued in the USA.

On another note, was in my local Walmart and although they have "summer" clothes for women, there was basically nothing for girls. I have 3 weeks and hope I can get DD some new shorts and some character clothing. Target Canada is starting liquidation this week, so maybe I will luck out there.

Got my measles booster today, so I should be all good to go for the trip.

I've got a Von's account and I don't remember there being any issue signing up, I've ordered from them successfully twice. I used the hotel address as my residence and used my Mastercard to pay. This is the page I use to log in and you can sign up there as well, just make sure you have the hotel zip code available, for the hotel I have listed in the first post for you the zip is 92802.

I hear you on the summer clothes issue! Do you have an Old Navy near you? I managed to find some shorts there for my son and really that was the only place that had anything at all!

We are now at the hotel by the airport, relaxing and waiting for dinner. This time tomorrow night we'll be walking around DTD!!! It's freezing here right now so I am counting down the hours until we fly to warmer temps!! :)

All of you people posting about being on your way is making the next 5 days go by soooooooooooooooooooooo slow!

So so jealous! Had the longest day at work today and had to escape to my happy place in my mind telling myself its only 23 more days (more than once-LOL)...looking forward to the weekend though--as I say this I laugh since its only Tuesday! Have soccer & softball and more packing to do to keep my mind on the prize. DH leaves for Seattle for work all next week so that will definetly speed things up and keep me busy. DD already wanting to work on Valentines.

For those of you in the park please continue to update if the castle changes (and by changes, I mean improves in appearance, new painted tarp perhaps).:genie: That is the only thing I am seacretly hoping for...or that they uncover it much sooner than anticipated. Either way, it helps me mentally prepare. I showed my DH some of the park picks last night and he was shocked, as we've only been spring break (twice) with DD and other than critter country, we have never seen the "off season". Anyhow I reassured him we will have a FAB time regarless...although I think my convincing him of a winter gettaway to Disney in the future might be far fetched. But then again this will be our 3rd trip and I never thought we'd go 3 times from WA due to expense. Its been a little sead that grows

I'm sort of on the way. Getting ready to board a flight to Atlanta then on to San Diego for a conference then driving up to LA for a Disneyland weekend. Really looking forward to it!

7 hours til my flight! It's 6:30am in Portland, and I am WIDE awake, too anxious to sleep any more! I've got to finish packing (chargers and toothbrush), go to Walmart to buy a tripod since mine didn't arrive on time from Amazon (gggrrrr!), drive 90 minutes to BFF's house, and then the quick jaunt over to the airport. And yet, somehow, I know it's going to take forever until I'm on the plane!

4 more days for us and I think my son is going to lose his mind by the time we leave! This morning he told me that he just can't get Disneyland out of his brain.

For those lucky souls who are already in the park, can anyone confirm if the midway games next to TSMM are open or closed? There is a Goofy Fishing game, a Bullseye horse racing one and one more.

Thanks!

The changing weather is driving me bonkers! Now it is supposed to rain on Saturday afternoon!

I found this picture I took in February 2013 when we visited. See the tarp? I wonder if the castle will eventually be covered in one like this?

Actually, that is really good news. Will keep the locals hopefully at home and crowds lower. I know when I lived in Orlando, we would stay out of the parks if it was raining because we could go whenever.

Rain is good! When we were there it rained one day... we were literally the only ones in CA at some points during the day (I mean that literally, there was NO one else around us!)... walked onto all the rides... people were freaking out over a few drops of rain. Hilarious and awesome! (We come from Oregon so we are used to rain though)

Hi there! Thanks for the warm welcome earlier Aladora! I read it earlier on the road, but couldn't reply right then, now when I am sitting in our room eating cheesecake and having a lazy morning here, I can't find the old post....the forum is so annoyingly different now!! I could not see where to look at all my posts so I could find it that way.... anyway, thankyou!
The weather has been amazing and we are very happy about that, it is raining steady back home!
There are not big crowds here, and even though there are literally 3 entire "lands" closed between the 2 parks, it is not making it crowded in the rest of the park. I can only imagine if those other lands were open it would be like it was back in the late 90's early 20's coming here in off season!
We tried to catch Peter Pan on our first night here because it was going to close the next day, waited in line for a good 25 min, then it broke down! waaaaah! We were planning on Ariels grotto for dinner that first night as it was closing for refurb the next day as well, and I love the tri tip there..... and they only did breakfast and lunch that day! lol.... we were beginning to think we were jinxed!
I think you feel the impact of having critter country closed, in New Orleans Square.... it's a small area anyway, and through adventureland, it has been crowded in there.... but after the morning rush, main street is so nice and open!
We were here right after Cars Land opened and the waits for Radiator Springs Racers were like 2 hours long! and you literally had to run like crazy at rope drop to get in line for a fast pass....so to have wait times of between 25 min (the lowest we have seen it) and an hour... and to get a fast pass for return at 3 pm when going in to get it at about 10:30 am.... that has been a treat!
All in all, I honestly think anyone on a first trip will not notice the closures....there is still so much to do! and the way they close things off, (except for Condor flats) you really don't notice there is something more behind that wall.... I remember when we came and they were re building Paradise Pier and the whole lagoon for the WOC show.... now that was crazy!! it was literally a maze of beige walls in a tunnel formation.....we felt like rats in a maze! lol!! the lagoon is empty again now, but at least the area is open! We renewed our annual passes, so we can make another trip here later in the year to see all the fruits of this labour!
Anyway, to all, try not to fret too much by how long the list looks.... it really is not that bad! and I seriously doubt you will have time to see and ride and experience every single thing on the list that is open!!

Thanks for the report!

If you are in the area, can you please check and see if the Midway games are open or closed? Those are the ones next to TSMM. My son loves getting a new stuffy from the fishing game and if it is closed, I'd like to prep him for the disappointment.

We were there the October after CarsLand opened and I totally remember that! Good to hear it's better now, I have a 3yo that REALLY wants to ride RSR. I remember when we went preCarsLand opening, it was all walled off (but not as bad as I can imagine WOC/Paradise Pier being walled off!) and rat mazey :D

Ha, we just moved out of Oregon less than 2 years ago! My kids complain about the rain, and I'm all, "sorry, you're Oregonians, suck it up :D"

We are heading down tomorrow from Vancouver. Rain here = full rainsuits and rubber boots. Do I need to pack this if they are forecasting rain? Or could I get away with raincoats and an extra pair of runners??
