Eek gad, all these bad experiences with CR cakes! Now I'm hesitant to order the cake! I got through to Chef Donald, he can do the snow flake design like in the above photo but in the blue and purple shades like the Frozen movie posters. He did mention they only have white lights right now, but said he'd look for a blue one for a snowflake topper design.

I guess I just have to decide whether the special feel of the cake presentation at the restaurant will be worth it even if the cake itself is disappointing. She doesn't have much of a sweet tooth anyway, but she basks in the light of special treatment. :)

If I end up ordering it I will definitely post the photos here! FOLLOW-UP: I went ahead and ordered, seems to be a flip of the coin whether people had bad cakes or delicious cakes, so I'll report back mid December when we get back - or heck with my iPad and jetpack, while we're there! :)

I just tried to call my order through but got the answer phone. I haven't left a message because I'm calling from the UK, plus my husband will be home shortly and I don't think I can disguise a cake order as a random call!

Does anyone know if they will be open on Saturday?

Is this still the current email address for the contemporary? I emailed them 2 days ago and have gotten no response so far. Suggestions? Thanks!!

Thanks for being our guinea pig. :squirrel: <---- (pretend that doesn't have a tail... or an acorn...). I hope it turns out great!

no one answers that number- its a recording to send requests through the email

You need to call Private Dining, not the Contemporary Cake Line. There's no direct line, unfortunately, but if you call the resort at 407-824-1000, they can transfer you.

Which resort are we talking about? The bakers may only be there til early afternoon, but Private Dining is open 'round the clock, so follow the method above to talk to someone that way.

Should be, but it can take up to a week to hear back. If you're in a rush, contact Private Dining via the number above and explain the situation.

Has anyone had the credit card charged before receiving their cake?? I placed an order at the end of October for a cake in January and I noticed that yesterday there's a charge on my account. I am trying to get in touch with Pat to verify but was curious if anyone else had this happen? Thanks Jodi

Contemporary resort bakery through their private dining line wouldn't even take my credit card. I don't know how the other bakery sections work but they charge you at the restaurant after you receive your cake.

That's what I thought. I went through the GF and they did take my C.C number and did say that they would be taking the payment. If that makes sense

Ok so I just got off the phone with Pat at the GF and I was already charged for the cake! At least it was for that and not something else! Now to make sure I don't get charged at the restaurant!!

Oh sorry I forgot to give details-

I ordered a grooms cake to be delivered to 'Ohanas the night before our wedding cruise! We are getting married on the Disney Dream sailing Jan 19. I ordered a cake shaped like a pirates chest filled with coins. It's going to be vanilla cake with peanut butter cup filling!!
I'll post pictures when I get back :)

Maybe they can email you a confirmation invoice so you have something concrete to show the staff at Ohanas. Congratulations!! That cake idea sounds wonderful and what a fabulous way to tie the knot! Can't wait to see cake pictures, good luck and smooth sailing!

Re: reports on contemporary cake quality

We had 2 cakes from the contemporary in early October (post chef Brian), a mini cake and an 8" cake. The mini cake was chocolate with the Bailley's mousse filling and buttercream icing. The 8" was a chocolate cake with the peanut butter cup mousse filling and buttercream, covered in fondant. Both cakes were beautiful and absolutely delicious. I posted pics and s more in depth review in thus thread at the time.

That's a good idea! I was planning on emailing before we left to go to WDW or a week out to reconfirm everything I might as for that invoice too

Cake ordered :)

I called the cake hotline again and got straight through this time. I've asked for maroon coloured mini wedding cake with ToT logo and happy 3rd anniversary writing. Yellow cake with Peanut Butter Mousse. I said Chef Donald quoted $50. It will be delivered to the room on 3 December. The Lady said I could give card details over the phone or charge it to the room. Will report back with the obligatory pictures :)

Can someone tell me how much will be added on? Is it plus tax and tip to be delivered to the room?

Now that you mention you ordered a groom's cake, it makes sense that you were charged in advance. Congrats on your upcoming nuptials. The Dream sounds like a perfect place for a wedding.

Here is the inspiration for my anniversary cake:

Here is my email to CR:

I am thinking a single layer, 6" vanilla cake with sugar flowers similar to my wedding bouquet. I am attaching a picture - I like the lavender roses, pink lily, small purple wax flower, and white orchids the best. I would like the icing to be very light pink and if the flowers and icing could be shiny / shimmery and cover the top and cascade around the sides of the cake, that would be perfect. Please let me know what the cost would be for something like this. Thanks so much for your help!

Email from CR:

Yes, we can create the 6 inch single layer vanilla cake, covered in Light Pink Rolled Fondant and decorated with Lilies, Roses, Orchids and small flowers with colors similar (and including the shimmer you mentioned) to the photo that we received, covering the top and cascading over the sides of the cake. The price for this cake would be $68.

Here the cake I received:

I was disappointed that it had the ugly bow, was cracked, and did not have the pink fondant that I requested. It tasted good though.

Mini wedding cake from CR with painted Belle figure - $80

Belle_zps2ff59409.jpg

Cake was very cute and just what I asked for. Belle was ok - would have been nice if they had painted her bouquet red though. Too much yellow to have dress & flowers yellow too.

Asked for mini wedding cake with fondant & Halloween theme. Probably my favorite of the 3 cakes! $50 from CR.

Amazing cakes! Actually I don't know if you just take good pictures but the floral cake is actually my favorite! The flowers on the top are just stunning. I'm a big Halloween fan, so I always love a good Halloween cake design. The spider is adorable. You've renewed my hope in the cake I've ordered from CR for our BoG dinner when we get there!!

Yes, the flowers were beautiful! Just really hated the white frosting & bow, but really those were minor details. Your cake will probably be great! Mine all tasted very good, I have no complaints with the flavor or freshness :)
