Thanks!I think he would absolutely love it. When I say he's a PSU fan it's the understatement of the century. He lives, sleeps, and breathes PSU. We're having dinner our first night at Artist Point and another night at Yachtsman Steakhouse, so those are the two I'm looking at possibly ordering a cake from. It's only the two of us so I'm unsure as to what size to get and how to go about this. I would love any suggestions you and everyone else can give me!
All of Disney's cakes taste the same no matter where you get them, so that's no issue, and both the Contemporary (which makes fancy cakes for Artist Point) and Yacht & Beach Club turn out great-looking cakes. It does seem that the Contemporary's prices are lower though, so that might be something to consider.
As for size, I'd go with a 6-inch if you want leftovers or a mini-cake if you don't!
Thanks lurkyloo!!Is there a person in particular that I should contact? Is calling or emailing better? I'm probably gonna go with Artist Point since that's our first night there and we can have the rest of the week to pick at it.
Thanks!!!![]()
I see you decided to go with AP. As lurkyloo said, the bakeries don't seem to be that different. I do feel Yacht & Beach club bakery is more consistent. I can't ever remember seeing a cake from there that wasn't great. I've seen a few from Contemporary that I would have been really disappointed in. (It makes me wonder if Chef Brian is the only really talented cake decorator there. Some of the cakes don't look like a cake he'd make. Plain grocery store cakes are as nice.) Y&BC is usually more expensive though. If going with AP, I'd be very specific about what I wanted. Hopefully, you'll hit it on a day when Chef Brian is working. Most cakes from Contemporary bakery are very nice, so the odds are in your favor.
Im so hoping my two cakes I ordered turn out half way decent. I ended up changing my one cake design in fear they couldn't do it and went with a more Disney theme. I hope it looks ok, especially after the amount I'm paying for it!
Also, my daughter who is an extremely talented cake designer will be critiquing!
I'm sure they will, if you gave them specifics. The cakes where people tell them to use their creativity, w/o making requests, are the ones that sometimes turn out less than fabulous. Chef Brian is very talented. If he makes your cakes, I'm sure they'll be great.

Unfortunately, I ordered my cakes from two different places and neither is from the Contemporary.
What you do is call the number and speak to someone in Private Dining to order the cake. You can ask for the chef's email and then send him the specific description, photos, etc. Once he gets back to you with a quote, you place the order by calling that Private Dining number again.
Sending in photos (or even sketches) always helps!![]()
Lemme guess... Grand Floridian?
Yup! But I have faith it will be fabulous
I will post a pic when we return. My other cake was ordered from Y&B for the Illuminations Cruise for my in-laws 50th Annivesary.
And if the above mentioned cake isn't up to standards, I'll sick my daughter on them![]()
Ooh! That's gonna be cute!![]()
