*Official* DWTS 2012 Thread

I love Maks...love watching him dance. BUT...seriously??? Those of you out there that think he and Hope got shafted this season??? Hope should have gone home weeks ago. She can't dance...period. I think it was Maks fans that kept them there so long. SHe danced like the bride of Frankenstein. It was painful to watch. And the judges??? I think they were actually quite kind to Maks and Hope. Those lifts were atrocious. It was almost as if Hope came to a complete standstill and set herself up for the lift...no fluidity at all. Carrie was 100% right in her comments. I was surprised the judges were as nice as they were after Hope and Maks's dances. The routines were not danced very well.

And the attitudes?? Give me a break. Maks just can't keep his mouth shut. He is his own worst enemy. Hope isn't very likable. Rob K is...and it truly surprises me to say that. I was appalled that he was going to be a 'star' this season. But, he has really impressed me. He has continued to improve each week. Is he perfect? Nope. But he's a heck of a lot better than Hope. He deserves to be in the finals...Hope didn't deserve to be in the final four!! And I'm sorry, but the constant 'f-bomb' dropping? Please, tell me how that's being a good example or good sport??? The girl can't dance. She is great in goal but there her talent ends.

I hope Maks is back for the next season. I hope he gets a partner worthy of his dance abilities. I know his 'antics' are great for ratings, but not if those same antics make it impossible for them to include him on the show. Those antics take away from everyone else...and it really isn't the 'Dancing with Maks' show, no matter what he says.

I want all of the judges and Brooke to be gone.

Then again, I think maybe I just don't care any more. I've barely watched at all this season. The blatant manipulation with Bristol Palin -- especially when Len, who has spent how many seasons kvetching about stunts and costumes and props, praised that horrible gorilla dance -- just turned me off of the show so much that I barely tune in any more.

I think it is a case of people are thinking, hey, fair is fair. If the Judges are going to judge on dancing ability as they always claim they do...then Rob and Hope should have been gone way before David, and dare I say even Nancy? Neither of them is any good, Rob is the other end of the spectrum from Hope personality wise, yes, but both are immature contestants. Hopes attitude, Rob is like a 5 year old, listening to him talk is like watching paint dry. However, it is about the dancing, and he had/has no more fluidity than Hope if a true comparison is going to be made. I didn't see Rob doing any amazing lifts with Cheryl, ay least Hope tried some stuff more advanced than booty shaking.
They should have just saved some time and eliminated them both but we all know it is about the ratings and I am pretty sure more people turn in to see Maks than hear Carrie Ann's judging.

I was not surprised, the judges stacked the deck against Hope and Maks.

For all those saying they had a crappy attitude...........well why wouldn't they? Carrie Ann was really nasty to them last night, Hope's lifts might have not been 10's but they were way harder than Rob's and they didn't even comment on that. If week after week you are working hard and all you get is negativity from the judges I think you'd have a crappy attitude too. Had they been a little less nit picky with Hope and sprinkled some praise in with the criticisms, well it might have made a big difference.

I think Hope and Rob's dances last night were very close, I don't think Rob should have been in second place and Hope in fourth place. They should have been third & fourth with maybe 2 or 3 points difference. I just think the judges really played favorites last night.

I will go along with saying good-by to Carrie Ann, and throw in Bruno too! :lmao:

The judges weren't always harsh on them. There were times when they did praise her dances or offer constructive criticism. It seems that Maks' crappy attitude rubbed off on Hope. She displayed very, very poor sportsmanship and my guess is that she hurt her supposed giant fan base with it. Serioulsy, she's dropping the f-bomb like some teenager? Very unclassy, both her and Maks. She even said after last weeks show that she deserved better then 7's (the same score she got on week one) and the judges could kiss her booty. Nice. Or how she told Maks she didn't even want to look at the panel of judges. Then she said that nobody could do the dance she just did (Argentine Tango). Um, you got that right.;)

She and Maks were their own downfall this season. Had Maks been more encouraging with Hope, had they BOTH kept their sour attitudes to themselves, they probably would be in the finals. Let's face it, this show isn't JUST about the dancing, it's a popularity contest too.

