That is the case everywhere on property: http://disneytravelbabble.com/how-to/order-cake/by-location/

BoardWalk Bakery services most of the resorts that don't have their own bakeries, but you can't call them directly to get a cake delivered to your resort. You have to work through your resort.

I found this out the hard way - however, when calling the main cake hotline, they re-direct you to the bakery that services the resort/restaurant you want it delivered to. I'm going to keep this link handy (thanks again!)...but I sure wish that the CMs would either give out this information and/or that the main cake hotline would re-direct to the resort itself, not the servicing bakery. Goodness, we are now eligible to be paid for our services as WDW cake experts. :rotfl:

Alright, I've been reading pages and pages of this thread and seeing so many pictures of gorgeous cakes I think I could just DIE :rotfl:, I never saw a cake I had in mind, so I was wondering.

First off, some backstory.

Now, I don't have an ADR set up yet, I don't have a hotel ressie set up yet. Heck, I don't even know the exact DATE we're going to WDW for sure, but my ultimate goal is to be there for Christmas time 2012. I wanted to get ideas started now so that by the time it's time to actually order the cake, I won't have second thoughts (we'll be moving this spring/summer, so I won't have time then to think about this stuff ).

Anyways, I have no clue if this is even possible, and by looking at the cakes typically made it doesn't seem like it, but here it goes. I wanted to have a cake for my mom while we were down there, more so early in our trip (to give us ample time to eat it during the whole visit :cutie:). Her birthday's in October so that won't work, and it wouldn't be Christmas quite yet, so I'm thinking of just a cake that celebrated her just being an amazing mother to me (and my 4 siblings as well :)).

Here's the tricky part. The cake I wanted would be in the shape of a mouse ears hat. I mean, the ears could be fondant, it doesn't have to be solid cake, but yeah. I wanted it a light pink, and I wanted the whole cake (ears included) sparkling with pink sparkles, so much it should look like tinkerbell sneezed and pixie dust flew everywhere and hit the cake dead on. (I'll let that image sink in for a moment... :lmao:)

So with that, I was hoping for a vanilla cake, white chocolate filling with strawberries in the filling as well, and a few white chocolate covered strawberries surrounding the cake itself. As for around the cake, I'd like some web-like designs in white chocolate (dyed pink though) to give it a curtain effect around the whole cake. (it's hard to explain. I need to draw it at some point to give you guys a better idea.) It doesn't need to be HUGE, but if 8" is the smallest I can go for this type of cake, then I'd take it. We'd definitely eat it in a week's time. :thumbsup2

With all of that in mind (and that's a lot, I know), what do you guys think is the best bakery to be able to accomplish this feat? My hunch would be Brian :wizard:, but I'm not too sure on whether we'd be either staying at any of the eligible hotels or going to any of the eligible restaurants. For all I know this cake is impossible to do within the Disney World bakeries, but I'd love if it was possible! Again, this is all still very early in the process. I just wanted to get my ideas out now and where the best place would be to go. If you made it this far in my post, congrats!

If not (in which you can't read this lol), then I don't blame you. I rant too much. :rolleyes1

We just got back Monday night. Ordered DD a Monsters, Inc cake for her 3rd birthday. Dinner at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian.

It was $60 plus tax. Vanilla/vanilla. I just realized as I was posting the pictures that they didn't include Boo like I asked for, but DD never noticed, neither did DH or I. The taste was ok. The cake itself was pretty flavorless. The frosting was sickly sweet and much too thick for our taste. You didn't want to eat the frosting, but almost had to. Maybe the cake would have been ok on it's own if my first couple of bites hadn't been with the frosting; the frosting could have killed my pallet.

I would definitely order again though, DD was so excited. Next time I'd go for chocolate. We only did vanilla because FIL hates chocolate cake, won't touch it.

We loved our dinner, characters were great and even remembered us from MNSSHP as the Tremains. I guess our dinner was like the cake. Presentation was great, taste not so much lol.

Do I win a toaster for reading the whole thing? :rotfl: First, you are smart to do the cake early on in your trip. They tend to be big, you tend to be full after dinner and it's nice to nosh on it all week. :thumbsup2

Second, I cannot promise that you will get everything on your cake wishlist; however, I can tell you that Brian is amazing and is able to put in personal touches. I wholeheartedly recommend him. Of course, after our trip in 2 weeks, I'll let you know what I think of Y&BC bakery. ;)

I'm so excited for you! We, too, are going to the MK for Christmas for our first time this year. Only this trip, perhaps I'll get around to posting my trip report, instead of taking tons of notes and leaving them in my suitcase... :goodvibes

Oh, forgot to add, if you want Brian to do the cake, you have to eat at a restaurant serviced by the CR bakery. ;)

*looks up current prices of toasters on amazon, sees that they're cheap(ish)* Erm.....suuuuure! One toaster coming up! All you need to do is pay the....uh....*looks at price again* $12 for 'shipping and handling'......yep, that's all! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Like you said, having a cake early in the trip is the best way to go, and I found that out by all the stories on here. It only seems to make sense. I know it's not always possible when you order a cake AFTER you make an ADR or book your hotel, but I'm still in the planning process, so I'm thinking ahead. :)

