Official Disneyland ½ Marathon & 5k

I booked the Red Lion because Best Western Park Place Inn was sold out. It's a bit farther but I got an okay rate. I just can't justify the price of the DLH or PP for that matter.

Wow, can't believe it sold out so fast. I just booked on monday!

They don't have vinylmation for the races out here. :sad1: I discovered them last year at WDW and was looking forward to them here, but they've never had any. Hopefully they will this year, I would love that.

Going through w/drawls already. Until I found out that it was going to be prime Spring Break time, I was ready to drive down for the afternoon after the LA Marathon, but by the time I get down there and showered after the race, I probably wouldn't get to the parks until 4 and to have it crowded would not be fun. Oh well, I'll just have to wait! :hyper:

They did have the vinylmation for the Diseyland Half Marathon last year. I bought it. :) I promised myself I wouldn't display it until I actually participated in a half marathon for Disney, then it became more of a focal point for motivation.

I wish I would have been able to find one.

The SouthWest flights from San Jose, CA to John Wayne (SNA) are already well over $100. Ugh! I can't justify paying almost $300 RT for each of us when it it only takes 4 1/2 - 5 hours to drive down.

Guess I'm driving!

To all of those wondering about DL Hotels:

DL is not like WDW - you don't HAVE to stay on property. If money is not an issue, go for it. But in 9 years of being an AP holder I've never stayed on property - even with our hotel discount. The price is ridiculous compared to the places across the street which are CLOSER to the main gate than the Disneyland Hotel!

Thanks to everyone for the feedback on hotels. Being a WDW vet, it is hard to not be in the mindset that I need to stay at a Disney resort. I booked the Fairfield Marriott today. I figure the $400 savings, even with the get travel discount, will more than make up for the walk to and from the start/finish line on race day.

I've stayed there! You come right out onto the sidewalk, go left 1/2 block to the crosswalk and make your way into DL. So close!

This will be my first Disneyland 1/2 Marathon so I am not sure what transportation is available or the best/quickest way to get the start from there - but I'll share whatever I learn as I will either stay at The Fairfield or the Hilton /Marriott properties near the convention center (using Hilton or Marriott points).

If you're looking for basic, cheap, fairly clean, and fairly close, last year I stayed at the Travelodge on the corner of Ball Rd. and Disneyland Dr. It's about 1/2 a mile from the staging area. Last year I paid about $60 a night for the two nights of race weekend. The hotel is not as convenient to the entrance to Disneyland. I rode ART to get the main entrance. Fortunately after the first two night I had a DVC reservation for the Grand Californian for the rest of the vacation. If I was going just going to DL I wouldn't have picked this hotel, but for the race it was pretty good.

Did you check the main BW website instead of BWPPI website? Maybe it'll work that way?

:headache: I missed it!!! Where were they at the market or in the main expo? Can you post a pic? I will definitely have to look this year. I'm not a big vinyl fan, but there are some that I just want and that is definitely 1 of them! :rotfl2:

This is what I think it looks like. Hopefully they will have some this year...where we can find them!!!

Thanks Todd! I like that one too.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that watches the numbers!

Yah, I'm updating the 1st post, and figured I'd post it here too just in case. That, and I watching the 5k. I know it won't slow down, but I'm hoping it will for another paycheck or 2. Thank god it's not $100 like the Tink 5k!

There is one on EBay but they want $80!

I think I should go ahead and register for the 5K today, before I forget and it's too late.

Count me in!! This will be my first Disney 1/2 Marathon...i've done a couple of 5Ks at DW before. My Husband and I will be travelling....he isn't running, has no interest in running so far, LOL!! :goodvibes

I booked the Hojo tonight with the AP rate. It was almost 50% cheaper than the DLH, and I got a premium room with a view of the park...I just couldn't justify paying so much for the DLH :sad2:

Can't wait for it to get here....it will be DH's first trip to Disneyland!!

I am a big fan of the HOJO's Entertainment/Retro Rate. :thumbsup2

Their rates were awesome - 135 a night for a room with a view of the park!! And I emailed with a request for a room wih a skylight last night - they emailed me back already today!! I'm impressed so far!!

I forgot to mention, I'm trying for the C2C also, with the wine and dine. I really wanted to try the new TOT run, but its the weekend of my neices birthday party here in Chicago....shes upset enough about my move to FL, i figure skippIng her birthday party the first year would not help things :guilty:

Will also be running this one, even though I'll already have picked up my C2C medal. This one is going to be more for fun than anything. A friend I made at the Family Fiesta 5k who I ended up seeing again the Neverland 5k asked me to help pace her in this race, it will be her first half. And since I wanted to come anyway to celebrate my 23rd birthday (which is race day) I agreed.

Trying to decide if I'm doing my c2c or not (I live in Oregon I should!) but was wondering for budgeting purposes if there is a discount code like for the princes for park passes? Is anyone able to copy and paste the tix prices please?

Thank you!

Thought of one more question...

I have Hyatt points and was curious about the Hyatt Regency Orange County. Does anyone know if this is "walkable" the morning of the race or if they have a shuttle race morning?

thank you!