No surprises here...other than I expected David and Kim to be in the spot currently occupied by Rob and Cheryl, but I'm okay with it. I think it's a real horse race for the trophy between Rikki and Derek vs. JR and KArina. I'd be okay with either winning but I'm going to give a slight edge to Rikki based not just on technique but something about JR's attitude seems to have deteriorated over time and he seems a bit full of himself/toolish from time to time.

I won't be upset no matter who wins though. It's been a fun season.

I thought David and Kym would have made the finals too, dance-wise. I think he came across as too hyper and people were wondering if he was on something. But he would've been fun to watch since he was good at attacking his dances. Rob is so boring and Hope well, I think she showed her true colors last night and Monday night.

I agree, it's a competition now between Ricki and JR. Ricki seems to be negative with herself alot so I hope she can overcome that for the finals. I did read somewhere that JR's ego has been ballooning. Still, they are both great dancers. Should be a very fun finale!:thumbsup2

Rikki, JR and Rob all mentioned THEY were doing GMA this morning. :confused3

That's great - it was fun seeing them on Jimmy last night, but what about Hope and Maks? Why are they being shut out? :sad2:

I read that Hope only did one tv interview last night after the show and then burst into tears, refusing to do anymore.:confused3

I watched them on Jimmy, he did not ask them about Hope and they did not bring it up. They did say they were getting on a plane to do GMA and then flying right back but they were in the DWTS studio this morning. GMA did a review of Hope & Maks but did not explain why they weren't there. At the beginning of the show George said they were doing something different & the 3 finalist would be there.

I really don't think that Hope could refuse to do interviews, I would think it is in their contract about doing shows once they are eliminated. I don't watch GMA, I taped it today, so am not really sure if everyone has done the show but I think most of them have.

Donny Osmond was on GMA and said he thought Rob would win!! I know the fans won it for Donny but I really don't think Rob has that many fans. I would be really shocked if Rob wins.

I totally agree with the bolded sentences.

I would have thought that with Hope's soccer background, she would have learned some sportmanship and to accept defeat graciously.

We are not regular DWTS watchers, but Hope is a local hero of sorts here. She went to my kids' school and there has been lots of promotion of Hope in the newspaper and tv stations.

The local stations all carry her dances from Mondays on the Tuesday morning show. My kids have gotten into the show this year because of this.

We are west coast, so the show hasn't aired yet, but I think Hope sets a very poor example of good sportsmanship.

I think the judges do have some bias against Maks (with good reason), but I'm sure the show benefits from the hoopla. I think the major fault with this show is that the popularity of the dancer sometimes makes or breaks a "star". Yes, there are good teachers/bad teachers, but I think Hope made it this far from people voting for Maks as much as for her.

I just wish her attitude would have been better. She encouraged local kids to watch and root for her, then sets such a bad example.

Yep, and you posted this before watching the results show, when we got an even clearer picture of the poor attitude and lack of professionalism displayed by both Hope and Maks. Yikes!

Personally I think much of the responsibility lies with Maks. He's supposed to be the professional and he should set the tone.

I remember Derek going off on the judges when he felt couples were being critiqued unfairly. But he not only apologized publicly, he apologized to his partner, and I'm paraphrasing here of course; but basically he said they needed to work hard, focus on doing the best dance they could, and have fun with it.

I imagine instead of trying to focus on the positive, Maks and Hope spent lots of time griping about how unfairly they were treated. While that may be true, a bad attitude breeds negative energy and negativity feeds on itself. That's hard to turn around in any situation. Compound it with the many hours DWTS couples spend together training, the pressure cooker of competition, and being publicly judged, and I think the negativity just built and they began to feed off each other. Sad.

I know there's a lot of staging and creative editing that goes on, but I think I have a clear enough picture of Maks to know that if I were going to be on DWTS, it would be with the understanding that he would not be my partner.

