I read through the start of the thread but couldn't find the info. Can I order a cake for our dinner at Hoop De Doo?

Yes. Fort Wilderness is serviced by the Contemporary Resort. See post #2 for contact information.

All of this is to ask what is our best option for cake time and place. Probably not breakfast, but to have something at the room during our break, or at dinner, or even back at the hotel after dinner? Boardwalk bakery seems to get good reviews, what about dealing with Akershus? We're 4 adults and 2 kids, so probably a 6 inch cake, probably princessy. Open to suggestions. ..TIA!

I would order it for delivery during your midday break. Even if your schedule changes and you don't make it back to the room, it will be waiting for you and you won't have to schlep it around all day. If you do have it at Akershus, it will be made by Epcot's pastry team, which does a great job with fancy cakes.

Last Sunday we had dinmer at Kona Café with my ordered surprise cake.

First of all everyone in my party was very impressed by the Polynesian Resort. This is not one of my favourite resorts but after this evening I will finally give it a try someday.

We arrived at Kona Café and luckily my friends needed to use the restrooms so I could tell our server to keep the cake as a surprise for dessert.

Our meal was very good. One of our party had the lamb chops cooked medium-rare and they were PERFECTLY cooked! Everyone was very satisfied.

Then: the cake!!!
WOW, what a cake. Unfortunately I can not upload a picture now, but I have never seen a cake like this before.

I have dealt with Pat from the Grand Floridian and she and her team could not have make this cake any better. It was quite expensive with 95$ for 6" but well, one of my friends almost started crying, the other one was in shock by the surprise and I was so thankful for this piece of art they created.

I will upload a picture later!
When I will be at WDW again I will definetly order another cake!

I timed our dinner with Wishes. We arrived, went for dinner, took a ride on the monorail and then went to the beach for Wishes. It was a magical evening!

If I want a cake delivered to POR do I call Boardwalk? I want a little cake with almond/amaretto crunch similar to our wedding.

No, you must always call the place where the cake is being delivered. If you try to call BoardWalk Bakery directly, they will tell you they don't deliver cakes. The food and beverage contact at POR will take your order and submit it to BWB, then arrange for it to be delivered.

As promised: Here it is!
I wanted a 6" cake in a beach theme. We are going on a caribbean cruise on Sunday so I thought this themed cake would be a great way to start our vacation.

Pat realized exactly what was on my mind. I told her about my plans and gave her some keywords and she nailed it! I am so glad I ordered a cake.

The layers were made of red velvet and some kind of standard cream cheese filling. It was very tasty, but waaay too much for three persons. I was worrying that 6" are too small but the cake was huge.

As mentioned in my post above everyone was very impressed, even the folks sitting around us

Ok, I am back. The cake we had this year was not as good as last years. Paid over $100. Was slightly dry. They spelled my daughter's same WRONG, even though the communications were all done thru E-MAIL. And the cake frosting was smudged, but we have no idea who did it, since they "lost" our cake, and had several people searching for it for over 30 minutes! It WAS impressive looking, but I was NOT happy they misspelled my daughter's name, since it was in writing. How does that get messed up?! But here's the pic.

@Wonderwoman1982.... I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's cake and the problems you encountered. My oldest daughter's and my name are names that are frequently misspelled too so I understand your frustration.

The cake does look pretty.

I agree, sorry for the trouble you ran into. I do think think the cake is pretty, hope you daughter enjoyed it.

I'm sorry if this has been asked before but which bakery services the Polynesian Resort? Not sure if it would be The Contemporary or Grand Floridian? Would this bakery deliver things like chocolate covered strawberries to the Polynesian? Or just cakes?

Grand Floridian. And yes, they should be able to do strawberries, too.

Thank you Cluelyss! Do you happen to know if there is a private dining menu I could look at that would have those types of things on it? Or do I just have to call or email?

FYI- The Grand floridian contact, Pat, apparently has off on Sundays and Mondays. (not sure if that is all the time, but they implied it).

We will be a group of 6. DS has a bunch of allergies so I was going to order a 6 inch vegan cake then another cake. Would you get another 6 inch? I like those two tier cakes. Can more then 2 eat it?

I'd say a two-tier mini cake feeds a max of 3 adults. But two 6-inch cakes is going to be a LOT of cake for a group of 6. Still, then somebody gets cake for breakfast, so... win-win!

Ok that could work! We are 4 adults, 2 kids. People split dessert anyway. I imagine everyone will have part of the larger cake.

Just finalized our cake order for next weekend. We were going to do the dessert party, but spouse forgot to book time off from work. Thought I would just cancel and immediately re-book for just me and kiddo, but, they were already gone. Anyhow, ordered two cakes for in-room delivery at Pop Century, one a two tier mini-cake in Frozen colors with Mickey ears and the other a 6" Inside Out themed cake, printed image on top and frosted in what will hopefully be "disgust" green.. lol I'll post photos. Apparently they now have two approved images for Inside Out. I think I remember someone looking for one earlier in the thread.

Good evening everyone! I've ordered cakes at AKL before but am going with just two of us next month so had some questions.

I see the info on the first page and have known the limitations of cakes at AKL but think I've seen posts more in the past year that folks have had some better luck there of late.

Really just hoping to order a buttercream cake with a Minnie Mouse 2d screen print with tinted icing.

What is the smallest they would do?

And mini cakes still not an option there?

We will be at Kidani.

Thanks!

Lisa

Also I will attempt a picture but wanted to tell my experience with an offsite bakery this month to kidani for ds birthday. Sprinkles custom cakes did an awesome Star Wars cake. We had to move the celebration up two days and Richard accommodated it very last minute. Great experience!

When my husband ordered a cake through AKL last month, he was told that the smallest cake they will do is an 8-inch. They have apparently stopped doing 6-inch cakes.
