Did anyone else see Marcia Cross on Regis & Kelly this morning? I had no idea she was pregnant in real life. I wonder how they will hide it!
I read an article on her pregnancy in People magazine and Mark Cherry (forgive me if I have his name wrong), the producer/director/whatever he does (I can't remember and I pitched the magazine y'day - maybe Cindy can help here) stated that Marcia's character will be wearing a lot of coats to hide it.

Oh, and by the way, the correct spelling is Mispronunciation. Aren't we supposed to rip apart people's threads?

wasn't Fisher George Clooney?

Fisher was the absuive boyfriend on Roseanne. I think Laurie Metcalf and the guy who played Fisher are married in real life.

I also hope Mike is not the one killed off, but I can't imagine who it could be. I guess Marcia Cross makes sense since she is pregnant with twins in real life. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I'm just glad last night's show seemed like they were getting back on track from Season 1.

My Dh and I thought it was funny that Orson and Bree weren't going to have sex before their wedding night, just like Trey and Charlette(Sorry Cindy if I spelled that wrong)...lol. This season is off to a great start. I am really glad I found this thread....I too was trying to remember why Orson ran over Mike....now I remember. Oh what happened to Bree's daughter?
I wonder if Charmay is going to stick around after the baby is born?

Was I right on the whole Orson/Mike thing w/losing a tooth during the fight w/Susan's ex? Or am I just dreaming things?!

I bet that Charmay is going to stick around and try to keep the baby for herself even though it's not biologically hers. Could make for an interesting story line. Maybe she'll kidnap the kid and take it back to Vietnam or South Korea or China or where ever she comes from (sorry, wasn't paying that much attention to Charmay's birth place).

Ooooh --- or, if Charmay was messing around w/Carlos, then she could be pregnant w/a twin that is biologically belongs to Carlos and her! I don't know how far along she was when they started messing around ... but haven't these things been known to happen!? Now, wouldn't that be quite the twist!?!?

BTW -- if you don't want to tick off Cindy, you'll go back and edit your post to read "Charlotte" instead of Charlette! But, it's really of no use since she'll find out anyway b/c it's in the above quote! ;)

Did Bree's daughter take off after the whole shooting of the Applewhite kid? I can't recall from last season. I'd think that if she were around, she would've been at Bree's engagement party. After all, Susan's daughter was there.

She wasn't mentioned at all?? :confused3 Kind of strange given her mother had an engagement party......can't wait to find out what happened with Andrew?? (she left him by the side of the road AND has yet to "answer" for running down Mama Solice!)

I just checked on IMBD and his name is Matt Roth, who did play Fisher on Roseanne, though I didn't recognize him from his picture.

This is hilarious! While correcting Christmas Elf on the correct spelling of Charmay/Xiao-Mei YOU misspelled or mistyped her name wrong: Xiou me, Xiou Me, Xiou Mei EIGHT TIMES! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
I actually had to go to the IMDB to make sure you got the correct spelling of Xiao-Mei in telling us what the correct spelling was. :rotfl:

Cindy B said:
Charmay= Xiou me or something like that. If you saying it in English, it would be Charmin, or Charmain and that does not sound like her name.

The nosy busybody in the recap was the same person that babysat Lynnette kids when Bree was an alcoholic. That is different from the character from Lakeview Drive (Laurie Metcalf)

The first one is Wisteria Drive-- she played Ms. Langingham in West Wing.

Did you even mention that Gaby and Carlos go to Chinatown area and look for Xiou Me? Who knew that the Wisteria Lane town had a Chinatown? Anyway, they go to Chinatown and Gaby goes to a specific restaurant. Gaby then asks a waitress/owner about Xiou Me. The waitress/owner who is holding a tray of food states that she talked to Xiou Me and that Xiou Me stated that Gaby threatened her with deportation. (Gaby did). Gaby tried to weasel her way out of that but Carlos looked shocked. There was a verbal exchange between waitress/owner and Gaby. Gaby eventually stated that she could call the health dept to have them look at the restaurant. The next shot you see is Gaby and Carlos leaving the restaurant and Gaby has a lot of food on her shirt. (implied that the waitress/owner threw the tray at Gaby)

Also when Edie was showing the Young house to two impeccable men, (which would be a fantastic storyline, BTW) she is talking about storage in the house. Edie opens up the closet and find Xiou Me there eating sandwiches.

On of the few last scenes shows Gaby and Xiou Me back in the house with Gaby waiting on her.