I am fully ready for the possibility that the cake I want won't be achievable, but if that is the case, I might be able to work around it. I have a few ideas floating up in this noggin of mine. :wizard:

After all the good reviews and stories I've seen about Brian, I don't believe I could think of anyone else to do my cake. :cutie:

Lucky you for going this year for Christmas! I wanted to do it this year, but with things crazy back at home here (with getting ready to move and all), and the money needed for the trip not available to us right now, we had to wait. Last time I was in WDW was May/June 2010, and I'm so SO SOOOOO itching to go back already! I've gone in 1996, 1997, 2009, and then 2010, so that 12 year gap left me just hooked for life. :hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper:

Infamousmare....sorry that you had such a hard time getting through to someone! For OKW, I called the hotline & was forwarded to Olivia's restaurant at OKW. The lady took my name & number & I received a call within 2 days. As I said the CM was very nice. I'll post a pic of the Mickey Head when I get back!

Taking the leap... I have been inspired (and frightened as well) by some of the cakes in this thread. I have decided to get a fancy cake for my Husband's 44th birthday. We are traveling with the kids and I would like to make it extra special for all of them... and noshing on cake in the room for a couple of days would not be too difficult for us.

We will be at Sanaa (and staying at Jambo AKV) for lunch on Thanksgiving which is also on his actual Birthday this year. He loves Dumbo so I am trying to arrange a Dumbo circus theme cake (see picture for my inspiration)

10 inch Fondant... white cake and chocolate mousse filling. With Dumbo cut out topper and chocolate Happy Birthday cut out banner.

I am working with Amber from Boma and she is very nice.

Can't wait to see your cake!! :woohoo:

We are about to head down and are traveling with some friends, one of which will be hitting a milestone birthday while there. The wife is interested in getting her hubby a cake and I had mentioned possibly using an off-site one due to the bad personal experience with an on-site cake and the wide range of results from various DISsers with on-site cakes. Can anyone recommend some good off-site bakeries that might deliver a cake to our resort? TIA

We ordered a cake to celebrate our anniversary last week. I had initially called the cake hotline & was told they couldn't do a non-Disney themed cake. (We wanted a tropical theme as we got married in Jamaica.) After some encouragement here on this thread, I called back closer to our trip (about a week before) but called directly to the Boardwalk Bakery. I spoke to Jessi & she gave me her email address to email some photos. I emailed her several photos from our wedding but I never heard back from her... even after a second follow up email. I was busy getting ready to go so I figured a cake just wasn't meant to be on this trip. While we were visiting family over the weekend of 11/5 there was a message left at our home number from one of the chefs at the BW Bakery. Unfortunately I didn't get the message in time.

When we checked in at BWV on 11/8, we received a message from the BW Bakery that they needed some information about our cake. I called only to find that they had already made our cake & it was ready to be delivered, they just needed payment! I had no idea what they had created for us other than it was a 10 inch vanilla cake with chocolate mousse filling, buttercream frosting and tropical flower decorations, which is what I had requested in the email.

I was very happy when they delivered the cake to our villa!

I didn't love the palm trees on the side but otherwise I thought the cake was beautiful. It was very tasty too! Sorry I didn't take a picture after we cut into it.

It cost $75 ($45 for the cake plus $30 for the flowers) and came to $96.57 with the $3 trip charge, 18% ($13.50) gratuity and $5.07 tax.

Check with Babycakes at DTD, I don't know if they deliver, but they are onsite, it is in the Pollo Campero restaurant, wher ethe McDonald's used to be.

I'm glad you were happy with it, even if it wasn't exactly what you wanted. I like the palm trees. I thought they were the thing that made it look more special than an average cake. :) They're unique.

Oh, that came out lovely! Glad to hear it was tasty, too -- we ordered a cake from Jessi at BWI for our trip in a few weeks. :thumbsup2

I'm getting ready to call to get a cake for our 1st anniv. I can't decide if I should just do one mini cake, or get a 6" fancier cake. I want it for our first night there, so we'd have the rest of the week to eat it. I would have it delievered to us after dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table, so that would be Chef Brian right? Any advice?

Also I was just wondering if anyone has asked about getting a funfetti cake, instead of just a plain white or chocolate cake? That's what our wedding cake was, and I thought it'd be nice to have.

Yay! I just ordered our cake! We ordered a hand-piped Mickey head cake for my Mickey-obsessed almost 3 year old. So excited!

Where did you order from? and how much was this? I think I want the same.

We are having it delivered to our dinner at Chef Mickey's so we ordered from the bakery at Contemporary. The cake is $48 plus tax and tip. This post will tell your where else the cake is available.

I am not sure how many other bakeries make a hand piped version.

This is the hand piped cake:

and the non-hand piped cake:

My advice would be that if you have a definite idea in mind, be VERY specific about what you want. If you can send a photo or a sketch, even better. If you want to give the chef free reign but are particular about a few things (like no 2-D images on white chocolate) be sure to mention it.

Definitely ask about funfetti—the chef can tell you what's possible. I got chocolate chips in our cake, so maybe it'd be a similar thing.
