I just learned how to post pictures. I'll try to attempt to load a pic of DD's birthday cake last April. I asked the lady at the GF bakery to simply do a "Pirate" themed cake with a budget of around $100. I told her I didn't care what they did, just to surprise us. Here's what she got:

The funny thing is that Jack Sparrow is DD's FAVE!!!! What a fab surprise.:goodvibes

Can anyone tell me if the CR bakery will deliver to the Poly? I'm looking to have a cake for the Luau at 8pm. Also, can they put Winnie the Pooh characters on the cake? Thanks.

does anyone know the # for private dining at the contemporary?

As posted at the top of this page and on the previous page, there is no direct number to private dining at the Contemporary. :thumbsup2 You have to call the main phone number and ask to be transferred. (407) 824-1000

Can cakes be delivered to CBR? I'd prefer to not have to carry a cake around around at the parks or after dinner.

Call the Cake Hotline and follow the prompts for CBR. Maybe someone at the food court can help you arrange to have one delivered by the BoardWalk Bakery as has been done at a few other Moderate resorts.

They'll deliver to WL and the Magic Kingdom, so I don't see why not. As I recall, though, they can't do Pooh characters due to licensing issues. (Heck, they can't even do Handy Manny's tools! :rotfl:)

LOL :) But, just to clarify ... with HMT it's a character integrity thing not a licensing thing. They can't do edible 3D Handy Manny Tools ... the 2D screen printed ones are apparently fine. That said, it gets pricey if you want the Tools separate (that is, not in a single group picture).

Hi everyone,
I have tried to do a search for this, but I don't seem to have any luck. I may be asking something that's been asked a million times, and if so, I am very sorry!

I will be at WDW in February, celebrating my husband's 50th birthday. We will be at Chefs De France on the first day of our trip and I am wondering how to order something special for his dessert. I don't necessarily want a whole cake, because I'm sure we won't eat it and I don't want to carry it with us on the Illuminations Cruise after that. Plus, he's not a cake fan, per se. He LOVES cheesecake. I don't know if that might be an option? :confused3 I've seen the adorable chocolate slippers with the mousse inside, and that might be an option, too, although he might not appreciate a slipper for his manly 50th bday! :lmao:

Any ideas? And if you do have ideas? How do I go about implementing them?

Thank you very much for your help!

I ordered my cake for the California Grill for our anniversary. I am absolutely scared now. I have loved all of the designs I have seen Brian do, but everyone talks about how detailed their emails with him get and he basically said they couldn't do one thing (which I completely understand because the characters don't go together, it was a shot in the dark anyway) and then said they could do a mad hatter style in blah blah size for blah blah and to call the cake hotline. So now I am worried he doesn't really want to do it and it won't be exciting for DH. I saw another cake with an alice in wonderland (DH loves the cheshire cat) theme and wasn't impressed (I don't think Brian did it) I am sure I am just being neurotic here, but I want my DH to LOVE this cake. I was hoping that by leaving it mostly up to Brian that it would be more creative but now I am scared I didn't have a solid enough idea. Anyway I am rambling

Can someone clarify this for me?

I thought you couldn't get a custom cake smaller than 10"? But I see posts about 6 and 8" cakes that are custom.

I'm looking to get one in Oct for DS's 5th birthday lunch at Chef Mickey's. Thanks for all the great tips so far!

The email address you were given is most likely Brian's. As I mentioned in the post just above yours, he indicated to me that he would be "out of the office" until August 8th - so you probably won't hear anything until at least then. (I will say though, that when he is at work, he is very efficient in responding to emails. FWIW, I usually got my replies late morning (11AMish) to midafternoon (3:30PMish). Oh, and I would think there is more than enough time between the 8th and the 14th (11 days from now) for you to get your cake. :goodvibes

Ok, I just figured someone else would be responding to the emails in the mean time. We leave for our trip on August 12th, so I'm sure that will be plenty of time to communicate what I want. Once we hit the road, we will no longer have internet access. Thanks for your help!

