So back from our wedding we had two celebration orders (in addition to the wedding cake we demolished between the 5 of us ....HAHA....it was AMAZING GOOD!)
So first up...the day after the wedding my parents treated us to a meal at the California Grill and we got a Cinderella Slipper dessert. It was lovely and exactly as ordered. Ordered through the Contemporary.

Next up was and order for my husband's birthday which was a few days after the wedding. Now this time...they didn't put any writing on the plate but I didn't say anything as we got a bonus strawberry and we had an AMAZING dinner at Artists point so I couldn't really complain. I ordered a monorail with strawberries.

Finally this was our wedding cake. Simple yes put perfect. The AMAZING flavours were Lemon cake with Passionfruit mousse for the Bottom tier. Almond cake with Almond crunch mousse in the top tier. I was so so happy with both combinations but especially the bottom tier.
And for the record... DISNEY Fondant is pretty awesome. I ate the whole thing happily on the first tasting and loved it. The buttercream is lovely too but I assure you whatever recipe Disney use it isn't your average fondant...

If I want to go for that yummy sounding chocolate and peanut butter combo (because I LOVE peanut butter), is this what I should ask for?
chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and peanut butter frosting (NOT filling) between the layers and peanut butter frosting under the fondant
You got it!
For future reference, fondant is the edible Play-doh-like covering that they adhere to the buttercream frosting on the outside of the cake in order to execute fancy designs. Ganache is usually like a rich chocolate glaze; Disney's has a fudgey consistency. "Filling" at Disney means a mousse-like substance, whereas "frosting" is the sugary buttercream you're used to getting on classic birthday cakes (homemade, supermarket). You can also ask for whipped cream frosting instead, which is lighter and more buttery, less sugary.
I went and ordered a generic Star Wars cake for our reservation at Cinderella's Royal Table. I asked them to write "May the 40th Be With You" around the serving platter. I'm hoping I'm happy with the way it looks. I posted previously I wasn't thrilled before how they didn't do as I asked for my daughter's first birthday cake. I never get to surprise my husband so I want this to go well. I bought some light saber decorations to put on it but I have no idea if I can sneak to a cast member to show me the cake so I can place them on there. Here's a picture of the inspiration photo I sent. View attachment 156541
The email I received from magic kingdom said the cast members were not allowed to put the decorations on for me. So I'll definitely try to get them to let me see the cake so I can do it. And if it doesn't work out then oh well.I had a cake for my sister's anniversary delivered at Flying Fish. They allowed me to give them the topper I'd bought and placed it on the cake for me but I've heard other people have been turned down. They should be able to bring the cake to you at say the podium so you can place them yourself then deliver it to the table if they won't place them for you.
Hi everyone...... I absolutely love this thread and have purchased many cakes from Disney in the past and have been thrilled with them. I've found the Beach Club has made the best so far.I have a question; my son and I will be celebrating his 11th birthday this year at Aulani and I'm wanting to purchase a cake for him. Could someone please point me in the right direction for ordering, cake options, pictures etc that are made at Aulani? Thanks so much for your time! April
trying to plan our wedding cake/dessert options for our wedding (reception at Ariel's at beach club), looking into alternatives to the normal 3 tier wedding cake because my fiance isnt a huge fan of cake. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on the cost effectiveness of assorted desserts for guests verse a wedding cake (65 guests). If its less expensive than a large wedding cake, I was thinking we could do a mini cake (so we can still have cake cutting ceremony) and then assorted desserts for everyone else.
