If they do kill off a member of Lynette's family, I'm going to guess that it's Tom's "Love Child" that they are raising. It would clean up that little peace of the story very neatly.

Where were all the older kids from the other families? Or did I miss something?

Andrew has moved out to his own place, Susan's and Katherine's daughters are on a school trip, it was referred to in a phone conversation with Katherine.

Andrew has moved out to his own place, Susan's and Katherine's daughters are on a school trip, it was referred to in a phone conversation with Katherine.

What about Bree's daughter?

Okay. Here is the recap!

They showed us the recaps of the previous episode; Mrs McClutsky had had enough of Lynettes kids and showed up at the restaurant to tell Lynette this.
That crazy ex-patient of Adam's showed up at his door. Her name is Sylvia and she wants the truth about them to come out.
Mike was taking pills out of his glove box.
Carlos and Gabby were nervous about Victor and pushing him from the boat.

Okay, so tonight starts with Mary Alice narrating that it was supposed to be a beautiful day. The neighborhood looks a little windy and deserted. Wind picks up and starts to take out a mailbox. We see a funnel cloud and a tree branch land on the street. A little doll starts blowing down the street.

Earlier in the day, Gabby is outside telling Lynette, Susan and Bree that her and Carlos are leaving town. The girls are surprised and ask Gabby to repeat what she said. Gabby goes on to say that Edie had told Victor about Carlos and Gabby cheating on him. They all are hugging and upset with the news that Gabby is leaving town when Mrs McClutsky drives by and says "Have you heard the news"? There is a tornado that has touched down in Mt Pleasant and that they had all better get inside and get ready" She drives away.

The narrator says that in 4 short hours 1 of these women would lose a husband and they would all lose a friend. But how could they have known this, as it was supposed to be a Beautiful day.

By noon everyone was getting braced for the bad weather. Gabby was packing while listening to the news. Carlos comes in and tells Gabby that he is running to the bank to get his passport. He tells Gabby to watch for his accountant as he is bringing important papers over and she needs to get them from him. He then says that he should go talk to Edie and that he feels a little guilty. Gabby tells Carlos that Edie is a coniving skank and that she is the one that told Victor about the affair and that Carlos shouldn't say her name again and to forget Edie. :happytv:

Lynette shows up over at Mrs McClutskys. Seems she wants to know if her kids and Tom can all come hang out in her basement when the tornado hits. At first Mrs McClutsky says no and that her friend Ida will be coming by to play cards and wait out the storm in the basement and that Lynettes kids are too loud and rambunctious. Lynette persists though and finally Mrs McClutsky agrees.

Katherine is taping up her window and talking to Dylan on the phone. She is telling Dylan that she should stay on the class trip with Julie and that she would take care of checking on Susan for Julie and that she would be fine. Katherine then notices Sylvia outside in a parked car and runs Dylan off the phone. Katherine goes outside and confronts Sylvia. She threatens to call the police. Sylvia tells Katherine that she was over at the house yesterday.

Bree shows up at Susan with a bag of storm supplies. Susan tells Bree that she thinks it would be okay to tell Orson about Mikes drug problem. Bree says that she had already told Orson which startles Susan as she had found the Rx bottle with Orsons name on it as the prescribing Dr. She doesn't share this with Bree though. Bree was saying that she was worried that Mike would go to Orson for pills.

Cut back to Katherine who is now having words with Sylvia and has now spit in Sylvias face. Bree sees this and asks Katherine if she is alright. Katherine says a smart alecky comment to Bree (something like of course you saw what happened) and storms off. So Bree goes over to Sylvia who is now back in the car and asks her in for a cup of tea.

While having tea with Sylvia, Bree finds out about the affair that Sylvia claims to have had with Adam. Bree wants to know why Katherine would treat Sylvia that way. Sylvia claims that she and Adam are in love. She tells about how she was an old patient and goes on to describe a tatoo that Adam has of a snake on his shoulder and that she licked it. Bree gets nervous when Sylvia starts yelling and wants her to leave. Sylvia runs and locks herself in Brees bathroom and won't come out unless Bree gets Adam. Bree runs to retrieve adam.

