Official Disney Cake Chatter - Part V!

Are there directions anywhere for how to upload a photo on here? I have one of our anniversary cake and wanted to show you guys. Nothing earth-shattering, but adorable and absolutely delicious!
You can click on "Upload a File" as seen at the bottom of this screenshot. You then have the option to choose either "thumbnail" or "full image"

Thank you, Party of 4. If it comes up you will see our anniversary cake that we had at Olivia's at OKW. I will say I was a bit disappointed at the delivery of the cake, but it makes for a funny story. When we checked into Olivia's I got a thumbs up from the hostess that the cake was there, and so I figured they know what they are doing so just sat back and had our meal. Our waiter was a little, um, uninspired that night, not engaging in much conversation, etc. Anyway, he brought the dessert menus, and of course my family all ordered the banana bread pudding as they liked that last time we ate there. I kind of smiled at the waiter and said I'd only have coffee. He came back a few minutes later and said, "So I'm confused. There's some cake back there for you and now everyone ordered desserts. Do you really want those? Or what?" At that point we all laughed, and I said bring the desserts and the cake (like we could all share that itty-bitty cake!!). He tried to announce it to all those around us, but he said he didn't get whether it was a birthday, anniversary, or what?? "Or what??" was something we said throughout the rest of our trip and laughed each time.

Regardless, the cake was the best cake I had all trip. Vanilla cake with vanilla frosting and white chocolate filling. It wasn't over-refrigerated, which I found a lot of the cupcakes/bakery items were throughout the parks.

Well - I guess I can't add it because it is telling me the image is too large. Anyway, I called the number on the first page of this thread for OKW and worked with a very accommodating gal named Jen. Easy!

So here's our cake story from last month!

I went to the Boardwalk Bakery with our oldest son to pick up the cake. They brought out the cake and the two of us started to laugh - not mad, just funny. The cake was plain red with piping and paw prints. I asked about the paw prints, and the CM said she would check. She pulled the ticket and it said "Elena theme - chef's choice" and then it looked like someone added the word "leopard." The manager was not familiar with Elena and wasn't sure why the ticket said "leopard." My oldest son quickly looked up Elena on line and said he thought they were trying to go for a theme related to her pets - the jaquins. We quickly learned the names of all three jaquins so that we could "sell" this to the birthday boy as a jaquin-themed Elena cake.

Hmm, with 3 Elena fans in our house I have to say that cake confused me as well. Lol, glad you had a good attitude about it though. Definitely seems like they weren't very familiar with the character.

I'm hoping to have a mini cake delivered to our room at Coronado springs. All the contact details on the first page are telephone numbers, but as I live in the UK it will cost me a fortune to ring an American number. Is there anyone who post of this thread from the UK who can tell me how they went about ordering a cake or if there is an email address to use? Thank you

Call the UK number hopefully they will transfer you to the correct person. I have done that in the past for other things.

Is there a number I can call to talk to a live person about a cake? I called the cake ordering hotline and I didn't find an option for speaking to a live person. I wanted to order the chocolate Mickey Mouse head cake for my daughter's birthday on our upcoming cruise on the Fantasy. I know I have to fax in a special order form to the cruise line to order, but I wanted to talk to someone about the ingredients. My son has a peanut allergy, but he is fine with items "produced in a facility/shared equipment" with peanuts. As long as there is not actual peanuts in the cake he'll be fine. Given the description of the cake, there shouldn't be peanuts in it, but obviously we don't want to take a chance. Thanks.

got our latest cake on friday. it was beautiful and we were very pleased!

my only regret is that i was only able to take photos of it in the wave where its so dark. even the leftovers were so much more beautiful in natural light. these pictures do it (or the edible glitter!!) no justice:

(detail shot of the sparkle...after it had been cut into hence the crumbs and smudges)

this baymax/sanfransokyo cake was made by the contemporary. it had a 6" bottom cake that was vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream and a 4" top that was chocolate cake with cream cheese icing.
it cost $140.

for reference, i attached the drawing/spec sheet i made and sent to the pastry chefs. the result was pretty spot on! ETA: i had originally wanted this as a mini-cake which ended up not being possible. it all worked out anyway, because we ate the smaller top layer at the restaurant and brought the larger bottom layer home (as we got the cake the last night of our trip) and celebrated again with grandparents/other family and ate the larger bottom cake. the fondant kept everything sealed up and fresh for that extra day.

Hi! I apologize if this has been asked, I haven't been able to go through all the pages! I want to have Birthday cakes for my 1yo and 3yo at our BOG dinner... what options do I have? From what I'm reading, it doesn't look like many. I really wanted mini cakes for each of them. But can do 1 large cake for both. Their Birthdays are only a few days apart and it's their first Disney trip!

Here's the photo of @Harambe 's cake and all the details below!

Page 1, Post #2 has complete details.... unfortunately, for the Magic Kingdom they are quite few. Disney is no longer offering custom cakes there. You have a choice of all-chocolate or all-vanilla pre-made cake that you can ask for at the podium, or a Mickey Mouse head cake that feeds 10 and must be ordered 72 hours in advance.

Thank you! I wish I had more options at MK, that's where we really wanted to celebrate the birthdays. Maybe we should do it elsewhere, we just wanted a kid- friendly restaurant.

Since it looks like the options for cakes at MK are very limited now, has anyone started bringing their own "toppers" for the plain cakes to make them more "custom"?? I wonder if you could give it to the waiter to add to the cake before they bring it out? I'm thinking just a small topper with name and age... or custom candle for birthday cake??

So interesting. I called the Boardwalk number again to order a second cake for our stay. As mentioned above, I just ordered a 6" cake with red fondant and a Princess Elena theme from the Boardwalk a few days ago. This time, I explained that I was interested in another 6" custom cake and the CM told me they could not do custom in anything smaller than 8". I told her that we already ordered a custom 6" for our stay, and she said those were limited circumstances. I let her know that if we can't do smaller than 6" for our second cake, we'd skip the order. She told me to have a magical day.

I've had a similar experience!! First I tried to call the 407-939-5175 to order a custom cake at 830am EST (but 330am HST for me!) and was told I had to call the cake hotline number FIRST. uhhhh, ok. so I called the cake hotline number & left a voicemail about where I was staying & when & what I wanted. While I'm at work, I can't have my cell phone, so I wasn't able to receive the call back which was time stamped at 845am HST. I decided to risk calling back at 430pm HST (930pm EST) & got to speak with CM Terry. When I explained that I wanted a 6" custom cake (lemon cake with blackberry mousse with Ursula the Sea Witch theming) she explained that they only can customize flavors on a mini cake $35 or 8" cake $40, no fondant or images. She said the 6" cakes come to them pre-made so no flavor variations allowed & no theming on it either. Hmmm. She said she has been taking orders for cakes for 3 years & that's how it's always been. She did say I could call back at an earlier time when the bakers were there to answer questions. I will make it another early morning to see if I get a different answer. Crossing fingers! I'm afraid an 8" cake is just TOO much for 3 of us, so I really would prefer a 6".
