This shot might help you get an idea of the size of a mini cake—note the fork:

And this one shows a mini cake next to an 8-inch cake (on the left):

Splitting a 2-tier minicake between two people is like each person getting one regular-sized slice of cake with a lot more frosting on it than usual. A 1-tier mini cake is like 2 regular slices of cake.

If it helps, I am a HUGE sweets fan who does not believe there is such a thing as "too rich" or "two sweet," but even I can only eat half a mini cake in one sitting. :thumbsup2

Thanks, this helps! I didn't want it to be too small but the 6" seems big. We had to throw out most of the top layer of our wedding cake because we couldn't travel with it. I was so sad. I don't want to go through that again. :rotfl: Our wedding cake was the Mickey wave. The stamps should still be an ok size for the mini cake right?

Hmmm... I don't know how much of a wave pattern you'll get on a mini cake cuz the scale of the stamps will be much bigger, but I'm sure the pastry chef will do something great. :thumbsup2

Was wondering if I can order a cake to be delivered to the Illuminations Cruise?

Hello!

Mu husband has been dying to attend the Star Wars weekends for years and we're finally doing it this year! I would love to order the Jedi Mickey cake just to make it extra special. We are staying at the Dolphin and i read that this cake could be ordered at the Yatch Club Bakery. Do you think they would deliver it to our room at the Dolphin although its not an official Disney resort?

Thanks alot! :goodvibes

I'm so excited because I went ahead and placed my order for a cake with Brian at the Contemporary for our arrival night dinner. DD16 LOVES Princess and the Frog and anything Mardi Gras/New Orleans so that will be the theme. I also ordered both of us a Cinderella Slipper for our arrival morning breakfast at Cindy's Castle.. she turned 16 and I turned 40... I almost didn't order myself one but decided, hey if I don't order one for myself, no one else is going to do it for me! LOL

Yes! Call Private Dining at the Yacht & Beach Club: 407-934-3105

There's no way a non-Dolphin staffer would be let into your room to deliver a cake. Why not make a dining reservation at one of the Yacht & Beach Club restaurants and have it delivered there?

See, that's my philosophy too! :rotfl:

Thank you Lurkykoo! I believe if I want a speciality Cake delivered to the Polynesian I call the Grand Floridian? If that's correct, does anyone know the best time to talk to chef Brian would be? I would love for him to do my grandsons Super Hero cake for his 4th Birthday,
:lovestruc

Grand Floridian Private Dining is who you call for a specialty cake at the Polynesian, but Chef Brian works at the Contemporary.

Ok thank you again! I will be calling later for two cakes. I hope they can meet my requests and doesn't cost me alot:thumbsup2

Quick question -- would it be too late to order a cake for a trip at the end of this month?

Hi, I am taking my 2 girls to Disneyland for their birthdays later this year, there will be 12 of us including the girls who are turning 1 and 3. We plan to make reservations at both Ariels grotto and Minnies breakfast (on seperate days). I can see alot of info about cakes at WDW but not sure if it the same for DL. We are travelling from New Zealand so it is quite expensive to call and find out all the options. What are the options and costs at DL? Also does anyone know if the bakery sells cupcakes as I would like to buy one as a smash cake for the 1st birthday girl (whose birthday it will be on the day)
Thanks

:rotfl2: No, we're celebrating my brother's.....it's actually 5/17. He expects presents too.......it's the cake!!!! :lmao:

:rotfl: I think a cake and Disneyworld would be good enough presents for me! lol! I'm always open to MORE presents, though!

How fun!! I'm also taking my 14 year old sister this summer (in june) and it will just be the two of us!! Maybe you could find a fun quote from her favorite movie?

Thanks for the idea! Hope you guys have a great time!::MinnieMo:dumbo::tinker:pixiedust:

The info on Disneyland cake options can be found here: http://disneytravelbabble.com/how-to/order-cake/#disneylandcake

Disneyland sells cupcakes all over the resort. Marceline's on Downtown Disney has a good selection. You can usually also find them in Disneyland at the bakery on Main Street and at Pooh Corner in Critter Country. I would imagine that the bakery on Buena Vista Street in DCA will sell the same cupcakes once it opens later this summer.

Not at all, I ordered mine 6 days before I needed it! lol When I called and made the order I spoke to someone named Sarah and I apologized for the short notice and she said no problem they usually only need about 48 hours notice (this was only for an 8" custom cake, something more involved may need more time).

How long does it usually take Brian to respond to an email?

I sent the email to Brian on April 14 @ 1pm and he responded back on the 15th at 7am. His email signature says his hours are Thurs-Monday 7am-3pm.
