Here's my daughters 6th birthday cake. This was the second time using It's Tasty Too and I was again extremely happy with the result. I posted the inspiration cake on here about a month ago but I will post in again. This is an 8" with 3 layers. It cost $35 and it was chocolate with Reese Cup filling. I was expecting it to be a peanut butter filling but it wasn't. It turned out to be one of the best things I have ever eaten. It was a whipped frosting with lots of chopped up Reese's Cups in it. The cake was Very moist which I find seems to be a hard thing to do when it comes to chocolate. The inspiration cake is the 2 tier. Our cake is the one tier, oh and we added the characters. We also got her the Chocolate Slipper Dessert delivered to O'hana's for dinner. It was a flat $15 and turned out absolutely beautiful.

What am I doing wrong I can't these pics to show up. I can't remember how I did it last time, I know it seemed really easy now.

Let's see...are you using the Upload a File button in the lower right corner below the post box? The picture icon above the post box is only for links to images...

Ok I FINALLY got it to work. The first one is our cake that was $35 and tasted amazing. The last picture is the one I sent her for inspiration.

Dang - still not seeing the photos, but if you want to email them to me, I can post them for you!

Need some suggestions. My parents are taking our daughter to dinner on our first night there, so wife and I are having "date night dinner". I want to get a cake for my folks from my daughter saying thanks for coming to Disney again with us. Last year we got them a mini cake for their dinner at the Luau.

I'd be looking for a small cake (smaller than the one in my avatar). Maybe a 6 inch? I'd want it to be pretty cool (fancy fondant) but hopefully stay at or south of $80-85. Any ideas of themes? I was thinking PoC or something, and saying "Thanks....Love your matey, Elena" or something to that effect. Any other movie themes you think would be cool?

It would be through MK Cakes, so not sure if that is a good thing or bad thing.

Thanks in advance for ideas!

I want to order the yellow fondant Belle dress cake for my mom. I think I read that it came from the Grand Floridian. Can anyone confirm?

The cake in that photo was not made by Disney. One of the DISers who follows this thread is requesting that something similar be made for her by the Contemporary bakery on her next trip. You could submit that photo to any of the Deluxe resort pastry teams and they can attempt to re-create it (or something similar—I believe they are required to alter the design slightly so it isn't an exact copy).

That's my cake. Contemporary is making it for $83. Vanilla cake with Bavarian cream filling, six inch, single tier. The pic in my avatar is the cake. Got it off pinterest by searching Belle cakes.

Thanks so much for the info. Please post a pic of how it turns out.

image.jpg image.jpg View attachment 83402 How can the contemporary want to charge me $89 for this cake. My Belle cake is less. I only want a screen print on the cake, six inches, butter cream. How can I get cost down?

Can't get the image to post. Aghhhh!

Hi! Heard from chef Brian today and he's making me a 6" red velvet with cream cheese frosting graduation cake for my daughter with a 2D graduation Mickey. That's perfect. Didn't need anything too fancy. We are at BLT and I'm also going to have the Cinderella slippers delivered but asked if there was anything I could do for boys. He said he could do Mickey dome desserts. Has anyone had these or have a picture? Thanks!!

Do you actually communicate with Brian? I'm going through and intermediary.

I have always adored the cake that Winnie the Pooh gets for his birthday at the end of the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh ride, because it's pretty much the quintessential birthday cake — it's got chocolate and pink and flowers!

So I decided I would get a mini-cake version on my trip to Disney's bridal showcase. But when it turned out my cousin and his wife would be at Disney celebrating their anniversary at the same time, I asked Chef Brian to change the mini cake I'd ordered into this 6-inch cake. A birthday-for-your-anniversary cake....
  • Price: Quoted $63, charged $23
  • Size: 6-inch
  • Date Received: 2/28/15
  • Location: California Grill
  • Flavors: Pink-tinted vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream frosting (and plenty of it!)

My cousins loved the cake, and it was delicious! The pink vanilla cake was really moist, and the chocolate frosting was nice and sweet and buttercreamy just like I like.

Lurkyloo. Just wondering how I can get quoted $89 for a cake no more complicated than yours. Just a simple layer cake with a screen image on top. Only addition is some simple scroll work on the sides. I have been back and forth with the woman at Magic kingdom cakes and I feel I'm getting nowhere. Trip is in two weeks. Want to nail down this order. Help!!!!

Here is @NicoleLarson's cake made by local vendor It's Tasty Too!

Do you know how many layers you are getting? It does make a difference. No filling or anything? I've seen a few cakes where I've wondered how they came up higher than some others but most seem to be in similar range. For that Pooh cake I was assuming she got a great deal as a frequent customer perhaps, because that was really cheap. Not sure how much print screens cost. Is it on white chocolate?

Last trip I was certain the cheaper cake had to be a mistake because I was asking for something very similar and had a quote of $43 when the last was $75. Turned out it was mostly the number of people in my party. First was 6 inch 4 layer and the second was 6 inch 2 layer. And I did skip strawberry filling.

They've always said they don't do screen prints on 6-inch cakes. So I'd guess either you're being charged for an 8-inch cake or they've figured out a way to do it on a 6-inch that is very expensive! Can you email me your photos (PM me for the address) so I can post them and see how complicated that scroll work might be? Maybe there's something about it that makes it difficult to do.

OK, @quandrea here's your cake inspiration....

You mentioned that they are now quoting you $65 for an 8-inch with a screen print but no scrolls. I'll bet the price would go down if you nixed the fondant-ball border at the bottom. Wait... maybe it's piped buttercream? But if they think it's fondant balls, that could be driving up the price too.

Does anyone have any photos for the Coronado Springs cakes? Their offering/ordering process seems to be a bit different than the other moderates.