Susan shows up at Orsons dentist office where he is drilling a patients mouth. She runs on about Mike and why did he write a Rx to Mike when he is a drug addict. She finally leaves after telling Orson that if he even gives Mike a breath mint she will inflict pain on him!

A neighbor boy shows up at Edies trying to sell her bottled water. Edie tells the kid that he should try to sell it to Gabby when the kid tells her about Gabby and Carlos packing to leave town. Edie is surprised.

Mike goes to his truck and discovers the pill bottle is empty. There is a note telling him to see Susan. Mike and Susan get into it about the pills. Susan is carrying blankets and heads towards the stairs while fighting with Mike. He goes to grab her arm and Susan loses her footing and falls down a flight of stairs. Mike flies down after her and they cut to commercial.

Mike and Susan show up at the hospital where they are forced to wait as they are really busy.

Katherine and Adam are also fighting. About Sylvia. Bree shows up and wants to borrow Adam as she has a situation on her hands. The 3 of them head over to Brees where Adam tries to get Sylvia out of the bathroom. When Sylvia discovers that Katherine is also there, she refuses to come out of the bathroom.
Bree drags Katherine away where Katherine tells Bree that Adam never had an affair with Sylvia and the she is dillusional but that Adam had given Sylvia a little kiss that she misinterpreted. They settled out of court a sexual harrasment suit and in turn had lost everything they had and that is why they left Chicago. Bree then tells Katherine that for what it's worth, she would have spit in Sylvias face too. This seems to please Katherine.

Ida and Karen are in McClutskys basement playing cards when Tom and Lynette and their brrod arrive. When Tom's asthmas starts acting up, it is discovered that Ida's cat is also there. Lynette wants the cat to go upstairs that it is an animal and that her husband is a human which is more important and the cat needs to go. Karen says the cat can stay. Lynette retaliates by allowing Penny to bang a spoon on the pipes and water heater and making all kinds of noise.

Back at the hospital, Mike starts fighting with an intern about Susan not getting seen. WQhen he ends up punching the intern, Mike ends up in handcuffs in the waiting room. Susan gets seen and comes out and tells Mike that the baby is fine. A nurse comes out and gives her a sample of pain pills. Mike wants the pills that were given to Susan for himself. Susan gets mad and demands that Mike go to rehab or she will take the baby and leave him. He reluctantly agrees and they are seen limping from the hospital.

The Accountant of Carlos shows up and mistakes Edie for Gabrielle. He ends up giving the papers to Edie telling her that the papers are very important and not to lose them as they are the Caymen Island papers that lead to all thye money. Gabrielle sees that the acdcountant is pulling away and yells out the window to Edie.

Meantime, Tom is suddenly in severe asthma distress. Lynette sees that Ida and Karen have both fallen asleep and takes the cat away.

Edie is looking through the papers. Gabby tries to get in and ends up smashing her way through a window.

Karen wakes up and catches Lynette upstairs with the cat. They have a discussion on how Mc Clutsky feels that Lynette is just using her. The cat escapes out the blown open door and the two women go outside in search of the animal.
Back at Edies, Gabby and Eide are fighting over the papers. Edie tries to bargain with Gabby on the papers and wants a cut of 60%. Gabby dives over the couch ans attacks Edie and grabs the papers and heads for the door where they fight out there in all the wind. The papers end up blowing away and when they see a funnel cloud, they run back to the house.

Lynette and Karen continue searching for the cat and they too see the funnel cloud.

Edie and Gabby end up in a crawl space under the house.
Sylvia is still barricaded in Brees bathroom when Orson gets home and announces the storm is really close. The 4 of them all head into a closet in Brees hallway along with the baby Benjamin.

Edie and Gabby start to have a heart to heart. Gabby apologizes for her and Carlos,m Edie cuts her off and tells Gabby to shut up and that she hates her, which she ends up taking back and that she was just hurt by Carlos. They embrace, nervous about the storm.

Bree and Katherine are bickering. Adam and Katherine and Bree are talking about Sylvia when Bree mentioned the tatoo that Sylvia mentioned. This makes Katherine realize that the affair must have been true and that the tatoo had been removed. Katherine is not pleased. She realizes that the affair had to have happened. Bree reaches out and holds Katherines hand.

