So excited to be ordering cakes again! Last year i ordered two mini cakes for my twins' 2nd birthday at Captain's Grill and they did an amazing job (my daughter got a princess cake, my son a pirate Micky one). Of course this year they're way more vocal about what they want, I'm assuming they can't do Hello Kitty, so I'm hoping I can get a giraffe themed one for her this year (she keeps asking if we'll see Hello Kitty at Disney...). I'm also hoping they can do a Cars one for my son. Can't wait :)

Just ordered the princess package at CRT for my daughter. She is going to be so excited in two weeks when she sees that Cinderella cake. We were going to do a Frozen themed cake because she is really into Elsa. She saw a picture of the Frozen cake on my phone though, and she said she didn't like it. :confused3 Oh well, she saved me some money. And I think the Cinderella cake will be just perfect.

They do have a bunch of Hello Kitty merchandise in the Japan Pavilion.

Hi,

I've called and left 2 messages for Pat Anderson at the Grand Floridian to order a custom cake and I still haven't gotten a call back, I'm approaching my 72-hour deadlines for the order and this is making me nervous.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions??

Thanks!

Can I draw what I have in mind and email it to the GF bakery for a mini cake?

Yes. You'll just need to talk to the Private Dining contact first to get the email address.

Would GF put a white choc castle on top of a mini cake for me?

It won't fit on the top tier of a 2-tier mini cake, but they can stick it on the plate next to the cake.

I've seen a few light up white choc castles. Does anyone know how much that costs?

It's not very much. I want to say $15...?

Could I ask for some choc covered strawberries on the plate with the cake (like, surrounding it) to help the dessert go a bit further?!

You can ask! Their availability varies by resort, but it seems like the GF of all places should have them.

Hi,

I've just ordered a custom mini cake (thanks to this thread!) for our upcoming trip. However, I've just received an email saying my cake has been ordered and is noted on our reservation, but I should mention it at the check in podium. Do I need to do this? It's a surprise for my OH so I don't want to ruin it by having to announce it there and then..?

Your best bet is to mention it to your server. Often they don't get the message. I usually get up and track them down where the party-to-be-surprised can't see me. :teeth:

I would still ask about Hello Kitty. You never know!

Call the main Private Dining hotline and explain what's going on. She may be on vacation: 1-407-824-2474.

Hi all! I too am trying to get a cake for my little girls birthday. It's our 1st trip and she will be turning 7. We are eating at CRT shortly after our BBB appt. on her actual birthday and I thought it would be awesome to surprise her with a cake . We are staying at POLY-CL and to my knowledge, they do not have a bakery on site. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I can't tell you how they look/taste because my trip isn't here yet, but we are doing a birthday cake at CRT as well. It's for my son, and I thought with all those princesses this might be the place to bring out his Buzz Lightyear cake... :) Anyway, I just emailed the Magic Kingdom cake email and they were amazing to work with. I wasn't doing anything special, but they were super helpful and answered all of my questions. We ended up getting an 8 inch white with white icing and chocolate filling, a Buzz Lightyear/Toy Story screen print. It is costing us $50.00. I'll be posting a picture when we get it - 11 days!!!

Just reading on here - do you think it's ok/normal that I don't have to pay until we are at the restaurant? I ordered through Magic Kingdom cakes and that's what the lady told me in the email. I hope that's ok! :)

Hey! I too had an extremely difficult time tracking Pat down - it was taking two weeks just to get some information from her. Anyway, she asked that I leave my email address on her voicemail and that she would email me. I spelled everything out "S as in Sam" etc. She got back to me pretty quick! Hope everything works out with your cake :)

And just in case, this is the number I reached her at 1(407)824-1951

Last year I didn't pay until after dinner and had ordered the cakes a month ahead of time.

Thanks! That's the number I've been leaving messages at. I'll try the e-mail too. Hopefully I can get a hold of her soon!

Hello, We just got back from celebrating my mom's 60th birthday (my b-day too, but we concentrated on her for all those years she took a back seat to my me).

She loves The queen of hearts. So we did a queen of hearts inspired cake. We stayed at The villas at the grand floridian and ordered through their private dining and had it delivered to the room. The cake was a 10 inch covered in fondant with yellow cake with white chocolate mousse and dark chocolate mousse. It was heaven.

The price was $160, but with delivery fee, tax, and gratuity, the total was $203.

Side note: Pat is hard to track down and I almost didn't make the cut off to get this request in. I am so glad I was able to get it though. It was perfect.

We have also had many other Mickey/Minnie Cakes delivered various places. Price around $65.

my son's 5th birthday. delivered to a restaurant at Saratoga springs. we took it to our treehouse.

I have been looking around for a cake for my daughter's 8th birthday in December. I am thinking frozen, but more inspired vs. actual character, maybe. Like a light blue cake with snow flakes on it or something. anyone seen anything like that. we will be at our home base of BLT. So, I know we will go through the contemporary custom cake people. any suggestions?

Just ordered a 6" choc with vanilla whipped cream cake to surprise my partner at our Teppan Edo ADR on Sept 29th

It will have Roger and Jessica Rabbit on the top, white with red accents for decorations and say "Our First Trip" on it

So excited only 28.00 !!! yayayayaya

Ours was really simple and done by the Boardwalk bakery, my daughter loved it!

