Any idea how long it'll stay like that? For us first-timers, that looks great. The covered pictures somebody posted way back would be sad for my kids to see who expect the castle.

That's really not THAT bad!

As of right now, they are saying that the walkthrough is closed until March 2. Since the castle is not an attraction, there are no dates that I can find for how long it might be covered.

I have a strong suspicion it'll be covered most of February - especially if they're really covering it in diamonds. :sad2:

My best guess is that the Mar 2 date is when the castle will be uncovered since that is when the walk through reopens.

I was told both by a Disney rep & by also email by different person at Disney it will be refurbed from 1/19-3/3 (uncovered on March 3rd)...both stated same dates. They also both said it would be covered. But it would be AMAZING if for some reason they don't cover it or finish early...crossing my fingers & toes. :flower1:

Here's an article that came out today talking about it http://micechat.com/92286-disneyland-gets-ready-for-60/

Hm....as I'm scratching me chin (No, not dry skin lol) as I contemplate if those diamonds are genuine? If so, I still have some time to find a chisel and a hammer. :)

:wave2::wave2::wave2: Hi Neighbor, I'm in Sacramento too! Aren't the flight rates great! I had booked when they were $62 so I called and got credit. We're going back in June and hoping flights stick around until March so I can book another flight for that rate.

I wish we were flying for our February trip, there are $49 flights, but we'll be there for 8 nights, with LEGOLAND in the middle, and dinner with local family two different nights, not to mention having our 21 month old with us with a giant car seat, so we really need our car. The $49 deal is still good in June, we booked flights for May AND July at that rate!

Wearing your birthday button is lots of fun, cast members and guests will wish you happy birthday all day and at times you get freebies! Like sprinkles on ice cream...my kids love to wear their birthday buttons when we are lucky to be there to celebrate! And they were it all week when we are there to celebrate, doesn't matter if it's their actually "bday".

I will definitely let him know! If there is even the slightest possibility of any sort of freebie........especially sprinkles (LOL), then I will not need to tell him twice. He will sleep in that button! :rotfl:

20 days to go and I am sure that out of the three of us (me, DH and DS) that I am the one who is the most excited! :cheer2:

I need to start looking at putting an order together for Von's and exchanging some Canadian $ for American $ but other than those things and packing there is nothing else I need to do.

I think I need to start leaving more things until the last minute so that I have something to do!

Which airport are you flying into and how are you getting to the park? I think we are going to book Lansky to get us from LAX and that includes return from Hollywood and a stop at the grocery store on our way to DCA. It's about the sane prices as the shuttles and includes that stop. I know I tried a few years ago to order from Vons but I had issues with it and finally gave up. :( Have you done it before? Don't you need to be American or do you use the hotels address?

We always fly in to SNA and while we used to take a shuttle, we have taken a taxi the last 3 trips. If we ever flew in to LAX, I think we would probably do exactly what you are doing. A shuttle for the three of us is around $30 and the taxi is $45. For an extra $15, we don't have to wait for the shuttle and we don't have to wait for anyone else to get dropped off. Walk out of the airport and grab the first taxi and we are at the hotel in less than 20 mins!

I have ordered through Von's twice now and yes, I use the hotel address each time. I think I might have used the postal code trick to sign up originally. (Take your postal code, use the numbers from it and put two zeros at the end to get a zip code)

So on Lansky's - I totally want to do them BUT it's like 180 for a roundtrip from LAX and back... and I can take the Disneyland Resort Express for 90 for all 5 of us. Is there a way to get it cheaper?

Well our round trip from LAX to GCH and then from our Hollywood hotel to LAX is $175. It's $90 to GCH from LAX and I have seen online that a cab from our Hollywood hotel to LAX should be $50. I'm going to look into it further this week and book something by Friday.

What is stressing me out right now is getting from GCH to Hollywood. Looks like it would be $100 cab ride :worried: and I'm not sure if we really want to attempt renting a car but will if absolutely necessary. I have emailed them so I'm hoping I can figure something out soon! Maybe we'll get a discount if we used them a few times during the trip. One can only hope!

I'm in Australia and I emailed Von's to see if I could place an order (staying at Disneyland Hotel), they said my credit card needs to have a U.S. address.

No, there is no way to get it cheaper.

It's all about convenience and service.

I've used the DLE many times, mostly when my son still needed to be in a rear facing car seat, it was easier to use DLE and travel without one. We just hopped on and hopped off the bus (mind you we always stay at the DLH so we have never had to transfer buses)

Now that my son is older and can use a booster, I've used Lanky's the last couple trips. Great customer service, no waiting at the airport for a shuttle, a quick grocery stop.

For my solo trip I've booked them as well. Again it's a convenience thing. I could take the DLE or a taxi but I figure I'm on vacation and I can afford it so why not.

Who are you using for your car service, or are you just using a taxi? I've done split trips with Lansky's in the past. My sister and I were travelling together but our flights came in on separate days (hers first, and then mine) they gave me a killer rate for 2 pick ups and one drop off. If you are using them I would email and ask. They typically respond really quickly.

Got it! We'll be at the GCH so that's not a biggie and this is going to be somewhat of a forced to budget trip as we have an offer in on a house and need to scrape more up for the closing + down. Probably just take DLE again :)

Oooh if they have $49 to Phoenix in Nov we might fly instead if driving! Honestly by the time we get to the airport, wait, fly, etc... We only save an hour or so by flying, but it feels like so much more! The best I ever got was $29 each way. I have a feeling I won't see that fare again!

Which shuttle company did you use from SNA that was only $30? It's only me and my daughter in May, and with Disneyland Resort Express, she rides free, which means $35 round trip for me, but I've read HORRIBLE reviews!