So now I'm really nervous. I had emailed cakemanbri and ordered a cake for the Aug 6th. I am REALLY glad we went w/ the Haunted Mansion cake. I sent him a picture of it and said that's what I want. The other 2 ideas were not as concrete. I had pictures of what I liked but they weren't exactly what I wanted. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I sympathize with where you're at ... my first plan wasn't doable either ... and it took a few emails between Brian and I to work out a second option. (To be honest, I was getting a bit frazzled, but it did all work out. :goodvibes)

I approached it as "I would like this idea, but do with it what you think is best" and then took his suggestions under consideration. Some things I liked, others I didn't, and so it was another round of emails. In the end, my theme is pretty generic "tools and mickey heads, clean/geometric style, no flowers" and I've left the creativity part to Brian. (That way, I get a bit of a surprise too.)

If you've seen the Mad Hatter style cakes (see Post 2 on this thread if you haven't) and like them, then you'll probably like what Brian puts together for you. That said, if there's something you definitely don't want (a particular color for example) make sure to send him another email to let him know. Also, if there is a particular Mad Hatter cake (or aspect of one) that you like alot, download a photo and attach it to an email explaining what it is that you particularly like.

Hope this helps ... I can't wait to see my dad's cake next week!

I'm not sure if someone else would be or not ... I'm new to this whole cake business myself! :goodvibes And, when I placed the order officially with Private Dining, they did take my cell number to pass on if Brian had further questions. (I also won't have internet access once we leave home.)

I did call the cake hotline for a cake from Brian. I want a 6" custom cake, so the CM told me I had to talk with the pastry chef, which is Brian. She also confirmed he would be out of the office until August 8th. She gave me his email address to contact him, and said he would reply on the 8th. My ADR is for 8/16. Thank you to all for all your help.:goodvibes

So, it's okay to eat Mickey Mouse, just not Handy Manny's tools? :rotfl:

On advice I got from here and PMs from people who had ordered, I sent an e-mail today to Chef Brian for my specialized/personalized 6 inch cake. So I see he is out until the 8th, but should I expect and e-mail from him after then? The cake is for 8/20. Someone else recommended e-mailing 15 days out because it was a week before he got back to her.

I'm taking my almost 3 year old daughter to DW again for her Bday...and we are having dinner in Norway with the Princesses...it will only be the two of us...Is it worth it ordering the 6 inch cake? Are they good? She won't know the difference and since it's plain it's not going to be thrilling...On her 1st birthday we ate at CRT for dinner and they brought her a special dessert...and so did Tokyo Dining just a little dessert with a candle...will Norway do this too? I know dessert is included for dinner anyway and I don't wanna be stuck with a cake for the rest of the night...I do want it to be special for her though!

Can someone clarify this for me?

I thought you couldn't get a custom cake smaller than 10"? But I see posts about 6 and 8" cakes that are custom.

It varies by location. Generally, it seems that only the Grand Floridian will customize 6-inch cakes; the Contemporary only goes as small as 8 inches for custom cakes, and Yacht & Beach Club will only customize a 10-inch or bigger.

You can still order standard 6-inch and 8-inch cakes at these places, though. I just don't get why they won't customize smaller cakes. 10 and even 8 inches is a LOT of cake! :sad2:

Last year I called the WL bakery and ordered a cake for our anniversary to surprise DH. They delivered it to our room. Granted, I had to order a 10" since that was as small as they would go and do custom flavors. It was delicious! We had chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and fresh raspberry filling and chocolate buttercream icing. It was excellent and I am a complete cake snob. Chocolate cake (to me) is usually dry and it was very moist! We ended up eating the whole thing over the course of our stay since we ordered it on the first day. Can you still order from the WL bakery to deliver to your room at WL?

Isn't Akershus one of the locations where you can get the little princess treasure chest cake? It seems like they're usually available at character meals. If the servers don't surprise you with a cupcake or something to celebrate, you could order one of those on the spot. She might like it just cuz it looks different!

Yes!

I was wondering if anyone has an idea of how much a single tier cake with the silver mickey heads imprinted on it would be. I would like to bring my own cake topper if they will let me. I am looking for a 8 or 10 inch. Thanks
