Official DL July 2015 thread

Does anyone know a lot about child swap at the rides? Our youngest is five but tall enough for all the rides. He won't go on them though because of being scared and some of them are just too much as it is. Can we do child swap even if they are tall enough but they don't want to ride? Has anyone tried this? Thanks. I only really care about Indiana Jones and Space Mountain. He will go on Cars and Thunder Mountain with me and DH.

I think this is usually fine, but I can't say for sure. Maybe someone else knows from experience??

Probably too far north for any of you this trip, but if you want to see Redwoods, Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve in Guerneville, CA is wonderful. (Northern California)If you have small children it great because the main walk has wide flat paths. There are marked trees to see along the way and you can bring a picnic. There is a free parking lot just outside the park if you get there early enough to get a spot. We often go there just to eat lunch and walk around for a little bit. It is peaceful and less crowded than some of those more well known parks like Muir Woods. Not Disney related but thought I'd toss that out for general information since some of you mentioned redwoods.

Thanks so much for the information! I will keep it in mind for the future!

Today is 30 days out for me!!! (Well, 30 days until we drive to the airport and stay the night because we have an EARLY flight. I'm counting that day as start of vacation!) Anyone know what's up with Ridemax? They've released June and August dates but no July yet. I guess the 60th anniversary crowds are making it more difficult for them? I have never used the service before but I had read they released plans about 40 days out, so I was surprised and disappointed to see my dates still aren't up.

I think you are looking at August dates for WDW not DLR. They've only published DLR dates through late June. I guess we just have to be a little more patient, but I'm with you, I'm really anxious to start my plans!

I''m trying to stay patient until mid-June or so to buy my Ridemax. They have a 30 day guarantee and i'd like those 30 days to fall within my trip dates just to make sure I really am satisfied. I'm pretty sure I'll be based on the reviews I have read though. I can't wait to get ridemax and start messing with touring plans!

You're right, I did look at it wrong! Thanks

Hello All! Less than 30 days out!

We JUST finalized our travel plans, so I'm a little late to the game here. We'll be at DLR July 3-7 (parks days 4-6) staying at PVI, then heading down to San Diego for Comic-Con.

I plan on us doing DCA on the 4th, as I'm assuming DL will be PACKED! TP has DCA as a 4 that day, I think that must be wrong though. Do you all think it's possible to view the 9:00 pm WoC show & then head over to DL to catch the 11:00pm Paint the Night Parade? Or is this just not feasible, especially on the 4th? My thinking was to knockout both out on one night, but now i'm doubting. We've done a parade in DL & then WoC before, but that was in March & not on a holiday.

Anyway, I'm excited to see all the 60th celebration features. We visted DLR during the 50th at Christmas time & it was truly magical.

Hey all. Joining this thread. Have a business trip in Kansas in July and figured that since I'm almost half way to LA, I might as well tack on a few days to finally get to DLR! Will be there 7/24-7/26. Arriving to LAX around 9 am on Friday. 3 nights at Best Western Park Place and fly home (BWI) at 6:30 am on Monday 7/27. Frequent visitor to WDW. Last trip to DLR was in 1970 when I was 10 years old. It's time to go back. Looking forward to immersing myself in everything Disneyland for the next 50 days of so!

Too much fun! I'm waiting (impatiently) for the business trip where I can tack on some Disney into my life!

The last time I was in DLR was also when I was 10 so I'm super excited! My DD really wants to see DLR to experience something different. I'm still missing WDW though, so I am trying to squeeze in a day at WDW before our weekend trip to Universal Orlando in September. Just waiting now to see if DH can get the day off work.

The new stuff for the 60th sounds AMAZING!

I just booked us into the Candy Cane Inn for July 29 - Aug 2. We will be in the area for almost two weeks for my MIL's 90th and a massive family reunion. Plans keep changing, so we will just go with the flow. I figure any free day, we'll head to DLR.

Honestly I wouldn't trust TP or any site that guesses what the crowd level will be because it's not accurate 99.9% of the time. It works well with WDW in my opinion, but DL is a whole different park when it comes to crowds. I also think that DCA and DL will be more crowded compared to previous years due to the 60th Anniversary.

I think it would be possible to go over to DL for the 11:00 pm show, I can see a few people leaving after the fireworks show. Even if its crowded I can't see it being at capacity, I would plan to go straight to DL right after WOC though, because I am sure some people may have the same idea as you.

We are a couple of the crazy ones - we had some airline miles to burn so we're popping down over July 4th weekend since we have an extra day off from work. We're planning on going into DL on the 4th of July. I know it will be nuts, and I know the park will likely close, but does anyone know around when it does? Rides aren't our priority, I just don't want to get shut out of the park. We are staying offsite. I'm torn between doing rope drop if we should be in there within the first couple hours anyway and sleeping in to try to mitigate the long lines and crowds getting on our nerves. :) TIA!

Just cheated a little and watched some footage of Paint the Night and World of Color-woooooow!!!! I was thinking we'd skip woc since the thought of standing the whole time makes me nervous, but now I'm not so sure. Definitely had tears from the 2 minutes of clips I saw. (Not that it takes much...)

For WOC, lots of people sit until the show starts. We do. Also, we like the Carthay Circle section for the second show. It is less crowded and people aren't pushing in on you. Another time we were able to get in the section sort of near the VIP section, but it was a little to the left and behind. At the time it was the blue section. We stayed in back, at a railing, so no one in directly in front of us. Everyone else in that section went racing towards the front. We had a great view. And it made for an easy exit after the show.

Good to know. I imagined us going and standing for an hour+ beginning to end. I can handle sitting until the show. I don't think we'll make it to the second show with the little kids going, but I'm definitely going to be researching the best spots and strategies!

We'll be there July 5-11 and doing Disney 2-3 days. We'll be staying off property for two nights than the GCV for 2, heading to San Diego for the One Direction concert, to Carlsbad after, then back up to OC for two days.

How fun! We too are taking in a 1D concert (again) but this will be in Seattle on our way down to DL for the 60th on July 17th. DD (13) is a big fan of 1D and from your trip report, I see that your girls are too :-). And right after we get home from our DL trip, we are headed up North to catch 5 Seconds of Summer. DD says that this will be her best vacation yet since 1D, Disneyland and 5SOS are 3 of her favorite things! LOL

So add us to the CRAZY list! Out of nowhere I decided to look into a week trip. How crazy is the last week of July? If we go, it would be 7/19-26. How many days do you guys suggest spending at DL? What about US? We are WDW veterans but know NOTHING about DL :scared:
