pixiedust:

YAY! Welcome to the big list! Have a fantastic time!

Can I join in?! I haven't been on the DIS much lately since I am currently wrapping up my first year teaching first grade. My dad, sisters, and I will be going to Disneyland in December! Dates are 12/28-1/3/15. Dad and I have not been since 2007, my one sister hasn't been since 2005, and my other sister has never been there! But we are Disney World pros. :) No resort booked yet, though we will probably do one of the Good Neighbor hotels. We're also planning on going to the Rose Parade on New Year's Day! So excited to finally be heading back to Disneyland! :wizard:

Can anyone tell me if Disneyland resort hotels get discounted fairly predictably like WDW? We're going the first week of December and I'm considering switching hotels if we can get a discount that week, probably to PPH. Anyone with any input on previous years they got a discount during that time of year, your input would be appreciated. I'm so excited for our trip! 6 more months :)

It's not predictable like at WDW. You can consider upgrading one of your group members to an AP for that discount.

Or you can just watch for a special through a place like cheaptickets.com like I did last year. I had an email from them in the last few days offering 25% off. That includes weekends too.

Add us to the December Disneyland crew -- 12/7 - 12/13 at GCV. Love the Christmas decorations and all festivities. Counting the days.

Jenna-

I go to DLR every year in December and I am always watching out for discounts. I have used PIN code discounts and AP discounts. I have posted info about hotel discounts in two or three separate threads recently, as the subject is coming up a lot.

Today, I just commented on hotel discounts in the Christmas/Holiday Superthread today -- Here (see second paragraph).

And I also talked about holiday hotel discounts in this other post/thread -- Here.

There are usually discounts of some sort (via the DLR website, or via emails, PIN codes, AP website, etc.) that come out every year, for the Fall months, with the exception of 2012 (when Cars Land and Buena Vista Street opened). The discounts -- depending on whether they are for AP holders or for the general public -- will differ, and they may only cover certain weeks in October, November and December, but they usually cover my time frame (which is early December).

Make sure you are signed up on the Disneyland Resort website to receive newsletters and offers. Then, plug in your trip dates (even approximate dates are fine) in the hotels section of the DLR website, as though you are pricing the hotels. Save that offer in your account. Saving the offer will sometimes get you an eventual email with a PIN code or hotel discount offer from Disney Destinations.

Sherry, you are a woman after my own heart. I have already priced out resort vacations on Disneyland's website, saved the offer, and I'm signed up for so many Disney mailing lists they're coming out my ears. Disney Movie Rewards, Movie Club, Parks Blog, and the list goes on ;p If I'm going to get randomly chosen for a discount for being on a mailing list, I'm probably on it already lol. But good to know I'm doing things right. I feel reassured there's a good chance we could see a discount by fall, still plenty of time to save and plan.

My first trip to DLR as an adult included my mother in law, she did the majority of the planning as far as hotels, tickets, etc She is....let's say, fairly eccentric. She really likes to save a penny if you catch my meaning, so planning anything extra or luxurious was not going to happen. I've planned several trips to WDW and USO/IOA with great success but I'm pretty lost with DL still. I really appreciate this board and how friendly and helpful everyone is. Reminds me of being in the park actually, everyone is just nicer ;)

Please do join in!! :goodvibes I hope you're having a great first teaching year! I have a cousin who will be starting as a kindergarten teacher in the Fall. He's so excited! We're all gathering books for his classroom.

I'll put you down in a GN hotel. Please let us know when you settle on a location so I can update the list. Have a wonderful trip!

Welcome! It's a fantastic time to be in the parks. Have a great trip!

We're official. Okay, we have been for awhile. Just haven't had the time to think and be excited about it. But now we are and DSIL's family and probably the DFIL and DMIL are coming too!

So, we will be at Desert Inn Dec 2-6 with bells on! 'Cause it's Christmas, get it?!:lmao:

YAY!! I wish I could be there when you are to 'hear the bells'! :rotfl:Bringing the family along can be so fun! We took my mom in 2012, and it was one of the best holiday trips we've ever had. Enjoy!

Happy Dance tonight :cool1:

Our car repairs were LESS than I budgeted. That means I moved some cash from the car expenses over to the DISNEYLAND expenses. I put cash into an envelope (and sealed it) and that means our Discover the Magic Tour and Gas money have been fully funded. Our food budget has also grown by another hundred dollars as well!! woot.

