*~~Official December 2016 Thread~~*

I too have heard about the new Pokemon mobile game. And when I figured out the premise, 1 of the 1st things I thought of was:

"Hunh... If Pokemon tries to hide some of the beacons at WDW, I wonder if Disney gets their cut? And if not, I wonder if, as soon as you find the Pokemon, either Stitch or a Disney villain comes along and just beats the Hell out of the Pokemon.?"

But seriously, I think this game is someone-walking-into-traffic waiting to happen.

On the lighter side, Hallmark released this year's ornaments over the weekend. BDLsgal and I have been getting them for years. We're not collectors, per se, but rather just get the ones that we think are cool and always get that year's Tinker Bell for BDLsgal's mom.

PARTY OF 11 checking in!!!
12/28-1/3/17
5 of us staying at AKL-Kidani
6 of us staying at AoA

2nd visit during the holidays - 1st was 10 years ago as a "Grand Gathering" of 14. This will be our first visit as DVC members as well. CAN NOT WAIT! ADR's are done, now I stalk the FP+ clock.... o_O

oh - and it's my niece and nephew's VERY first trip to Disney - so that's even more exciting. They have no idea! It's a Christmas gift from their mom and dad.

We made a slight adjustment to our plans. We are now checking in Dec 10th for 1 night at AKL. Then we will move over to Pop from Dec 11 – Dec 17th.

Every year I buy each one of my kids an ornament that represents something for that year. So far, I've always bought Hallmark ones. I like to write a note on the box they come in so it works perfectly. I ordered the Cinderella castle with the fireworks yesterday. I missed out on the Mickey and Minnie in the teacups though. I thought that would be cute. I want to get my son a Star Wars one but they don't come out until October. What did you guys get?

That's cute. I always get a year ornament for our family, but maybe I'll start getting the kids their own. They'd like that.

Hi everyone,
I saw this on another thread, and I wanted to share it here since I've seen lots of posts about HS. Who knows if they'll continue this on into Dec. but I thought it was interesting :)

I can see this being a draw for offsite guests for sure. If they opened up Rockin' Rollercoaster in addition to Star Tours and Toy Story, I bet it would draw a LOT of people on and offsite. The character meets for Buzz and Woody would be a huge time saver, because I've never seen the lines below 40 minutes (we usually go in summer).
We really enjoy HS, and I think this would be something we'd do. Now, if they did one at Epcot and opened up Soarin', Test Track, and the character meets? I think that would be really successful.

Party of 5 checking in! We are booked for 12/15-12/19 for DD's 21st birthday. She had her choice of Las Vegas, NYC or WDW and she chose WDW. :) We're staying Beach Club Villas. Very excited for this trip-I've booked our ADR's and just waiting for 60 day mark for FP+.

Just noticed galactic spectacular dessert party at HS has opened up through 9/5...will continue my obsessive checking until I see December, LOL!!

Anyone for online check-in? Did it on our last trip this April, received a text at 130pm with room # and map to room. was pretty easy and seamless. Will do it again in 85 days!

I plan on using online check in. Is it a pretty simple process?

Very simple- make sure your profile has CC info ETC- you get to pick a few things like check in earlier-(overrides any room requests-if available) some other choices like what location, floor and small details.

I did it last year without any problems. It will give you options to choose for your requests. You can choose early check-in, balcony, etc. I asked for a room at BC with true balcony instead of juliet balcony. When we got off the magic express there was a CM waiting to finish our check in process. Our room was ready. We went to the room and our luggage arrive about 20-30min later.

We've always used it, but we've never gotten a room ready text or anything, which was particularly frustrating last year when we got in after midnight and had to wait forever at the desk for someone to help us. We usually call in requests when we add on a discount or something, but still add room location requests to our online check in, like floor preference.

It's something I'll always do, even if only because it's something fun to do at the 60 mark that makes the trip seem closer!!

So far I've done it twice- but did early check-in preference, worked great and got a text (earlier than check-in time) . I have seen a few articles, posts, blogs etc-that earlier the arrival time the better. Just passing on what I read, no data to support it.

Yeah...we've checked in at different times of the day and selected early check in when we'd be arriving before "official" check in time, and no text, lol. It just hates me. BUT we've always gotten our room request though, even when we got in so late last year.

I'm curious to see what's going to happen this time, if anything. When DH called to add another day and book with our UOC and take off free dining, the woman asked the usual "is anyone celebrating", to which he replied, "no, we usually go in summer and all of us have had our birthdays there except my wife", she said she was going to note that on our reservation. After more chit chat, it came up that we would be in Disneyland during ADR day, and she said she was going to note that, too.
It'll probably end up like last year...I'll get an "i'm celebrating" button, and the CM will make me write "not my birthday" on it or something, LOL! Last year on DH's bday, while waiting for Illuminations, a CM came over and was talking to us while he was cleaning the area. He noticed that I was the only one not wearing a birthday button, so he gave me an "I'm celebrating" button and made me write "everyone else's birthday" on it. Thanks, dude. Like it wasn't enough of a knife in the heart already, LOL!!!