Although I think Derek is pretty full of himself too, it's in a much different way than Maks, and I'd be all about requesting him for my partner. And if I couldn't get Derek, I'd be happy to give Tristan a chance. :thumbsup2

Oh, absolutely people tune in to see Maks...myself included. But, seriously, Rob may not have done as 'difficult' lifts as Hope tried to do, but he and Cheryl entered the lift, did the lift and finished them off much, much better than Hope and Maks. Maks should have known better than to push Hope that far. He's not stupid...he knew what she was capable of..and those lifts were way outside her abilities.
Like I said, is Rob perfect? Nope. But, he has made steady improvement each week...Hope did not. She sometimes slid backwards depending on the style dance she got that week. His arm extensions were a ton better than Hope's. And for some reason, Hope could never seen to point her toes...I've never seen so much flat-footed dancing before.
For me...it's been a toss of between Hope, Nancy and David as to who was the worse dancer. David was way too erratic, Nancy was just so, oh, so Nancy....perhaps the fact that I don't like her in real life colored my opinion, but I still can't see how she lasted as long as she did. Very wooden as a dancer.
But, for the first time ever, I'm happy with the final three. I would love to see Maks in there as well, but not with Hope. I found her painful to watch. But, to each their own. Dance is very subjective..so what appeals to one, may turn someone else off. I think Len pretty much makes that point every week...'Oh, I don't care for all that extra fooling around stuff, but the dancing was good.' Yet, others like that 'fooling around stuff'.
I think the judges were actually really pretty fair this season..unlike the Bristol season...that was just plain wrong. There were a lot of times they could have been a lot harsher with Hope, but they chose a different direction.

She could say quite loudly, in front of the producers, how unfair the judges have been, etc. and be so pissy about how/why they think they were booted, and make no bones about saying it all on Jimmy Kimmel & GMA, that the producers decided to send in the 3 finalists instead.

Although, I wonder if, in their contracts there is a clause that they can't bad mouth the show. :scratchin They can however, say enough and what they leave out, the audience fills in about the judges, the editing, their treatment from the show, etc. Often, what people leave out says more. . .

Donny won because he was the best dancer.
(Nevermind that I'd be saying exactly what you said, if someone else won that season. :rolleyes1 ;) )

i really think the judges were fair,Hope was not that good and you cant give high scores when you dont deserve them. as someone else pointed out her toes were never pointed and her lines looked awkward and lets face it ,she is not feminine. i think the attitude really hurt her too, just look at the video of her when she got all in the face of her soccer coach. poor sportmanship wont get you far on DWTS. I'm happy with the final 3. Rob has improved so much and Ricki and JR are neck-in-neck in my opinion,it could go any way...my vote is going to .......JR.:dance3:

I pretty much agree with your post except that the judges should have been just as harsh on Rob as they were on Hope , Nancy , David and Chaz. Rob seems to have been given the *go* card no matter how much he clomped around and was off in his timing etc. I still stand by no way did he earn that 10. Now, as far as Hope's 'tude, no, not gonna miss that at all...besides, Carrie Ann has enough nasty to make up for Hope and Maks.

I'm glad that Rob made it to the finals I think he improved immensely. Hope was never graceful and I don't think she should have made it this far. I think it will be a toss up between Rikki and JR for the win. I'm giving a slight edge to Rikki because I don't think JR's ankle will improve enough in one weeks time.

I agree with you, 100%. You were kind in your description of Hope.

I voted for Donny, loved his dancing, :lovestruc I meant he wasn't the judges favorite but his fans pulled him through.

I am not sure what their contracts say either, but they decided before the show was over that it was going to be the finalist on Jimmy, Tom annouced it, it was also on my onscreen guide. Now the TV Guide, which is printed a few weeks in advance, said it would be the couple voted off. Did a google search and did not find anything about Hope giving an interview.

OK people...let's see who brings what to the table, ummm, dance floor tonight! :dancer:
read somewhere that the story of Rikki's weight loss could be incorporated into one fo her dances, but not sure if there is anything to that. I will :rotfl2: if Rob does anything USC related,,,and J.R., I am guessing is just going to go crazy.

FINALS TONIGHT!!!

Everyone, have your phone/cellphone ready. No excuses tonite for no voting for the couple you think should win.

Likewise, DWTS had better have their phone system & online voting working properly. :surfweb:

I think I heard Tom say that tonight is only an hour long. :confused3 Did anyone else hear that? Remember you only have an hour after the show to vote in your time period. If you are DVRing, you'd better figure out when the show is ending.
