Official Dopey 2017 Thread

The 2016 Dopey AP early registration sold out in about 20-30 min last year.

The 2016 Dopey normal registration sold out in between 3.5 hours and 11 hours. The timing wasn't perfect because the rundisney website said 99% at 11pm, but the link wouldn't let you register thus an unknown fill time. I would guess it was closer to 11 hours. The 2015 Dopey normal registration sold out in 2 hours.

I'm hopping in here! I'm also planning on running the Dopey as my first runDisney race (as long as I can register)! It will also be my first full marathon! It graduating from Nursing school in December and it is my gift to myself. I plan on going back through the thread and adding more info later but I wanted to get in here while I saw it!!! My friend and I are thinking about this but have never done a Disney run, how fast does registration for the Dopey Challenge fill up?

Yes, it does fill up quickly and I'll learn tomorrow about the stress of registering myself online for W&D.

However, for both Star Wars races, we went through one of the travel partners. You'll pay a little extra, and if you do it early you will be required to book your room at one of the WDW resorts through them, but they will take care of the process and you'll be done before general registration even opens. (I used Acclaim.) ALSO, they may get more bibs periodically all year long (after it sells out online). They were selling a handful of Dopeys in December, but the demand may change this year and that may not be as readily available. For a first Disney run, and if you're staying in the park, I would recommend going the travel agent route.

Welcome, and you certainly won't be the only one running their first marathon on January 8th as a part of Dopey. I will be running my first then as well. I'm excited and nervous, though some of the added pressure is self inflicted by challenging my brother to a race.

I couple weeks ago I saw $580 posted by a travel agent for Dopey. I don't remember what the price was for the other races though.

following! considering signing up for the Dopey this year. I run a dozen half marathons each year (a few back to back), but I will be completing my first marathon next Sunday.

Just wondering if anyone knows the dates for 2018? Or will they not be posted until when next year's race is done. Is it always the first WEEKEND after New Years?? It just makes a difference, in that 2017 I have the current dates off work, but would rather wait until 2018, but with NYs falling in the middle of the week, I'm wondering if 2018 the Marathon weekend will actually be the 2nd weekend of Jan rather than the first (which I won't have off). This post is probably super confusing, but if you can make heads or tails of it-let me know!!

I haven't seen dates yet for 2018, but they will be known before this year's race happens, but I'd guess not before registration opens.

I doubt it, that would put the marathon weekend the same weekend as MLK day (15th) I'm sure they dont want to have the marathon going on the same weekend they would have higher than normal crowds with a holiday weekend.. Just my guess, which is horribly unreliable, that the marathon weekend will be Jan 4-7. But who knows.. It is a unique layout for 2018 with NY day being on a Monday..

That's my guess as well. Then DLR Star Wars the next weekend.