Carlos runs in the door looking for Gabby when he turns and sees Victor sitting at a desk with a gun. Carlos asks where Gabby is and Victor states that he thought she was with Carlos. Carlos starts to talk to Victor telling him that he and Gabby are 2 parts of the same person and that they are sorry they hurt him (Victor)
Victor aims the gun at Carlos but misses. Carlos runs out the door where Victor goes after him. They scuffle and roll around the yard. A car falls from the skies narrowly missing them. Victor ends up getting impaled by a fence post. Carlos sees this and as he is turning to go back in the house, debris hits him, knocking him out.

Sylvia has now emerged from Brees bathroom yelling for Adam and says that she wants to tell everyone exactly what happened. She then opens the front door and says "Okay, you have made your choice, here I go" and backs up only to sucked out the door. :rolleyes1

Meantime, Edie and Gabby are still huddled in that crawl ,space under the house.
We then see Karen and Lynette huddled under a mattress in the bathtub. Windows are breaking and tree limbs are barrelling through houses.
Finally, the wind dies down and the sun came out.
Gabby and Edie emerge from the space, Bree and Orson and Katherine and Adam stand in Brees former living room where a big gaping hole is in the roof.
Lynette and Karen are climbing through what is left of Lynettes house, remains of households are everywhere.
Lynette heads outside and screams when she sees that Karen McClutskys house has been totally demolished. :scared1: She is now screaming "Oh my God" and calling out to Tom.
The street is a disaster half the houses are destroyed. They pan the street and it looks like several houses on the end of the street are still standing. The show ends with no future episodes being previewed.

Great recap Elf:thumbsup2

I thought last night was a great episode. Too bad we'll have to wait to see what happens, if we ever get to see what happens (I suppose the strike could last so long, people may quit)

When Lynette screamed no, it actually made me get a lump in my throat. The thought of losing your whole family is horrifying. Great acting:thumbsup2

My friends and I were discussing what happened to Toby. I think Lynnette was horrible for what she did with Toby, I guess thats why she is one of my least favorites. I agree with the PP that said they wished Toby would jump out of a tree and scratch her.

We'll definatly get to see at least one more episode. Think of it this way though, even if there was no strike we'd probably have to wait at least a month for the next episode since they never show new episodes in December.

I do wonder what the reasoning is behind destroying all the homes though. If the show was looking for an ending, then I could understand it. Maybe Mark Cherry has run out of ideas and this was a good way to do it, even though it left us hanging.
Maybe the tornado incident was supposed to be a 2 parter, and the show was supposed to come back and tie it all up and then it would end.

The strike hit, and they needed to air what was already in the can, so they just said "Oh well, too bad"

Me too, it took me a little while to stop feeling a horrible feeling after watching Lynette scream.

I was wondering this too. How are they going to have a new show with no houses?

This show is so great...my soap opera needs to take a few lessons from Desperate Housewives.

I read someplace that it was suppoed to be a two parter, and the writers strike came after they ahd finished the first part, but not the second. So it looks like we'll have to wait.

There are so many loose ends though... ACK!

One thing I haven't figured out--after Lynette and Mrs. M left the house to get the cat, they saw the twister coming. They had the time to drag a mattress into a bathroom and get into the tub, why didn't they go back into the basement? They weren't any further from that. Or did I miss something else? I was multi-tasking... and obviously not very well.

Only the one house destroyed though, right? In the closing shot most of the houses are still standing, some are damaged. It's no different then when Susan's house burnt down--wasn't that Edie's doing?

Whose house DID they go into?? :scratchin Lynette's? :confused3

Me too, it took me a little while to stop feeling a horrible feeling after watching Lynette scream.

I haven't even watched yet (I know, I'm such a cheater for reading! ;) ) but I had to comment on this (and others about this situation). I just told my husband yesterday that, even without the context of the show, that scream of Lynette's literally makes me choke up and get goose bumps just from the previews. I can't imagine how intense it is during the episode!

They were headed back for the basement, but a grill flew in their way, so instead they ran into Lynette's house.

It was just McKluskey's house that was destroyed, the other's are damaged but fine. The biggest damage, I think, is the hole in Bree's roof.

Will it be on next Sunday or what's going on?
