Official Dopey 2018 Thread

What discount?

Being the anniversary year for multiple events as well as a redemption for the half, I figured there would be a little bit more fervor.

Basically a discount in name only. (For those who were cancelled this year)

rD sent an email to 2017 marathon participants (though not everyone got it) with a link to early 2018 registration and it took $10 off. $10 is probably pretty laughable when looking at Dopey, but it totally sold me lol!

It's exciting to see more people join the madness.

I am excited to register my husband for cheer squad for the Dopey weekend. He may do the 5k and 10k with me - he's a slower runner and said he wants me to pace him so I don't burn out too fast on the weekend.

I'm all registered for Dopey. I'm excited and nervous. Running a half at the end of March, Wine & Dine 10K in November, and planning on the Richmond Marathon in November as well. Then a little over a month to try to get used to waking up so early 4 days in a row!

I ran the Richmond marathon in 2013 before I ran Dopey in 2014. It's a great race with lots of on course support and a very supportive crowd. I highly recommend it as a warm up for Dopey.

So, 11 hours after early registration opened ... Dopey has "Sold Out".

NOW. This only equals about 500-700 total entries.

The slow sell out definitely made me second guess my jumping on at noon and plopping my credit card down but I am still glad that stress is behind me. I remember for the 2015 weekend trying to get in on early registration and I was not able to because I was too slow. I ended up having to wait until open registration to get 5 separate registrations in. Way too much stress on that day.

Just curious did the half sell out during early registration? And, if yes, how quickly? I'm trying to get 2 ppl registered for this on Tuesday.

I have time blocked off in my calendar for Tuesday and have told my partner on my project at work that I will be stressed and registering that morning and to not try to plan any real work! I have really been toying with the idea of the Castaway Cay. DBF is INSANELY supportive of me doing Dopey, and was really supporting when my GSC trip to WDW turned into, well now I have to do C2C with DDD. He really wants a beach vacation, so I figure - if this could possibly be the one time I ever do Dopey (I'm sure I'll be hooked and want to do it every year, but I know its not feasible), then maybe go big with Castaway Cay and just get it all done. DBF is going to likely do the 5K or 10K during Marathon weekend so we could do Castaway Cay together. Really blowing up my credit card considering this, but I am have so much more value on experiences and memories than things, that I'm okay budgeting to make it happen. Could be my first marathon and Disney cruise all in a short time span!

Now just to anxiously wait for Tuesday.....

I really, really want to run Dopey next year but want to make sure I can handle all three races and wake up times of Princess weekend first. Is it a horrible idea to wait and purchase through a travel agent?

I said it before, these races won't sell out quickly.

AP/DVC folks are proving it out ..... if they'd sell out at regular price, Disney wouldn't have offered any discounts.

Supply/Demand ... Disney's best friend and worst enemy.

I don't think it's like a few years ago where it was you better be in the first 30 minutes or you'll miss out kind of thing, but I think some will go relatively fast and all will sell out Just not in the blink of an eye.

Hopefully that option will stay available. Good thing, it's always an option to decide later. Good luck. OR>.... just go for it and then you're committed!

I'm basically in the same situation. I'm super intimidated by the idea of a full but think I can probably manage it. Tentatively planning on Dopey 2019 if the Disneyland challenge and Wine & Dine 5k + challenge go well. By that time I don't expect I'll be able to get a Dopey bib.

The idea of the anniversary full and Dopey are SO tempting but I feel like I need to prove to myself I can manage the challenges and training before I go all in for Dopey. I've only ever done one half and my training for that wasn't great.
