I believe I've read reports on this thread of people doing this, but just wanted to confirm....Can I have a custom cake delivered at breakfast?

Yes, it doesn't matter what time of day you need the cake. :goodvibes

We are staying at BWV next month for 9 nights. Think I can pop down to the BW Bakery and custom order a cake for a few days later if nothing in the pre-made section appeals to me?

Or if something in the case looks good, will they personalize it with Happy Birthday ____ either on the cake or around the paper plate it sits on?

Thanks!

The last few times I've been in there, they haven't had any whole cakes sitting around available to purchase. But yes, as long as you give them 72 hours' notice they can make one for you.

Does anyone have pictures of a Wishes cake? I've searched for one and have seen people talk about them, but I'm having trouble finding actual pictures of them. I'd love to do one for DD's bday. Thanks!

Do you mean a cake with fireworks on it? There is no standard Wishes-themed cake. I do remember someone posting in one of these threads that they loved Wishes and got a fireworks-themed cake, but I can't turn up the photo (they were a bit disappointed in it, as I recall). But if you Google for fireworks-themed cakes, there are lots of results that might help inspire you. :goodvibes

Here is a few photos of a cake I ordered for my daughters 1st birthday. This was made by Chef Brian at the Contemporary. It costs $50 and it was worth it.

Thank you for sharing these!

Love this idea! I was thinking about an easter cake for our upcoming trip, but I like this idea so much more!

Also wondering if CR would deliver to Territory Lounge, or if we actually need an ADR for a cake delivery at WL.

I'll bet they would!

This is the design I would like does anyone think that AKL could do something like this?

You're definitely best asking them directly via the number in Post #2. :thumbsup2

We'd like to surprise DD and her family with a "welcome back" cake at dinner our first night. Looks like Via is serviced by outside vendors. Could I order the cake at Balkan bakery, pock it up and take it with us for dinner? We'd like something besides the standard podium cake. Thks.

If you don't mind carrying it all that way, I don't think security will hassle you for bringing in a cake. Via Napoli does make their own cakes, though. Just not fancy, fondant-covered ones.

In searching for design ideas for a pirate themed cake I keep coming across these little pirate cake celebrations for kids. It looks like a plastic treasure chest and someone described it as having a Sara Lee pound cake inside that's frosted with sprinkles and then has a flag sticking out making it look like a pirate ship and some sort of coin or something in front. Anyone know if they still do these and where or how to get one?

These were only available during the What Will You Celebrate campaign at Walt Disney World. You can always contact Private Dining at the resort and see what alternatives they have. Usually it's something like chocolate-covered strawberries or truffles or a cookie plate. The Contemporary also has a white chocolate monorail.

Hello Fellow cake chatter friends

I have been looking through all of the cake chatter threads and still I can't come up with a design.
I am looking for some advise
Cake for one (me),,perhaps a two tier mini cake.
I am a single mom and finally all three of my sons have graduated College/University and now have good careers/jobs.YEAH!
I'm so proud of them. It hasn't been easy at times but I did it and now want to eat some cake and celebrate.:cheer2:
Is there any tea cup/teapot/ design I could do with a two tier cake?
I am hoping to get a Be Our Guest Lunch ADR, however if not then I have a breakfast at Boma ADR and will be staying at OKW for a few days.

Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated
Thanks and
Hugs Mel

Congratulations on raising three sons singlehandedly! :goodvibes

Here's a teacup-themed mini cake. Not two tiers, but pretty dang cute! The Grand Floridian made it for one of Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings' bridal showcases, and I'll bet the Contemporary could do something similar for delivery to BOG.

Well that's a bummer, but thanks for the info. For my 3 year old twins they can't have pretty much any of that. No wheat, dairy, soy, egg, really grain of any kind aside from corn.

The pictures have inspired me to try and find something I can bring along with us though. They have an allergy free chocolate and they can eat marshmallows and I found a safe macaroon. If I can find a way to utilize those and maybe use pirate shaped molds for their chocolate (like chocolate lollipops) or make something look like treasure/coins I'd love to put them in something like that to present along side the cake. The trick will be how to get it into the park, hide it from them, and not let it melt before our lunch.

Thanks, lurkyloo. I e-mailed Brian yesterday to ask about delivery to Territory Lounge and I have a new idea. Our oldest loves Haunted Mansion and I've seen those great designs. So I asked about a Haunted Mansion mini cake with "Merry Unbirthday" and our son's name on the plate. Fondant, of course. :) We've been in WDW, DL and on DCL shortly before his bday, but never for his bday, so an "unbirthday" cake would be a fun surprise.

I emailed Magic Kingdom Cakes regarding the mini cake order I'd like delivered to our dinner at BOG (mentioned in my previous post in this thread). While they cannot replicate the flavors of the strawberry cupcake at BOG into a mini cake, they did offer this, "Our vanilla mini cakes are only available with white chocolate mousse filling and vanilla buttercream icing". So, I have decided to go with that for $35, and then I'll just order the strawberry cupcake to-go so I can have it on the flight home the next day. :)

we have a reservation at sanaa for my husbands birthday 10th feb, was thinking off getting him a cake but not wanting anything to fancy or two big as only 4 of us, was thinking of maybe a mickey mouse cake, how do i go about ordering this and roughly how much do you think it would be, thanks

Yes! They can do this! Amanda is a bit hard to get ahold of (took me 2 wks+), but she was able I make a similar cake.