Each step closer to a fully funded trip makes my heart happy. :yay::yay::yay:

I totally agree about fully funded trip. I just made airline reservations on Southwest, total cost 10. 00 they had a great sale 79.00 had enough pts to cover for 2.. I also been picking up gift cards for other expenses. We're staying at PP and that will be paid off in a few months. All I have to do is schedule a ride from the airport and I'm set. Come on Dec. :)

Woo-hoo!!! You deserve the happy banana dance too!:banana:

I am loving marking off things as PAID on the budget. If only I felt that way each month as I pay things like the cable and cell phone bill. :rolleyes1

We just made our airline and hotel reservations for 11/30 - 12/8! Staying at the Fairfield Inn, as usual. :goodvibes

This trip uses up the last days of our annual pass, which saves us a ton of money! Yay!

We'll be going December 1-6, 2014. Flying in from Sacramento to Anaheim. Staying at GCH, So looking forward to the Christmas decorations and the whole Holiday feeling :santa: at Disneyland and California Adventure  This will be my 2 little ones (2 princess: & 4 pirate:) first time there for the Holidays. So it will be a different experience for them since we usually go in the summer.

:wave2: Hey everyone! Well, we gave our kids the option of going to the Land of Disney again (our third time) or somewhere else and much to our delight, they hands-down begged for Disney so here we go again!! We are waiting for the "why do you keep going to the same place?" comments but we don't care. We all love love love it.

We've never been at Christmas time and my dream for our next trip was to either stay onsite (never done) or go at Christmas, my absolutely favorite time of year. Once we saw that staying onsite would be quite a bit more expensive, we opted to go at Christmas :santa: :woohoo:

We'll be there Dec 3-9 (5-day hoppers) and will be staying at the Fairfield Inn across the street. We haven't told our kids yet but will soon. The last trips we surprised them with but I think this time, we'll go boring and just tell them :woohoo:. They won't be too surprised anyway as we did ask them where they wanted to go for our next holiday.

So hi to everyone. I'll be doing plenty of browsing on here to get caught up on everything. Our last trip was March 2013 so by the time December hits, it will have almost been years.

How Exciting, SweetAlex!

You will so love visiting during Holiday Time---it is so festive and beautiful!

You don't have to stay on site to have a wonderful visit(which you already know;)), and if I had to choose either visiting the Resort or staying on site, I would have chosen exactly what you did(we like the Fairfield)!

There's always time for BOTH your dreams to come true!!!

How fun(and appropriate) that your children voted for Disneyland:thumbsup2!

The 4th Annual Theme Week Countdown starts in the Disneyland at Christmas/Holiday Season Superthread on Monday, July 21st, and the final theme will take place on Monday, November 3rd (there will be a total of 22 themes spanning 3-1/2 months, with a bonanza of Disneyland Resort holiday photos rolling in during that time, as we wait for info and details of the upcoming holiday season).

See more info Here, and stay tuned to the Superthread for further details about how to enter and win gift Disney cards in the Countdown, which I will explain in that thread as we get closer to 7/21. There will be 2 gift cards given away in a random draw to photo contributors (the more you contribute, the better your chances of winning), and one gift card given away to a non-photo contributor who wins a particular Christmas/holiday-oriented challenge. There will even be one theme (the final one) to which WDW vets (or people who have other non-Disney holiday photos they'd like to share) can contribute.

If you are going to be participating in one way or another, be sure to come to the Superthread and introduce yourselves before July 21st! Don't lurk if you want to participate! I want to know who I might be sending a Disney gift card to when the Countdown is over!:santa:

Hooray for Sherry!!!:santa:

So enjoyed the "Christmas/Holiday Theme Week Countdown" last year, and can't wait for this year---July 21st can't come quickly enough---such a nice way to help those of us who dislike heat;), get through the miserable Summer!!!::yes::

I love having my AP for that very reason. I may only go once a year (usually), so it feels like I'm getting a 'deal' on the second one!

Have a great time!!

Fun! We used to live in the Sacramento area, and made that flight quite often. Have a wonderful time!

It sounds like you've taught your kids the importance of Disney magic and they made the logical choice! :goodvibes It looks like you'll be at the Fairfield at the same time as kittyskyfish (at least partially) Have a fun trip!
