why do some MIL feel it is there right to treat there DIL's like crap. :confused3 Mine doesn't call names just snide remarks and comments and then talks to DH about me behind my back

WOW they don't want to go to WDW :sad2: 12 people , thats a lot of people to offer to take, how nice of you . :) You can take me ;) I wouldn't turn down a WDW trip.

:
My DH swears his mother is a very bitter person, so I try not to let affect me, she is like this with everyone. And she wonders why she is alone all the time  ...I hope your DH sets your MIL straight(or at least trys to keep away from her gossiping). I swear it is only really happy, secure MIL that don't complain about their DIL's. By any chance is your MIL divorced?

Come on- you can come to WDW with me...I am thinking about a Aug/Sept trip (besides the December and March trips) to take advantage of free dining. :cool1:

Alright Ladies, Since you all kind of know me...I have a pretty big birthday coming up in Feb(it ends in a 5...not a 0)...and I didn't do anything for my last milestone birthday since my twins were 3....so should I....

1) Go on a trip with a few close girlfriends for the weekend(we all scrapbook and shop together, we could go to NY and do a play...or I could even fly to WDW for WE with a friend or two)
2) Have a family(DH and boys) weekend somewhere (NYC, Boston or Mohonk House)
3) Small party at home and ask DH for a "really" nice gift...something that I have been waiting for, for 15+ years.

This March is also our 15th wedding anniversay(and I was not a child bride ;) ), DH does not want to do a vow renewal...so I am also at a loss there(and we leave for WDW 3 days later). I am thinking getting a sitter and a nice dinner(by that seems a little low key for a 15th anniversary).

Anyone have any suggestions?

No MIL and FIL are still married and happy together cause they are both nuts. She doesn't work and the only child left at home is 16 and she doesn't have a lot of close friends or hobbies. So she sits at home and feels lonely and sorry for herself. She told me that she had always thought her boys would get married and live close to her and thats what she wanted. Well DH and I live about 8 hours away and she HATES it with a passion. When we were first married she would call us and say "I found a place for you to rent just down the road from us." Then she would go around to the machine shops ( DH is trained to do metal working and machinery) and try to find him a job there so we would move there. And we NEVER asked her to do any of that. She has a major I-know-whats-best-for-you-whether-it-is-what-you-want-attitude. :furious: And I am very independent. That was rant enough, sorry to bore you. Sometimes I just need to talk about it to someone who can understand.

We also want to go and take advantage of the free dining in september. I am hoping to make it in 2007 but we will have to see how it goes with money and time off work. If you end up there in Sept 2007 maybe we could meet that would be nice. :)

So you have a birthday in February and an anniversary in March. WOW lots of gift potential ;) :teeth: I don't know which one I would opt for.....the girls only trip sounds like a lot of fun. What about a weekend away just you and DH is that a possibility or would you need to take the boys?

I would love to do DH and myself little mini weekend but 1) we have no family in a 5hr radius, and not many of their friends parents would be willing to take them for a sleep over since there are two. And I do not have a babysitter that could do overnight(she works) 2) DH is never off from work so he would have his lap top and trio so there would be no escaping...do you know how many waiter/ess have looked at me saying "is your DH going to be back soon? We can send your food back." I stopped eating out with him as a couple when he left me for a 1 hour plone call. :rolleyes1 (WDW is a horror as it is, but at least there are things for the kids to do...I'll take them to a show or a few rides while he gets a call, and we go to the pool in the afternoon and he might download all his work. He now has one of those trios so he answers calls/emails all the time.
Don't get me wrong(I'm not complaining-and there are many people like us-he's very good at what he does, and I am very lucky, but we have had to limit certain activities and have plans on what to do with the kids when he is with us.

Oh....that would make things tricky. I don't know what to tell you then.....I haven't had to deal with that kinda work situation before. I might ask for the nice dinner and gift and ask him to leave everything at home, no way for anyone to contact him for a couple of hours if that is doable. What does your DH do if you don't mind saying? Mine works in a machine shop so he gets forced to work overtime but no phone calls and such which is nice.