I am in desperate need of help. I have been emailing back and forth with the Cake decorators for a week, and we still do not have the cake finalized. The first cake estimate I received was $116 for a standard 8" red velvet cake with decor like this, but with 2d ghosts instead of 3d as they said the figurine is no longer available:
6a0120a5924ef0970b0133f508f35f970b-pi

$116 is WAY more than I was hoping to spend, and I really dislike the idea of a flat image as opposed to the 3d. So I found a hitchhiking ghosts figurine and asked if they could just save a spot for me to place it on just before the cake is served. Reduced the size of the cake to a 6" and asked for just a gate on top as a backdrop and whatever decor they wanted around the cake. Estimate for this was $110! I don't understand how eliminating 2 toppers and reducing the size of the cake only saves $5.

Can anyone enlighten me? I was really hoping to keep this cake under $70 and looking at photos of others' cakes, I thought this would be no problem. Now I'm not so sure!

I spoke to the person who answered the cake hotline and she did not know exact pricing details but did say that cake flavors other than the white/chocolate/marble are extra, as well as the non-standard fillings. WHY can't they have a price list posted somewhere to make this process less confusing? It's getting down to the wire (the date is a little over a week away) and I feel more lost than ever!

Can anyone help?

I thought I'd give an update for anyone who cares to know or might find this information useful. I basically asked them to break down the cost of the cake, pricing each component. Here's what I asked for:

Haunted Mansion theme
Standard 8” size cake
Red velvet cake, cream cheese frosting filling
Outside of cake done in chocolate frosting
Placard on top of cake that says “Spooktacular 65th Birthday”
Empty space reserved for figurine that I will provide
(this is the figurine - it's a Christmas ornament that my Dad will get to keep to remind him of our trip and his birthday)

Brian responded with:
The price for this cake would be $91. This would be for the 8” red velvet cake, chocolate fondant and a 2D image of the haunted mansion on top with space for the figure and some black roses. The price breakdown for this is $40 for the cake $15 for custom cake and filling, $6 for fondant icing and $30 for Haunted Mansion Décor.

It was extremely helpful to know the cost breakdown. And Brian is always so nice! Once I got these details figured out, I went ahead and ordered the cake. It was more than I originally had in mind but my Mom said to go for it! LOL. FYI for someone who asked, you need a credit card to reserve the order, but you don't actually pay for the cake until you get it.

Now that it's all set, I feel so relieved! Now fingers crossed Brian is the one who gets to make it! He's so talented :worship: And if you see this, Hi, Brian! Thanks again for your help!

Can't wait to see it! We're hoping for a similar cake but different screen print or a smaller cake with just buttercream Mickey ears or something and wanted to stay at $50 or under, so i'm happy to see that it can be done!

For our upcoming trip, I was able to order gluten and dairy free cupcakes to be delivered for our meals at Crystal Palace, Whispering Canyon and The Wave. I was given the choices of vanilla or chocolate for the cake and the frosting. The cost is $4 per cupcake.

I contacted EPCOT and they will not make any special diets cupcakes. I was referred to Babycakes instead. My daughter is allergic to an ingredient in both their cake and frosting so we are out of luck for our dinners at Garden Grill & Biergarten :(

Hi!

So Pat finally called me back and I ended up going with a mini cake but now I'm nervous about it. I mean we're only 2 but I remember her saying it's only 3 inches which in retrospect to me seems TINY. I sent a picture of the haunted mansion cake from a few pages ago as a reference to what I wanted. I was disappointed that they won't do the painting of Master Gracey anymore or any 3D characters, she told me they are having many legal issues with images :(
I'm extremely nervous about what we're going to get and it cost me $60 + tax.
It's not like I can communicate with her about it because she seems unresponsive. I'm very skeptical and nervous, I don't think this is something I will be doing again, at least not through the Grand Floridian. The Contemporary seems much more reliable. I'm just surprised because I thought since it was the Grand Floridian, the service level would be at a higher standard but I guess I should reserve judgement until after we get the cake.

So I finally got all my cakes order for our 10th Anniversary trip. The Magic Kingdom folks and Chef Brian have been great

I will post pics when we get back but wanted to post pricing for others.

I did find out the mini castles are $15 each and a larger one is $100.

Here's what I am getting.

Surprising my hubby with a Jack Skellington themed 2 tier mini cake for our actual anniversary. We're going to be at LTT before Halloween party with some friends and my folks. That was $50. Chocolate cake with Peanut butter mousse.

For our Anniversary dinner that is going to be at the Cali grill we're going to have a 10 inch almond flavored cake with buttercream filling. It's going to have two mini castles on it. I sent them some photos of our wedding cake and one that i saw here to get some ideas on decoration and asked for a burgundy color trim frosting as that was our wedding color. $129.

Then for my birthday (yeah i know i am sad I order my own cake :)) i am getting a 6 inch for our BoG dinner. It's going to be pink and purple colors and just a plain vanilla cake with vanilla frosting which I am perfectly happy with. :) that was $23

Hope this helps others.
