@lurkyloo Carrie, is this a "standard" mini-cake, or what should I ask for to get a two-layer mini-cake?

Am I correct in understanding that anything/everything ordered for delivery from the GF bakery starts at $100 (plus tax), even if it's a mini-cake delivered next door to the Poly?

We are staying at the Poly but have a dinner reservation at the Contemporary. Would I be better off ordering the cake at the Contemporary? They seem more affordable and easier to work with than the GF.

What's the churro cake flavor like? Is it a yellow cake with cinnamon swirl, or a cinnamon-flavor (and is it good, or "artificial" tasting), or what?

Finally... does anyone know if the fridge in the regular rooms at the Poly (2Q/sofa bed, water view) will hold a 6" cake?

Are you staying in the Moana rooms or the DVC studio (has 2 baths and kitchenette)? In the past we’ve had our cake leftovers stores at Bell Services at AKL (we boxed the topper from our cake which was our wedding photo printed in the HM frame for $50) on check out day.

Ohana gave us a hard time in the past to get to go boxes for our cake (because it’s a buffet?) but they do now offer the to go boxes readily.

I don’t believe they will deliver to the Contemporary as it has its own bakery (our 6 inch cake with a printed picture in the front and fondant was $100+20 ($20 tip as part of dinner bill) post pandemic at Contemporary and the GF cake delivered to our AOA room was underwhelming but I believe the CM (new team vs pre pandemic) are better trained now. See more info on page 197 of this thread cake from the contemporary STK71 (and they made it nut free; DD reacted to the cake from GF):



I still believe the GF fondant tastes better but the cake flavor was comparable. Daisy Cakes Orlando cake (former CM, minimum $150 but was elaborate HM cake with portraits and plenty of buttercream under toffee like fondant) tasted better than any GF/Contemporary cake (pumpkin cake) but we had to keep it at our table and then take it out of the box ourselves etc.

If you want a cake from the GF maybe have it delivered at Ohana? It would be easier to go back to your room and store leftovers (there will be plenty when you have a TS even if there are 5 of you). Plus you can’t light candles in your room and cutting the cake can get messy.

Moana rooms have a beverage cooler

DVC rooms might have a fridge and freezer (I posted additional photos from a blog a few posts back) and if you remove the middle shelf you can probably store a 6 inch cake in a box (we did at AOA last year).

Also the mini cakes are about $55 (used to be $35 pre pandemic). We have never ordered them.

Found a post on the mini fridge with freezer (slowly being replaced at Poly) at AKL studio villas. If you get this fridge maybe ask for additional boxes and cut the cake to fit the drawer?

I would ask for a "two-tier minicake"—just know that the GF pastry team has been reluctant to do these lately. Even couples who had Disney weddings are being told they have to order a full 6-inch cake if they want to replicate their wedding cake.

Definitely! They're just a little harder to get ahold of now that they've discontinued their cake line. Call the main number for the Contemporary and ask to be transferred to Private Dining.

It's cinnamon cake, kind of like a cinnamon muffin or the soft part of a churro. Ask for it with the Churro Crunch Mousse and it's AMAZING! I don't usually like cinnamon stuff, but the churro cake is one of my faves!

I just ordered a "Ratatouille" themed cake for our June trip. We will be celebrating my daughter's birthday. I got a 10-inch vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream frosting. The woman I spoke with was awesome. I decided on a "Chefs Decision" cake, so I'm not sure what it is going to look like. They are going to deliver it to Trattoria al Forno for our dinner ADR. So excited. The cost was not that bad, they charged me $200.

I got thru by emailing the grand Floridian email that was pinned somewhere. A 6 inch cake is $100 with buttercream. It was more expensive if you do fondant. At first I was told I had to pick up the cake to bring to restaurant. But once they found out I am staying on property they are going to deliver it my hotel, saves me some time going back and forth riding the monorail

Did you pay in full already on the cake. I thought I read if your delivery to restaurant then that might be added to your restaurant bill?

How do you get a hold of contemporary private dining? When i called earlier today they said private dining wasn’t available and I thought it was just one main line. Do you need to specify either contemporary or grand floridian and not private dining?

I called this number and was told any cakes are done thru MDE dining reservation. Told CM I wanted a custom cake, but told had to use app. How do I get to someone to place a cake order. Dining and want it for Steakhouse 71 dinner in 2 weeks.

My patented method is to keep calling and speaking with different CMs until I get the answer I want to hear! But if the Contemporary truly isn't doing custom cakes right now, then Grand Floridian Private Dining should be able to make one for you and deliver it as long as you spend $100 or more.

I spent a great deal of time with several CMs trying to get to someone at Contempoary and last I was told was that the “cake line number has been disconnected” and I would need to talk to “dining” ( the regular dining reservations line ) to get a cake. Also, suggested I contact a 3rd party vendor.
Guess tomorrow I’ll try to contact someone at Grand Floridian.

This was my first time ordering a cake at Disney and ordered through Yacht and Beach Club Bakery Cake hotline. It took multiple phone calls since some people were out of office on certain days. I called about 10 days prior. They can only do 10 inch cakes (at least that's what they told me). They made my dream cake! It was to celebrate my 50th Birthday. I asked for a standing image of Cinderella (they emailed me approved choices), light blue fondant and blue and gold butterflies, and buttercream pink roses, and glitter! Inside cake was chocolate cake with raspberry. *EDITED Got my photos to upload. Thanks LurkyLoo for also posting my cake pictures

Greetings all! Staying at Wilderness Lodge and I tried calling 407-824-1000 a few times but they say the number is always busy when they attempt to transfer. They gave me a direct number to call, 407-827-2253, which they state is the Cake Line but it does not work.

Dredged through my emails and found Glorimar who I worked with in the past for other cakes and was pleased to see she is still around! I sent her the image and requested a two tier, buttercream only mini-cake and she confirmed I could get that. I have a call planned with her in the morning to solidify details and payment. Making peace now with the fact I need to make additions to inflate the price since it is now coming from GF for delivery lol.

So 5 years ago, I ordered a custom cake for my DD through CR Private dining that was supposed to be delivered to Cali Grill, and was never delivered. I believe my post is still in this thread back in July 2019. I am trying to redeem myself this year, and only have 3 nights. Which of the following would you try to do?

1. 1st night, which is the actual birthday night, we have the Fireworks dinner package at Spice Road. I don't see Spice Road on the list, but I see Restaurant Marrakesh, but supplied by a different external vendor and the option is 6-inch $23 cake in all-chocolate or all-vanilla. I assume that is just a plain cake with no Disneyfication?

2. 2nd night - Storybook Dining at WL - Has anyone gotten a cake delivered here? I may even go for an Evil Queen or 7 Dwarf motif instead of Rapunzel. I'm confused because I see WL under BOTH Contemporary and GF. Which one is it?

3. 3rd night- Raglan Road - Like Spice Road, I think this is just a generic, 3rd party option.

4. We're staying at YC, last option is to have a custom cake delivered from YC to the room on her actual birthday (1st night). Only issue is that we don't really need a 10-inch cake, but if this is the best option, I will splurge!

Note: I was hoping to keep the budget to up to $100 for a custom cake to feed 2-4 people (not the Mickey ears cake). Rapunzel would be the #1 choice, (or possibly Belle, or a villain, or Lightning McQueen).
