I am looking to order the Mickey Mouse head cake to be delivered to our lunch at Tony's. Do they add the charge of the cake onto your bill or can you pre-pay for the cake? I am hoping to be able to prepay since we are on the dining plan and don't want to have to worry about having the money with me. Also, has anyone recently had the Mickey Mouse head cake? I am hoping to get it with just the ganache and no buttercream, all of the pictures posted seemed to have buttercream piped on top in different spots.

Thanks!

I am not sure you can get the Mickey cake delivered there? Maybe Lurkyloo can answer that better?

With nearly 200 pages to read, I thought I would just ask. Forgive me if this has been addressed. If I want a cake to come out at dessert, can I bring my OWN cake and give it to my server to bring out? Or will they only serve a Disney ordered cake ?
thanks

Due to Florida Health Regulations, they cannot take outside food into the kitchen. You can bring your cake (at least I've heard of people doing that) but the staff won't take it and serve it.

Has anyone ordered a mini wedding cake from Boardwalk Bakery recently?? I was going to order one for the hubby and I for our 8 year anniversary, but don't want to spend a fortune...especially given that we are on the Deluxe Dining plan and already get "free" dessert. We are eating at Flying Fish to celebrate, so I thought I would have it delivered there or just pick it up on the way there.

You can get the Mickey Mouse cake inside the Magic Kingdom. The only place that serves it with piped buttercream on top is the Contemporary Resort—everywhere else it is covered in ganache. However, since the Contemporary supplies cakes for the Magic Kingdom, you might be safest to order yours directly from the Contemporary and specify that you want the ganache-covered version, not the piped buttercream one. More info on ordering HERE.

The price of the cake is added to your bill.

Let me make a note to this you have to request the piping on the mickey cake at the CR if you want it. I didn't ask for it and got ganache.

You can bring it but they cannot hold it for you. It would have to sit at your table the whole time. As another poster said... it is because of health regulations.

Because it's not a standard Disney bakery design. The pastry chef at the Yacht & Beach Club invented the Jedi Mickey by customizing an existing figurine. There are no molds for Jedi Mickey that can be used by other Disney bakeries. Maybe if you contacted the Y&BC bakery in advance they could sell you a Jedi Mickey to pick up at one of the resort restaurants...?

Ah, that makes sense. Still a bummer though :headache: Thanks for your answer!

Are the mini-wedding cakes available everywhere, or only at GF and Boardwalk? Will they make them at the Contemporary?

:cool1:
Do you think Brian from the contemporary could do something along these lines:
Chocolate sponge, Kahlua mousse? I thought I remember reading about special fillings...:confused3

And as far as his contact info, it is in this thread correct?

You could ask. Brian does amazing work. My sister ordered a cake for my niece. It was soooooooooo amazing. It was beyond what we had pictured. If someone could post the instructions to post pictures, I could have her post them. It was a toy story themed cake. My niece is a really big alien fan.

So, just to give everyone a heads up, I've ordered our cake for our September trip....

I called the cake hotline, who took information, then gave me Chef Brian's email (since we are eating at CG ). I went back and forth with him on ideas, and this is what we've ordered:

8 Inch Round Chocolate cake w/ Peanut Butter Mousse filling (my husband's fave)
White fondant covered cake w/ Steamboat Willie theme. (some 2D elements, and screenprints included)

As this is an anniversary cake, it will also have our monogram, as well as our wedding date.

Cost of cake quoted was 165.

I'll post pictures once we get back later in September, so excited!!!

They aren't available everywhere, but the Contemporary can make them - here's one they made me a few months ago:

Yes the info is correct still. You need to speak with him directly to find out about special fillings, but it does seem like he's more willing/able to do these than they are at other WDW bakeries.

First you need to upload the images to a photo-sharing site like Photobucket. Then each picture will be given a code in different formats. Copy the IMG code and paste it into your post here.

Can't wait to see it! :thumbsup2

I called today to the Boardwalk Bakery and spoke with Chef Deran...and ordered the mini wedding cake. Chocolate cake, fudge filling, vanilla buttercream, all white decoration. He quoted me $25.00 and they are delivering it to the Flying Fish. They took a credit card to hold the cake order, but said it would be added to our bill at Flying Fish. Very excited to see the end result!!

I don't understand the inconsistences with the cake ordering. Many people have said you could get the mini wedding cake with different fillings. My DBF has been emailing back and forth with Pat from the GF about a private dinner for my birthday and she said this to him:

"Please note, the miniature wedding cake doesn’t have a filling – it is only 3-inches round and meant for one person."

Is this the one others are getting choices of fillings? Am I the confused one?

I literally JUST got off the phone with the Boardwalk Bakery and they said fillings were "no problem" and I picked the chocolate mousse or fudge...whatever it ends up being...haha!! They were VERY nice and accommodating!!

I was told that the bottom tier of the cake is 4" and that the top tier of the cake is 1 1/2"'s round. I told them that I wanted all white decorations and wanted it very simple and classic. They also told me that it only feeds 1-2, but we also have Deluxe Dining so plan to order a two desserts from Flying Fish anyways...so that is more than enough. It will be very cool to share a mini wedding cake with my 1 1/2 year old son and hubby!

Could it be that she thinks you want this cake?

It only comes in chocolate w/chocolate frosting, vanilla w/ white chocolate frosting or cheesecake—no filling, which makes me think this is the one she's referring to.

If he can explain to her that he wants a 2-tier mini wedding cake like this one, maybe she'll understand...

THANK YOU LURKYLOO !!! I bet that is what she thought he meant, he should have said two tiered. We will get an email sent to her asap!!

Just got back from our wonderful Disney stay and Chef Brian did a great job. I wanted a simple Welcome to Disney themed cake. It was Chocolate Cake, chocolate filling with cherries (so yummy) and chocolate buttercream icing. The decorations were all done in white chocolate. My DD loved it and was so excited she got a Disney cake (she looked at the pictures with me one night and said she wanted one). It was delivered to our room in the CR and we ate it during the fireworks.

8" cake with filling
$99 (including room delivery and tip and whatnot)