Just for clarification, I went to imdb.com to find out how to spell Xiou Me's name correctly. I went to Gwendolyn Yeo's bio (the person who plays the Xiou Me character) and this is how the character was spelled..... Xiao-Mei

Xiao-Mei is the correct spelling. Most boards I frequent just abbreviate is a XM.
I noticed, "Last edited by Cindy B : Today at 06:37 AM," so you edited & still missed all your typos! No wonder I couldn't figure out who you were talking about in your post. :rotfl2:

If it were my name, I'd be offended by the absoluete butchering of Charmaine instead of Xiou-Mei.
BTW, I hate to be such a stickler :rolleyes1 BUT, "absoluete' is spelled: absolute.
And you'd only pronounce Xiao-Mei as Shar-May (Charmay) if you lived & only stayed in Beijing. If you travel outside of Beijing, anyone in mainland China reading the Pinyin spelling would pronounce it Show-May. Your name would be butchered all the time once you left Beijing. :rotfl2: Only in Beijing, with the Beijing accent, do they speak the "R" sound. Of course you already know that. Just like the pronunciation of "shi" in Beijing is pronounced "Shur" while the rest of mainland China pronounce it sounding like "She."
Lest you think I don't know how to pronounce Pinyin writing, here is my old thread, predated before this post:
Can anyone translate Mandarin into Pinyin for me?

Also, isn't the proper pronunciation for the spelling Gaby: Gaybee? In proper, non-lazy English, in order for it to be pronounced with a short "a" sound, Gab-bee, there needs to be a second "B" to split the syllable, which is the way the many of us spell her name: Gabby.

Ok, I will pick apart..

1) Its not a misspelling of a characters name its a misproununciation.
I will use the Charlie/Shirley analogy YET AGAIN. If you were named Charlie/you sure wouldn't want to be called Shirley. The ch sounds in Charlie would be similiar to Charmaine, and Shirley (well not really close to the shou sound by the Xiou, but its sounds similiar.. we don't have an English equivalent letter wise to the shou sound)

Charmaine sounds nothing like Xiou Mei.. at least if you are saying Xiou Mei correctly. Even if you somewhat butcher it my pronouncing it Chow-may, it still doesn't sound like Charmaine.

She did not note the health dept. reference, and it wasn't moo shu pork either. Moo shu doesn't have an orange stain which reflected on the yellow shirt of Gaby. Mooshu would have more a brown stain... that s just a continuity error with the show, not the recap. I'm sure orange looked better than a brown stain on the yellow blouse.

So, its two different issues.. mispronounciation instead of misspelling... it took me a few times to get Xiou-Mei correct. At least make the effort to make it correct.. please!
Okay, well, since you don't mind correcting me, then I am sure you won't mind if I correct you on a couple of things, right?

1. You left the apostrophe out of it's in your very first sentence correcting me for using misspelling instead of mispronunciation. It's is a contraction which is why you need the apostrophe.

2. You typed mispronounciation. You actually did it more than once, which leads me to believe it is not just a typo. The correct spelling would actually be mispronunciation.

3. You misspelled similar a couple of times. It should be similar, not similiar.

4. You misspelled the maid's name numerous times. You spelled it Xiou Mei. The correct spelling would actually be Xiao-Mei. I looked it up just to see if you had it spelled correctly since it is such a sore spot with you. Imagine my surprise when I discovered you not only misspelled it, you did so numerous times. I believe it takes away from your argument if you don't even have it spelled correctly yourself.

5. I disagree with you on the whole misspelling vs. mispronunciation thing. Pronunciation has to do with actually speaking and pronouncing a name. You did not hear anyone on this thread say her name. You only saw it spelled. For all you know, everybody is pronouncing it 100% correctly, which would mean it is simply a misspelling of a name.

6. People often mispronounce and/or misspell my name. It's really not as big a deal as you are making it out to be IMO. I will casually correct them if I feel it should be corrected. I am never overbearing about it. The difference between someone misspelling/mispronouncing my name is that it happens in real life. Desperate Housewives and all of the characters are fictional.

7. Last but not least, who really cares whether the health dept. reference was mentioned? It was not the most important line in the show or anything. Who really cares what was thrown on Gabby? Gabby herself called it Mu Shu Pork which is more than likely where Christmas Elf came up with that theory.

I'm sorry. I only intended to correct a couple of points but I discovered more as I went along. ;)

Now I type very fast and I normally don't use spell-check (guess I'm lazy that way!) so I am sure you can find a mistake or two in my post. You are welcome to keep pointing it out. You should know, however, that I also catch mistakes (although I don't point any out unless provoked) and for every mistake you see in my post I am likely to notice just as many (possibly more) in yours. You obviously don't like it when people point out your mistakes so maybe it's time to get over it and call a truce. That sounds like a good idea to me. This is a thread about a fictional television show. Your energy would be better spent discussing the entertainment aspects of it. Although I commend you for caring so much about grammar and spelling and pronunciation, (I do too btw. I just don't let things like that bother me so much on a discussion board.) I do think that this is the wrong thread for it. Now take a deep breath and feel free to discuss the actual plot with us and we will probably all forget about this whole nasty thing. Ironically enough, I have a medical terminology test to study for now. We have to make sure we can pronounce and spell medical terms correctly as well as know what it means (which I can in case you are wondering)! :rotfl: Have a great night! :)

I think Danielle was at Bree's engagement party, wasn't she? I remember seeing her!

I am excited about the new season. I have to admit, season 2 was a bit of a downer for me, everything was just so predictable! I am excited to see what is going to happen with Gabi's baby!

Maybe you can mind your own business. I'm correcting the errors in the recap. I can also point out errors in other posts. I can see so many errors in syntax, verb tense agreement and just poor sentence structure. If I had to correct everyones post, I would never be able to get anything done.