Fair warning...I spent $109 on a cake like you are requesting. We left it in the box on the table in our club room akl...the maid stuck her fingers in it. Most disgusting thing ever. They have me my $ back, but I didn't want my money back (they came and took the cake). I wanted the cake. :(

Has anyone had the Frozen cake from Contemporary ..they have been very helpful and sent a pic just wondering has anyone ordered it

I am also trying to get a mini cake for BOG....I am hoping there is some way to do this without white chocolate involved (the birthday girl cannot eat white chocolate).... Anyone have any suggestions?

Can you order a milk chocolate cake instead? I think the reason she said white chocolate mousse filling is because I ordered a vanilla cake.

That email is just their standard answer. The Contemporary pastry team can make mini cakes in pretty much any flavor except carrot cake or fresh-fruit fillings. You just have to tell them you want to do a custom cake and they'll let you work with the Contemporary.

See post #2 of this thread. :thumbsup2

I'm going to be at WDW in a few weeks for Princess 1/2 Marathon Weekend. By BFF and I are running our first race, 10k.

I was thinking it would be fun to order some celebration cakes for after. We are going to be at MK the afternoon of the race and we have a reservation at the plaza.

We are dressing up for the race as Snow White's Evil Queen and Maleficent, so I was thinking that a pair of mini cakes, one for each character would be fun.

My idea is just to do a really simple design for both. Maybe with Maleficent's horns on the top of one, and the queen's crown on the other.

Awesome! I just emailed them....its challenging b/c the birthday girl cannot eat white chocolate and is allergic to strawberries....so birthday cake can sometimes be an issue. I just want her Disney cake to be something she can eat :goodvibes

I've several pages of these thread and all this information is so confusing. I may be crazy but I have a few questions about the 2 tier mini cake. The thing is this cake is for 2016 and I'll be staying at AOA. In 2016, my best friend and I will be having a girl's trip to celebrate being friends for 10 years, it's a big deal for both of us. So I'm wondering:

Where do I order a mini cake where I can customize the flavors and fillings? Is it possible to have friends forever written on the cake somehow? I was thinking chocolate or vanilla frosting with pink and purple mickey heads on the cake. I want to have a purple and pink color scheme since those are our favorite colors. I hope I'm not asking for too much because since it will only be the two of us, I really think a 6 inch cake would be too big. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Please let me know what part of Post #1 is confusing so I can make it more clear....
What if I want red velvet/carrot cake/something besides chocolate or vanilla?
Most bakeries have limited flavor options, but Deluxe resorts, the Magic Kingdom and Epcot can accommodate certain special requests. Your best bet is to be staying or dining at the Grand Floridian, whose bakery is responsible for most of the wedding cakes on property....

Where can I get a fancy, fondant-covered cake or a mini cake?
  • Animal Kingdom Lodge & Villas (no mini cakes)
  • BoardWalk Inn & Villas
  • Caribbean Beach
  • Contemporary Resort & Bay Lake Tower
  • Epcot (excluding restaurants in Mexico, China, Italy, Japan, Morocco, and France)
  • Fort Wilderness
  • Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
  • Magic Kingdom
  • Old Key West
  • Pop Century
  • Polynesian Resort
  • Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
  • Wilderness Lodge
  • Yacht & Beach Club & Villas

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to post that I was able to make two cake orders today! After reading through almost all of the Cake Chatter threads, I collected enough information to know who to call and how to order.

For the first cake, I called the Contemporary to get Chef Brian's email, then sent a description of the cake I wanted, asking for a quote. I received an email back the next day, saying I could have what I was asking for, and two quotes based on different frostings. I called today to place the order.

This cake is for my 7YO DD who will be on her very first Disney trip! It will be delivered to Chef Mickey on our very first night of vacation. It will be a two tier vanilla mini cake with Bavarian cream filling. The frosting will be blue buttercream, and there will be white snowflakes, and sugar crystals on it....like a Frozen theme. The banner on the plate will say, "Amy's First Magical Disney Vacation". The quote was for $35.

The second cake is a surprise for my husband's birthday on our 5th night of vacation. We are dining at 1900 Park Fare for dinner, after my DD has a BBB appointment, and meets Anna and Elsa with our FP. I called Pat at the Grand Floridian. We played phone tag for a few days, but I reached her this afternoon and placed my order.

This cake will be a six inch chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream filling, covered in chocolate ganache. I asked for chocolate ganache curls around the base of the cake and three chocolate covered strawberries on the plate. It is also supposed to have an image of Mr. Incredible on it:love:, with "Happy Birthday Daddy" written on the top. She quoted me $60.

I am so excited about these surprises, and I look forward to reporting back to this thread when I have pictures of the results

Thanks to all the people in this thread, and the information you all have shared, I felt like this was a pretty easy process!!!:cool1:

Does anyone know how big a cake has to be to put a 2d standing imagine on it? I'm looking at pics and some of the cakes look like 6inch but I can't be sure.

So I totally forgot to tell you all something!

On a social media site, someone had posted a picture of a Haunted Mansion cake based off the Stretching Room pictures. And a participant in the thread mentioned that Crystal at the Y&BC had done that particular cake and had tagged her in the post.
I then posted my mom's Redhead cake in the thread and said that Crystal was awesome and did my mom's cake as well.

Well....Crystal came into the thread and said that she loved making my mom's cake!! And that she kept saying 'We wants the red head' all throughout the day in the bakery :goodvibes

Then my mom came into the thread and thanked her personally. It was completely unexpected and an awesome way to say Thank You to the person who made the cake come alive :)

I saw that and recognized your cake from here! I had totally thought you knew Crystal was on that board or something the way she chimed in. That's cool she is so into making these cakes.

Yuck! Was she trying to move it or something? $110 was around what I was expecting so that's not too bad
