*****Official February 2015 Thread! Come check in and chat!*****

Sounds like an awesome time! :) When my DS and I went in 2013 he was 4. I didn't bring a stroller and he did great! I loved it because we could go anywhere without the burden of a stroller. I brought a small purse/bag and tied our sweatshirts onto it. Souveniers we purchased were kept in the stores until we left, then we just picked them up. I loved it this way, but I like to walk the parks light and didn't need storage. lol

Oh thanks for the tip about leaving purchases at the store until end of day. I hadn't even thought of that! I think we are going to give it a whirl without a stroller. I agree that not having to deal with one will be worth it.

I think it is just a few stores where they will hold it, Star Traders comes to mind, but it is totally worth it. For your Grand Cal days, you can send it back to the hotel as well.

My son will be 4 when we go. I think he could do it without a stroller. But, My daughter will be almost 3 and needs one for sure. So, we are renting a City Mini Double off site. I know if we have one for my daughter, he will whine about being tired, whereas if there was no stroller at all, he'd probably be fine. Out of sight, out of mind thing. This will probably be our last stroller trip (we go every 12-18 months).

I am so happy to find this site! We are going 2/14-2/21 and staying at our timeshare with my husband, daughter (6), son (3.5), mom (70+) and brother. I went when I was 6, my husband has never been and we're in charge of planning all activities and I feel very lost so expect a lot of questions once I get my bearing. We're telling the kids on Christmas so it's going to be a fun announcement.

Oh, we're another Seattle family... I think we're doing 4 days at the park but that's still up for debate.

Just had a look at this- it shows no times for Fantasmic in early February- does anyone know if this is a regular time that Fantasmic is down, or just for last year- with WOC down, we would really like to see Fantasmic- dates we are looking at are feb 6-12ish

The Columbia was down last year and they generally do not run Fantasmic when it is down. I would guess that as long as the Columbia is not under refurb, Fantasmic will be on, especially with WOC down.

Welcome to the thread! I love seeing more west coast families here. :cool1:

What else are you guys planning on doing for the rest of your time in California? Legoland might not be a bad idea for younger kids.

I'm not completely sure yet - we fly in on Saturday around noon and fly out the next Saturday afternoon. I'll have to look at Legoland. My hubby would love the Universal Studios I'm sure.

May I also ask why you wouldn't do Universal? My DS is as crazy as I am, he doesn't like break days, gets bored. :) He is SUPER excited to see the Studio Tour and the Jurrasic Park ride, as well as the minion fun land thing. My DH, who is a Disney grinch (never been before) is excited about this too. Universal is a must for us this trip, although I know there's not a whole lot to do compared to DL/CA.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and advice. I am really interested in your take on why US is not worth it.

Thanks! :)

I didn't say it's not "worth it." I just said that I, personally, wouldn't go. Universal isn't my 'cup of tea,' so to speak.

Everyone has different likes/dislikes. And different touring styles. Your family can go go go for days on end. Mine cannot. Well, I'm not sure how my son will do since it's his first vacation. But my husband and I are just too old to go non-stop. We figured that out on our week long trip to WDW a few years back. After that trip, we always added a 'slow' day in the middle of the trip and it's made everything so much nicer for us.

Thank you so much for posting this!!! I don't know why, but I didn't get advance notice if this special from Chase. I saw your post and called Disney right away. It was applied to our reservation and I saved $600! So thank you!

Glad I could help!!:cool1:

I'll be there for one day in February! Thursday February 19th!

We are taking my oldest niece on a college road trip that week and while she and my sister visit USC and UCLA, my youngest niece and I get to play all day at DL!!!

And I see you're going to WDW in January. Nice!

Yep! My first trip there ever! I am so excited!

You picked a great time to go. We've gone the week after MLK day a couple times (2008, 2010) and the first week of February in 2012. Crowds aren't too horrible (just look out for a lot of tour groups.)

We slipped to the second page!

Let's see about maybe a new question for people to answer...

What is the one ride that you either hate or refuse to ride?

For me, as shown in the photo I posted on page 9, I hate hate hate Splash Mountain. It terrifies me to no end. I have also never gone on California Screamin' but as soon as DH talks DS into going on it, my excuse of "I can't ride, someone needs to stay with DS" is not going to work anymore and I will have to try it once. :scared1:

We love Splash Mountain but it's been down our last 3 trips ... And scheduled to be down again. My husband is so bummed out.

I refused to do ToT the first 2 trips. On our last trip (WDW), I gave in. I LOVED it. I can't wait to to get to DL and ride it in DCA.

I'm not a fan of ToT. I can use the "staying with DS because he's afraid to ride it" excuse right now. :-)

I have ridden it 3 times, which is 2 too many. Lol!
