DP and I had a discussion about this on the way to work this morning. We came to agree that the best way to bolster the number of entries in the Mickey Marathon would be to improve the course--namely shorten the out & back's. By releasing it this early, they are teasing it and shamelessly self promoting themselves. Let us not forget, runDisney is part of Disney and they always have their bottom line in mind.
I agree 110%! Races are just another way for Disney to make money during "slow" periods of the year!

I completely forgot the underpass at the start. I guess in the excitement of the start of the race I just forget it each year. The worst part for me is that dusty, dirty trail before the stadium. I would gladly take more miles through the area of the marble and kitchen top counter businesses. But the stadium more than makes up for it.
That and being able to quote movie lines and songs that were in movies. I totally agree w/ you on the river part. But when I was down there last month, we went by the river when I was going to the airport and they were doing something to the base of the river. It'll be interesting to see what happens in Sept. And the stadium!! I love that part ~ when you come out at the right field pole and everyone is there cheering... it's almost better than the finish line.
But if it means that I can get the bag, then it's worth it. I'm curious to see if there are any left when I go in a few weeks.
No AP next year for me, so I'll just soak it up this year and resort back to race tix for the races. I am glad that I upgraded mine to the Premier b/c those went up too. At that point it was straight across the board ~ the price of the 5 day pass for WDW and the upgrade so it would be beneficial once you add in the discounts, but now it wouldn't be. But I still have a lot of trips this year planned so I can get it all in.