I'm just saying that there was an error and gave instruction. If no one can handle the correct way to spell it, I will continue to correct it.

You will see the posts until it is correct. I've pointed out the correct spelling and pronunciation many times.

Excuse me, but I have just returned home and just now have been reading the responses.

I just have to say, I have never seen someone pick something so trivial apart in my life as much as you do CindyB.
First, I would like to point out there is NO, NONE, ZILCH, MISTAKES anywhere in that re cap.
If you would take the time to go and rewatch the show you will hear very clearly that Gabrielle pronounces the maids name differently at least 3 times in that episode alone.
When Gaby would say the maids name, she would say CHARMAY. That is what I typed. Who really cares how it's spelled?

It's a TV show, NOT a BIRTH CERTIFICATE!!! :teeth:
And for what it's worth, point out any other spelling errors in that post. You won't be able to as there are none, as I am the first to complain about spelling errors.

Ya know what? I just type up the recaps to be nice. I will continue to do the recaps for that reason.
I will also continue to spell the maids name however I happen to feel like typing it at 1:02 in the morning when I could be sleeping instead.

You might be thinking of Julie, Susan's daughter. She was there, but Danielle was not.

I don't know if this was done on purpose or not, but this made me laugh. When Kyle McLaughlin (Orson) was on Sex and the City his character said "alrighty then" a lot. :rotfl:

Christmas Elf, please PLEASE keep typing Charmaine. I triple dog dare you!!!! :stir: :rotfl2:

Well, I do like living on the edge! I will take that dare! :lmao:

I actually didn't know who she was talking about at first... It has to be done correctly. Many characters come and go... and I like things correct!

I'm just saying that is isn't correct. All it takes is to write the correct name. It doesn't take much to do.

I will keep pointing out the error until it is done correctly. With a show with so many recurring and constant characters, it really doesn't take much to do one name correctly.

She asked if she forgot or didn't add anything. I pointed out one blatant error (the mispronunciation) and some small errors--mu shu vs. what was actually thrown. Again a continuity error, not a recap error. I found that was a production error not a recap.

If she doesn't want direction or errors pointed out, she shouldn't put that line in there. I'm willing to point out errors when I see them (and others have to) until it is done correctly.

It is a big deal. Do things correctly. Give the credit where it is due.

I somehow missed this little doozy.

WHERE or WHEN did I ask if I forgot anything?
The Mu Shu Pork was what Gabrielle called it when she was talking to the Chinese waitress.
What was the point in mentioning the fact that Carlos and Gaby went to Chinatown? They were in a Chinese restaurant which is what I stated.
Okay. I am now officially done correcting all your posts. :teeth:

Everyone else, Thanks for all the support!! I will see you all next week!!!

I gues others don't care about correctness.

I don't need an 8 point sermon on obvious mistakes. I mentioned the health dept. and the misspelling or mispronunciation.

If you say Charmaine, that is not what Eva Longoria says, she says the correct Chinese name, not Charmaine.

If you look at closed caption, it is spelled correctly. It is spelled with the X.

If you look at IMBD.com, it is spelled correctly

If you look at TWOP, or any credible TV forum, it is spelled correctly.

If you look at Gwendolyn Yeo's bio, it is spelled correctly.

These were two major things that weren't done correctly, and needed to be. If the OP recapper doesn't want corrrections, she shouldn't ask for them.

The health dept. reference was important because it showed why Eva Longoria had food on her blouse. If she didn't make that comment, she wouldn't have had a ruined shirt.

Again, continuity made the sauce an "incorrect" color. My DH and I both noticed that!

If the OP doesn't want helpful suggestions, she shouldn't ask for them. I point it out, and if she doesn't want to do things correctly, thats on her.

I will still correct it until its correct. Yes, its a fictional name/character, but its the idea of doing something correctly.

Marcia Cross was on Conan last night. She stated her pregnancy will not be written in because another female character will be pregnant.

Conan asked her if they will spend her whole pregnancy with different camera shots and boxes in front of her. She said there will be many shots of her from the top of the fridge.

It's a freaking message board we're talking about here, not College Writing 506. Get a grip. I'm here to have fun, not be corrected at every turn w/re. to my grammar, syntax, et. al.

If you're so offended why don't you start your own grammar/syntax correct DH thread and, after you correct everyone who pops in, just see how quick it dies.

Stating Chinatown is important because of the discussion prior with Gaby and XM.

They began arguing about the deportation issue and then XM states "What about my apartment in Chinatown that you are giving me?"

With that line, it makes sense that the setting is Chinatown, not just some sterilized strip mall Chinese restaurant. Watchers can note that it is Chinatown because of the hanging pig carcasses, outside vendors and such. Have you even been to an actual Chinatown?

At least in Philadelphia and NY, that is how it looks somewhat. Of course, there are more sidewalk vendors, the "massage" parlors, and video stores in the actual Chinatown.

We can talk about accuracy. That setting is important because it is not just a suburban Chinese restaurant. I'm sure you will find XM at the faux Chinatown more.
